Enterosgel for children: instructions for use

Enterosgel is a modern medicine from the group of sorbents. Due to the special structure, the particles of such a drug can absorb various harmful substances, which helps to cleanse the intestines and the whole body. At the same time, they act selectively (on molecules of a certain size), and therefore do not harm the digestive system and internal organs, and also do not participate in biochemical reactions that take place in the human body.

The medicine is often used in childhood, because many parents are faced with children's diarrhea, allergies, infections and other problems, which Enterosgel copes with with a bang. Diarrhea, SARS, poisoning and other ailments especially often occur in children who communicate with peers in kindergarten or school. Diseases that provoke harmful microbes and allergens usually bother in the spring and autumn, and poisoning in the summer. This makes Enterosgel a drug that is in demand all year round.

Release form

Enterosgel is a patented product of the Russian company TNK Silma and is sold in several types of packaging:

  • in tubes, containing 90 or 225 grams of paste;
  • in portioned sachets 22.5 grams of the drug (they are sold in 2, 10 or 20 sachets in one box).

The medicine itself is a gel-like substance with a whitish tint. There is no smell of such a paste, and the taste is neutral. Separately, the sweet "Enterosgel" is produced, which also does not smell, has a gel-like structure and is white. It is sold in tubes of 225 grams, as well as in boxes containing 10 sachets of 15 grams of pasta each.

Composition

The main ingredient in the paste is called polymethylsiloxane polyhydrate. Its share in the drug without taste is 70%, that is, 100 grams of the drug contains 70 grams of such a substance, and the remainder (30 grams) is represented by purified water. In sweet pasta, its amount is slightly less - 69.9 g, as well as purified water - 29.9 g. This version of Enterosgel additionally includes two sweeteners - sodium saccharinate and sodium cyclamate.

Operating principle

Enterosgel belongs to intestinal adsorbents due to the special structure of its active component. It is represented by an organosilicon matrix with a porous structure resembling a sponge. Such a matrix has a hydrophobic nature, that is, it repels water molecules, but absorbs medium-molecular toxic compounds well.

Enterosgel has a strong detoxifying and sorption effect. Once in the lumen of the digestive tract, the paste binds both exogenous and endogenous harmful substances of a different nature - allergens, poisons, toxins, pathogenic microbes, medications, and so on. The active ingredient in the gel is also capable of absorbing certain metabolic products, for example, lipid complexes, bilirubin, cholesterol or urea.

Enterosgel has no harmful effect on the body, because it is not absorbed in the intestine, but leaves the digestive tract unchanged within 8-12 hours after ingestion. However, it does not impair the absorption of minerals and vitamins, and also does not affect the motor function of the intestines. In addition, the paste not only does not inhibit the microflora in the colon, but even helps to restore it if the patient has dysbiosis.

The healing effects of the sweet version of Enterosgel are the same as those of the unflavored pasta. This type of medicine is also not absorbed, but "works" only in the intestinal lumen - it adsorbs various toxins, viruses, microbial cells, allergens, toxic substances or drugs onto its matrix. After that, the harmful compounds soon leave the gastrointestinal tract and the patient's condition improves.

Indications

In the instructions for Enterosgel, there are quite a few reasons for using such a sorbent. First of all, it is prescribed for acute poisoning, when salts of heavy metals, alkaloids, alcohols, drugs (in case of overdose) have entered the body of a small patient. Paste is no less in demand for acute intestinal infections, for example, with salmonellosis, rotavirus or dysentery. In addition, Enterosgel is used:

  • with diarrhea and abdominal pain of non-infectious genesis;
  • with dysbiosis;
  • with purulent diseases and acute respiratory viral infections, to help eliminate intoxication (at high temperatures, weakness and other signs);
  • for viral hepatitis or jaundice in newborns, to reduce the level of bilirubin;
  • with renal failure, if necessary to reduce the level of azotemia;
  • with drug or food allergies, including atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma;
  • with increased acetone in the blood;
  • when staying in a place where the air is polluted;
  • when living in an area that is considered environmentally unfavorable.

