Psychosomatic causes of vegetative-vascular dystonia in adults and children

Vegetovascular dystonia in children and adults is closely related to mental state and stress. This is not denied by any doctor, but traditional medicine, unfortunately, cannot answer the question of what kind of psychological problems lead to the development of this polyetiological syndrome - VSD syndrome.

In this article, we will take a closer look at what emotions, feelings and experiences can cause disorders of the autonomic nervous system.

General information

Dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system is absent in the modern classification of diseases. The term VVD was recognized as obsolete, and now it can only be found in common usage. Doctors call the problem somatoform dysfunction of the nervous system, that is, they consider the problem in combination with psychosomatic components.

It is much easier for the doctor at the reception to announce the diagnosis of "VSD" or "neurocirculatory dystonia" to the parents of the child, since this does not require a search for the true cause. Somatoform disorder, included in the ICD, always requires a search for one or another destructive stereotype of clinical thinking. At the same time, appointments are not always effective at all.

Disorders of the vegetative system are always secondary in their principle. Before them follows what caused them - mental illness, disturbances in the emotional background, organic lesions of the central nervous system, hormonal changes (as in adolescents in puberty). Often VSD (we will call the problem as it is more familiar to the reader) is accompanied by high blood pressure, ischemic heart disease, anxiety and depressive mental disorders.

Symptoms in general are as follows: tremors, sweating, regular heart palpitations, periodic increases in temperature, flushing of the face, a feeling of heat, complaints of pain in any organ (the examination does not reveal abnormalities in the indicated place), fatigue, frequent bloating, dizziness, meteosensitivity , shortness of breath, periodic joint pain.

In traditional medicine, it is customary to provide symptomatic and complex treatment, which also includes psychotherapy. In addition to sessions, antidepressants or nootropics are often prescribed. The main recommendation of any doctor is to avoid stress..

Psychosomatics of the phenomenon

The psychosomatics of the VVD is based on understanding how the autonomic nervous system works. At the metaphysical level, it ensures the interaction of the body and the psyche. If anxiety appears in the mental background, thanks to the autonomic nervous system, the muscles receive a signal to strain, prepare for possible dangerous events, the heart begins to beat faster.

On the mental level, a person chooses how to assess the situation and the situation - and what causes fear in one does not cause absolutely nothing negative in another. An event can be not only external, but also internal (certain experiences). For the signals of the autonomic nervous system, there is no difference what and where is happening (inside a person or outside), the reactions will be completely identical - the body begins to be put on full "alert". The longer a person is in an anxious state, the more likely it is to develop somatoform disorder.

Psychotherapists and psychoanalysts, who often deal with VSD, are sure that most often it develops against the background of a person's personal attachment to something he has lost. For example, there was a good job that gave status and income, and then the person was laid off or fired. Anxiety goes off scale, unable to let go of attachment, he begins to suffer from VSD.

Dystonia can develop in dreamers who have a strong desire, but do not have the opportunity to realize it or calmly wait until it is realized itself. A difficult internal conflict develops. This is what happens in children and adolescents who are diagnosed with this, it is for this reason that dysfunctions of the autonomic nervous system occur in people who are now forced to live differently than before (divorced, injured, disabled).

More than others, according to psychologists, adults and children who do not know how to control their ambitions, impressionable and anxious people who are emotionally dependent on others (a typical childhood reason) are prone to the development of a violation, according to psychologists. At risk are those who are overly responsible and pedantic, vindictive and extremely unsure of themselves.

Researchers' opinion

Louise Hay and Liz Burbo state in their books that VSD occurs against the background of suppression of true feelings, chronic lies and lack of sincerity.

Many researchers tend to believe that parents are always involved in VSD in a child, forbidding the baby to cry or laugh loudly, scream or express emotions... They are based on the norms of behavior adopted in a particular society. But the child develops a persistent distortion of reactions, which becomes a reflex.

Gradually, such children transform normal natural anger into pathological anger, fear into anxiety, healthy envy normal for children into pathological jealousy and attachment to material things.

Treatment

The main role in the treatment is entrusted not to cardiologists and pediatricians, but to psychotherapists.

Simultaneously with the study of incorrect destructive attitudes, the patient is recommended to have a relaxing effect - massage and reflexology, physiotherapy, rest in a sanatorium.

It is necessary to find a destructive habitual reflex reaction and replace it with a positive emotion.

It is important to find those feelings and thoughts, after which an attack of VSD symptoms occurs.... The task is to devalue them, to stop giving them so much importance. Gradually, the body will cease to perceive them as a signal for mobilization, and the state will improve.

If the heart begins to beat every time a person thinks about the possibility of losing his job, you need to eliminate this fear, giving yourself a high assessment as a specialist.
