Things for baby

My Most Useless Newborn Shopping

It is generally accepted that it is undesirable to purchase children's things before the birth of a child. Are they always so needed? Let's try to figure it out from personal experience.

  1. Once on Avito I saw an advertisement for the sale of a device for warming up bottles with baby food. It seemed to me that it would be very convenient. But I soon became convinced that this was an absolutely unnecessary thing: the baby sucked out breast milk completely, and I prepared the mixture fresh every time. The bottle heats up very slowly, and not every model fits into the warmer.
  2. Preparing to become a mother, I looked at various forums, attended master classes of needlewomen. I sewed a comfort envelope myself, having bought a bright fabric and a warm lining. But the kid didn't like it, it was too hot. He liked to sleep open.
  3. My mom knits well. She created many beautiful clothes for her grandson: socks, booties, blouses, suits. She also tied a beautiful cocoon. Well, once or twice he slept in it, but then he grew up, and I never used the cocoon again. It's good that it could be dissolved and tied up with something else.
  4. The mother-in-law, wanting to make her contribution to the dowry of the newborn grandson, bought a shirt and chintz vest without buttons. Once upon a time, children were dressed like this: the undershirt is light, the undershirt is warm, the diaper is light, the diaper is warm. Now no one swaddles, and the undershirts either swing open or bully under the sliders. Slips and overalls are much more comfortable.
  5. 8 pieces of small caps were purchased. None of them fit on my son's head. If we take hats, then they are of different sizes, and it is more desirable to do this after the birth of the child, when it will be possible to measure the volume of the head.
  6. Among the little things for caring for a baby, I did not need baby scissors. It is almost impossible to trim small nails with them: they themselves are thick, they cut very badly. It's easier to do this neatly with nail scissors.
  7. For bathing, I bought a beautiful bathtub and a slide to it, so that I could put the baby on it and free my hands. But in the water, the slide became slippery, the child crawled off it, had to hold it, which was completely uncomfortable.
  8. Special terry bathing glove. It looks very soft in appearance, but after being used several times, it becomes tough when it dries. I refused it, because the child has very delicate skin.
  9. I bought in advance both baby powder and Bepanten ointment for diaper rash. But my child's skin was fine, these purchases were never useful.
  10. Friends gave us a "kangaroo" backpack so that, taking the child with us, we could walk with them to the park. This device is designed for 10 kg of weight. Try lifting that weight for an hour or more. A child in such a backpack sits with a bent back, which is by no means useful. It is much easier to go for a walk with a stroller.

These are just a few of the things that were not useful to us or were used minimally. And how many rattles, gurneys, rodents and other toys filled the nursery! My advice to all women preparing to become mothers: before you buy some thing for your unborn child, think about whether he needs it.