At what age is it allowed?

"Enterosgel" without taste can be prescribed to children from birth. Such a drug has a simple composition and is harmless for both infants and older children. But the drug with the addition of sweeteners is not recommended for small patients in the first year of life, since at an early age it can provoke negative reactions.

This paste can only be given to children over 1 year old.

Contraindications

Both neutral and sweetened Enterosgel are prohibited for children with individual intolerance to its main ingredient. In addition, a drug with a sweet taste should not be given in case of hypersensitivity to its sweetening components, as well as in case of intolerance to sulfa drugs.

Another contraindication to the use of paste is intestinal atony, since the medication can further worsen the patient's condition with this problem. It is inadmissible to use Enterosgel in case of bleeding in the digestive tract or intestinal obstruction.

With such serious pathologies, not sorbents are needed, but immediate medical attention, therefore, if you suspect them, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Side effects

As a result of the use of Enterosgel, some children may experience side effects from the gastrointestinal tract, for example, constipation or nausea. To eliminate constipation, it is recommended to give the child more liquid.

If the remedy is prescribed for severe violations of the liver or kidneys, then the patient may have an aversion to the paste. In addition, a medicine that contains sweeteners can cause an allergic reaction such as hives or itchy skin. Allergy to tasteless Enterosgel also occurs, but much less frequently. In such a situation, the medication must be canceled immediately.

Instructions for use

The drug is recommended to be given to children one to two hours before meals or several hours after meals. If the medicine is used in case of poisoning or other acute condition, the diet does not affect the time it is taken. In such situations, the remedy is prescribed at the first negative symptoms.

As for the method of application, "Enterosgel" can be given to children from a spoon, offering to drink it with water, or stir the paste in a glass of water. Water should be at room temperature and taken in at least three times the volume.

For the smallest patients, it is permissible to dilute the medication in breast milk or its substitute. For older children, you can combine the gel with juice or other non-hot sweet liquid.

Medication with a neutral taste is usually given three times a day, and a single dose is determined according to the age of the child.

  • If a remedy is required to appoint infant, then half a teaspoon is enough for one meal, that is, 2.5 g of paste. Such small patients are given medication more often - six times a day before each feeding. Thus, the daily dose of Enterosgel for a child under one year old is 15 g.
  • If Enterosgel was discharged to a child aged from 1 to 5 years (for example, at 2 years), then a single dosage will already be half a tablespoon. This corresponds to 7.5 g of paste at a time, and such a patient should receive 22.5 g of medication per day.
  • If the drug was prescribed to a child 6-14 years old, then give it a full tablespoon. It turns out that at this age, the medication is taken at 15 g, and the daily dose will be 45 g.
  • If the product needs to be used with a teenager over 14 years old, use an adult dosage - 1-1.5 tablespoons of pasta per reception (15-22.5 g). It turns out that the daily dosage for adolescents is the amount of 45-67.5 g, which corresponds to 2-3 sachets for a portion-packed medication.

In the case when the patient's condition is severe, and the intoxication is very strong, the dosage of Enterosgel can be doubled. But, as soon as the symptoms become less pronounced, they return to the recommended doses for age. This usually occurs after 1-3 days from the start of the drug.

Sweet paste is taken 3 times a day in the following dosage:

  • children 1-5 years old are given medication in a teaspoon (5 g per dose);
  • for a child 6-14 years old, "Enterosgel" with sweeteners is prescribed in a dessert spoon, that is, 10 g at a time;
  • in adolescence, you need to take a tablespoon of sweet medicine (15 g) at one time.

How long to take the drug should be checked with your doctor. If the child has acute poisoning or intestinal infection, it is often enough to give the paste for 5-7 days. For the treatment of allergic manifestations or chronic pathologies, Enterosgel is prescribed for a longer course, for example, for 2 weeks. Reuse of the paste some time after completion of treatment is recommended after consultation with the doctor.

