Things for baby

How to dress a newborn for a walk (summer, autumn, winter)

If you are a young mother and are worried about the health of your child, then, most likely, you have already wondered how to dress your newborn baby for a walk. Additional care is required to help the baby adapt to this world. It is on clothes that you should pay special attention to in the first days of a newborn's life, because at this time the thermoregulation of the little man's body still does not work well enough, and walks in the fresh air are very useful and even necessary.

Newborn wardrobe

By the time the child is born, the basic wardrobe is usually already purchased. Typically, such a wardrobe includes the following items of clothing:

  • Undershirt;
  • Sliders;
  • Bodysuit or slip-on jumpsuit made of cotton or flannel;
  • A cap made of thin fabric;
  • Warm fabric hat;
  • Cotton cap;
  • Overalls made of warm fabric, such as fleece;
  • Insulated overalls;
  • Envelope or overalls with insulation.

Diapers and blankets are not clothing, but you shouldn't forget about them either.

Things to keep in mind in any weather

You should walk with babies for a long time and often, because this way their health is strengthened, a small growing body is enriched with oxygen, sleep and appetite improve. Usually a walk with a newborn takes from 1 to 2 hours, and it is recommended to take it twice a day. You should be well prepared for such a walk.

Do not forget about the diaper before putting clothes on the child. Add to this a sheet, a handkerchief, a pacifier and water, and your baby stroller is ready.

Pay attention to the weather. Before going outside, we are used to looking at a thermometer. But temperature is just one indicator. Other factors play an equally important role: whether it is sunny or cloudy, windy or not, fog and precipitation, and the level of humidity.

Winter walks

In winter, care should be taken to insulate the limbs of the newborn, as well as the head, especially the ears. Provide the necessary warmth to these parts of the body. The child can be dressed in a bonnet, warm hat, cotton bodysuit, fleece overalls and a padded envelope. Above the child should be covered with a warm blanket. Such equipment will provide the baby with comfort and warmth when walking from -10 to -20 degrees. If the frost is very strong, it is better to refrain from walking.

At temperatures from 0 to -10, you do not need to use a warm blanket. But sometimes at zero temperatures there is such high humidity and such a piercing wind that we freeze faster than in the cold. A child is also a person, and in such cases it is again worth remembering a warm blanket.

Let's see how to dress a newborn for a walk in winter:

Walking in spring and autumn

In spring and autumn, the weather is changeable and treacherous. Therefore, it does not hurt to play it safe by dressing the crumb in several layers of clothing. This is recommended by pediatricians, because if the baby suddenly becomes hot, it can be easier to undress or unravel and cover again if it starts to freeze. But don't overdo it with wrapping your baby. Better to let it cool a little than to languish in the heat. You can always notice that the child has begun to freeze, and cover him with a blanket.

Let's say the weather is fine, clear and calm. The best option at temperatures from +2 to +8 will be the same overalls made of cotton, overalls made of warm fabric such as fleece and another insulated overalls, and for the head - a cap and a thin hat.

Is it 8 to 13 heat outside? Limit yourself to a cotton slip, a warm hat and an envelope with a little insulation.

Is the thermometer somewhere between 13 and 17 degrees Celsius? The same thin cotton overalls, a warm cap and a velor overalls with insulation are enough.

But how do you know if your child is comfortable? Feel your neck. If it is wet, hot, then the clothes are too much, and the child should be unraveled. On the other hand, slightly cool hands and feet are not an indicator that the child is really cold. But a cold and reddened nose is a clear sign that the baby is freezing.

Summer walks

At temperatures of +20 degrees, typical for summer, it makes sense to abandon overalls and leave only a vest and sliders, and a bonnet for headwear. At the same time, do not forget that the baby's head should not be overheated. If the sun begins to bake, and the baby, in addition to a cap, is also wearing a hat, then it is better to remove the latter.

In the heat, it is recommended to dress the baby in loose clothes made of natural fabric.

There is a lot of sun in the summer and sunlight is good for babies, but keep your baby out of direct sunlight, especially during the hours of high solar activity, from noon to three. Raise the canopy on the stroller to avoid sunstroke.

Wear a raincoat when it rains, but always leave free space for fresh air to enter the stroller, otherwise there will be no benefit from such a walk.
