In the treatment of children, many parents prefer homeopathic and herbal remedies. One of these drugs is Valerianachel. Can it be given to a child and in what cases is it necessary?

Release form

Valerianachel is released in liquid form - in drops intended for internal use. These drops smell like valerian and are dark brownish-red liquid. The drug is usually clear, although small flakes may appear during storage in solution, but such a precipitate is considered the norm. The drops are placed in a dark glass bottle containing 30 ml of the medicine.

Composition

The main component of Valerianahel drops is represented by the Valerian officinalis plant. In addition, the preparation contains other herbal ingredients - Curly hops, Pharmacy chamomile, Melissa officinalis, Hawthorn, St. John's wort and Common oats. They are supplemented with the substances Ammonium bromatum, Natrium bromatum and Kalium bromatum in D1 dilution, as well as picric acid in D5 dilution. An auxiliary ingredient of drops is 60% ethyl alcohol.

Operating principle

Valerianachel is classified as a homeopathic remedy that has a sedative effect. The components of such a solution have a calming effect, normalize sleep and improve the state of the nervous system.

Indications

The reason to appoint Valerianahel may be:

  • Neurosis.
  • Sleep problems.
  • Neurasthenia.
  • Overwork.

In children, the remedy is used for tics, insomnia, increased nervous excitability.

At what age is it allowed to take

The instructions for the drug contain a warning about using Valerianachel drops in children under 6 years of age. The effect of the drug on such an age group has not been sufficiently studied, therefore, a child who is not yet six years old cannot be given Valerianachel without consulting a doctor. If there are indications, the drug can be prescribed by a specialist at an earlier age, for example, at 2 years.

Contraindications

The drug is not prescribed in case of intolerance to any ingredient in its composition.

Due to the presence of plant components, sometimes the child's body reacts to Valerianachel with an allergic reaction. It should also be clarified that taking homeopathic drops often aggravates the symptoms of the disease at first, which is called a primary deterioration. In this case, Valerianahel is canceled and a specialist is consulted.

Instructions for use

For a child 6-12 years old, a single dose will be 10 drops, and for children over 12 years old, the dosage is increased to 15 drops per dose. If a pediatrician or neurologist has prescribed Valerianachel to a child aged 2-6 years, then a single dose is 5 drops.

Valerianachel drops are recommended to be taken orally an hour after a meal. You can also take the medicine 30 minutes before a meal. The remedy is given three times a day for 3-4 weeks. If the doctor sees the need, then drops can be prescribed for another 3-4 weeks.

Overdose

There is no information on the negative effect of an excessive dose of Valerianachel drops.
