Is it possible to eat a melon for a nursing mother

Melon is a real summer treat. Few people will refuse to taste a juicy fragrant melon slice in the heat. It perfectly quenches thirst, tones the body. Pregnant girls can and should include a melon in the list of foods they eat - the melon fruit contains a large amount of folic acid, which is absolutely necessary for the development of a future baby in all three trimesters of pregnancy. But is melon allowed for young mothers when breastfeeding? We will try to find the answer to this important question.

The first thing to think about is whether a nursing mother is allergic. The predisposition to allergies of close family members is also taken into account. The fact is that melon is a fairly allergenic product, and can cause skin rashes in the baby. Therefore, having even the slightest doubt, it is better to postpone the introduction of melons into the diet of a nursing mother until later time.

Another disadvantage of melon is that it contains a large amount of sugars - fast carbohydrates. Sugar tends to cause fermentation in the stomach, and this leads to increased gas production, colic in the baby. Therefore, for the first three months after giving birth, a mother who is breastfeeding a baby is better off refraining from melon.

If you and your child have a normal reaction to the vegetables and fruits already introduced, then you can try the melon. In fact, she is a storehouse of vitamins. And in combination with fiber and carotene, this is a real healing product for constipation and problems with intestinal permeability.

But you should not eat melon on an empty stomach, and even more so in case of stomach diseases - gastritis, peptic ulcer and others. Melon can provoke the onset of an acute course of the disease. Melon is also contraindicated in diabetes mellitus.

If a nursing mother ate a melon and she developed symptoms - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach - you need to take an adsorbent and call an ambulance. All of the above may indicate poisoning.

How to buy a good melon

You should not buy melons even in season, because for early ripening, chemicals are used that are dangerous to humans when ingested. Always choose your melon carefully - its surface should be free of cracks and chips. They usually accumulate pathogenic bacteria. Never buy cut melon! Try to choose smooth, flavorful pieces with a characteristic sweet aroma.

Melon during breastfeeding should be started by tasting a small piece. During the day, closely monitor changes in the child's condition. If everything is in order, the next day you can afford two servings of sweet fruit pulp. So, by the end of the week, with a normal reaction of the mother and baby's body, you can afford to eat three to four slices of melon per day. No more - you still need to adhere to the measure.

Melon, like any product, has its own advantages and disadvantages. Be responsible for your diet while breastfeeding, only then the food will bring you both pleasure and benefit.