Overdose

An excess dose of the drug does not have a harmful effect, because Enterosgel does not interact with the patient's body and does not get to the internal organs. In case of acute poisoning or severe intoxication, it is possible to increase dosages for the fastest possible removal of toxic and poisonous compounds from the child's body, therefore it is impossible to overdose the agent.

Interaction with other drugs

"Enterosgel" can be prescribed together with many other drugs (including antibiotics) and does not affect their effectiveness, if you follow the rules for dividing the intake in time.

It is necessary to give the child a paste and other medicines at intervals of 1.5-2 hours, then the sorbent will not affect their absorption in any way.

Terms of sale

Since Enterosgel is classified as an over-the-counter medicine, and the paste is produced by a Russian company, there are no difficulties with purchasing a medicine in a pharmacy. The price of a medicine depends on the region, and on the volume of the package, and on the margin in a particular pharmacy. On average, for one tube containing 225 g of the drug, or for one box with 10 portioned sachets of pasta, you need to pay 400-450 rubles.

Storage conditions

So that the drug does not deteriorate and remains effective, when storing it, you need to take into account the following nuances:

  • Enterosgel should be kept out of reach of babies;
  • the recommended storage temperature for the paste is from +4 to +30 degrees Celsius;
  • the tube or sachets can be kept in the refrigerator, but the medication cannot be frozen;
  • the package of Enterosgel must always be tightly closed so that the preparation does not dry out;
  • the shelf life of the medicine before opening the package, and after that is 3 years.

Reviews

Almost all reviews about Enterosgel from parents and doctors of various specialties are positive. They call the drug very effective, convenient to use and safe for babies of any age. Infant mothers prefer the medicine without taste, mixing it with infant formula or breast milk. Parents of older children often buy sweet Enterosgel, against which children protest less than ordinary pasta.

Many mothers consider the main advantage of the drug to be a large list of indications, so this sorbent is often present in the home medicine cabinet and is taken on trips (for travel, portioned bags are called especially convenient). The disadvantages of Enterosgel are usually attributed to its high cost, due to which inexpensive analogues are selected. There are also complaints about an unpleasant texture and taste.

Analogs

Instead of Enterosgel, other drugs from the group of enterosorbents can be used. One of the many preparations can replace the paste.

  • "Activated carbon". Such a popular sorbent effectively absorbs harmful substances due to the active surface of the tablets. It is prescribed for children with vomiting, flatulence, food poisoning, salmonellosis, poisoning and other diseases. Among the advantages of such a tablet medicine, parents often cite its prevalence in pharmacies and its low price.
  • "Polysorb MP"... The action of such a drug in powder is provided by colloidal silicon dioxide. Such a compound binds toxins, harmful viruses and other substances, helping to remove them from the body. It is mixed with water to form a suspension, and then given to children with diarrhea, diathesis, food poisoning and other problems.

  • "Smecta". The basis of such a popular medicine is an aluminosilicate called smectite. The main advantages of the drug are natural origin, safe action, high efficiency, portioned release form. The drug is presented in sachets with powder or ready-made suspension, it is often used for food allergies, vomiting and other ailments. Instead of "Smecta" you can use analogs with the same active ingredient ("Diosmectite", "Neosmectin").
  • "Polyphepan". This powder is made from softwood, and its main component is called hydrolytic lignin. The medication is in demand for burns, allergic diseases, rotavirus infection, worms, dyspeptic symptoms, poisoning and many other ailments.
  • "Enterodez"... This domestic sorbent is produced in the form of a powder packed in sachets. It contains povidone, which quickly binds harmful substances and accelerates their excretion from the body, so this medicine is used for infectious diseases, kidney failure, burn disease and other pathologies.

These and other sorbents are considered safe in childhood, therefore, they can be used from birth, however, before using them in children, it is advisable to consult a doctor, because they also have contraindications and application features.
