Often the choice of moms and dads fell on the drug "Aflubin", which, according to the instructions, quickly copes with viruses. The famous doctor Yevgeny Komarovsky has repeatedly told parents about this drug: how it works and whether it is worth giving it to children. About the drug
"Aflubin" is a homeopathic preparation, which includes microscopic doses of various substances, mainly vegetable: dioecious bryony, yellow gentian, aconite. In addition, lactic acid is declared in the composition, and potato starch, magnesium stearate are used as auxiliary substances.
The product is available in tablets, in the form of a nasal spray and in the form of drops. Among the indications for use, manufacturers indicate the treatment and prevention of influenza and acute respiratory infections, respiratory diseases.
"Aflubin" is an immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agent. So it is written in the instructions for use. The principle of action, according to the manufacturers, is to activate the nonspecific protective factors of the nasal mucosa, trachea and bronchi.
The drug is approved for use in children after 1 year, the spray can be given to children after 12 years. Tablets are allowed in a dosage of 1 tablet per day for the prevention of influenza and from 3 to 8 tablets per day (depending on age) with the onset of the disease with a gradual transition to three times a day. The tablets dissolve half an hour before meals.
Drops are given 3-8 per day (usually five drops) if the disease has already started, and 10 drops twice a day if the drug is taken for prophylaxis. Spray into the nose is allowed to spray no more than two injections twice a day.
Among the contraindications, only possible intolerance to any components of the drug is indicated.

"Aflubin" in any form of release, according to Evgeny Komarovsky, is a medicine that will not harm a child. True, it will not bring any benefit either, but this is a common misfortune of all homeopathic remedies.

The fact is that the active substances stated in the instructions are counted in Aflubin not even in tenths and hundredths of a gram, but in several molecules. This is one of the principles of homeopathy - "The principle of small doses." To do this, take the active ingredients and dilute them with water many times. According to homeopaths, water, when actively shaken during dilution, "remembers" some information about the active substance at a subtle mental level, and then transfers this "knowledge" to the child's body.
In practice, no one was able to prove the effectiveness of the homeopathic drug "Aflubin". Since the active substance is negligible, it is not possible to study pharmacokinetics in the laboratory (the manufacturers write this in the instructions), and if clinical trials were carried out, then contrary to the principles of evidence-based medicine, they did not reveal their effectiveness. This is indirectly indicated by the item "Overdose" in the instructions. It says “not found”.
Thus, parents buy several molecules of plant origin and potato starch, which is the most in the preparation. Komarovsky strongly doubts that such a composition can cure influenza and ARVI, not to mention respiratory infections.
According to the doctor, positive reviews about the excellent and fast action of Aflubin were most likely written by mothers of happy children with strong and strong immunity, which itself copes with the disease in 3-4 days and without medication. However, all the laudatory odes go not to the baby's immune defense, but to the drug, the action of which is described by the official medicine with the capacious phrase "placebo effect."
Most modern doctors fully agree with Komarovsky, and homeopathy itself this year in Russia was officially recognized as a pseudoscience by the Russian Academy of Sciences.
But for some reason, pediatricians continue to prescribe Aflubin to their little patients. They do this not out of ignorance or malicious intent, but exclusively with good intentions.
