Can Taufon eye drops be used to treat children?

Numerous electronic devices have an adverse effect on the organs of vision, significantly increasing the load on them. An increase in visual stress leads to an increase in eye diseases. Our article is devoted to the use of Taufon drops for the treatment of children.

Application in pediatric ophthalmology

Drops "Taufon" can be called a universal remedy for the treatment and prevention of diseases such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism. Their periodic application prevents many problems from arising.

Eye drops "Taufon" are prescribed in order to restore eye tissue if the changes are metabolic and dystrophic in nature. The release form of a 4% solution is a bottle with a volume of 1.5 to 10 ml. The cap can be made in the form of a dropper or without it, which requires the use of an eye pipette. "Taufon" is also produced in tubes, so the patient can choose the type of packaging that is more convenient for him to use.

1 ml of solution contains 40 mg of taurine - the main active ingredient. The solution can be either colorless or yellowish. Taurine is an amino acid produced in the body. But in modern conditions, a person is almost constantly in an electromagnetic field that slows down its synthesis.

Taurine slows down the formation of cataracts, improves recovery processes, stimulates nerve impulses. With a sufficient amount of it in the cells of the eye tissues, the supply of potassium and calcium increases, lipid metabolism improves, and the intercellular membranes are not destroyed. Taurine enters the bloodstream in microscopic doses and is practically not oxidized in the body. It is excreted through the kidneys.

What does the body need taurine for?

The substance is well studied, it is successfully used in the production of infant formula for baby food. Taurine is especially necessary for babies up to 3 months of age, since it is involved in the construction of the nervous system and the brain, and the retina. Taurine improves the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and essential elements such as calcium and magnesium. Its presence in the blood increases the body's defense against antioxidants, helps to strengthen the immune system.

Although clinical studies of the effects of "Taufon" on children have not been conducted, practicing ophthalmologists often prescribe this drug to young patients. Indications for prescribing the drug "Taufon" to children may be:

  • eye damage caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation;
  • damage to the mucous membranes of the organs of vision;
  • injuries (including burns - chemical and physical) that carry the risk of damage to the optic nerve;
  • the presence of foreign bodies;
  • glaucoma.

Also, the drug is prescribed if the child has dystrophic changes in the cornea or retina, cataract begins to develop.

Contraindications to admission and analogues

It is not allowed to take "Taufon" if there are allergic reactions to the drug: itching and reddening of the skin, tears flowing strongly, attacks of dry cough begin, nasal congestion. "Taufon" is not recommended for use in such children who often have low blood pressure or have a history of diseases in the field of psychiatry and neurology.

If any symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted who will adjust the appointment.

If "Taufon" is prescribed in the course of combination therapy with the use of other drops, a pause of at least 15 minutes must be taken between instillations to allow the drug to be better absorbed.

There are analogs of "Taufon", these are:

  • Cytochrome C;
  • "Okulokhel";
  • "Katakhrom";
  • Ergotex Gee;
  • Taurine;
  • "Khrustalin";
  • Quinax;
  • "Adgelon";
  • Emaxipin;
  • Systane (gel and drops);
  • Okoferon;
  • "Hilo-chest of drawers";
  • "Slezin" and other drugs.

The cost of analogs can be much higher than the price of "Taufon". In addition, they have significant contraindications. Therefore, before buying, you need to consult a pediatric ophthalmologist.

How should the drug be instilled in children?

The course of treatment is prescribed by an ophthalmologist, parents in no case should, at their own discretion, bury Taufon for children. For any eye problem, see a doctor. If the examination reveals pathologies, the pediatric ophthalmologist will write a prescription indicating the dosage and duration of the course of treatment.

The drops must be used warm. Since it is recommended to store them in the refrigerator, before use, the drug should be warmed up to room temperature by lowering the bottle in a cup of hot water. Drops are instilled directly into the conjunctival sac.

The instruction informs that reception of "Taufon" is allowed from the age of 18... But on the Internet, there are often positive reviews about the use of the drug in the treatment of children. Parents need not worry if a doctor has prescribed these drops.

The manufacturer's recommendations are based solely on the fact that no clinical studies have been carried out in children. The experience of doctors proves the positive effect of the drug on the young body.

Can it be used during the treatment of other diseases?

There are no restrictions on the simultaneous reception of "Taufon" with drugs for other diseases. This is explained by the fact that the drug acts locally, it does not enter the main blood stream, which excludes interaction with medications taken orally.

Very often, prescribing "Taufon", ophthalmologists recommend additionally taking dietary supplements and vitamins made on the basis of blueberries. This valuable berry helps restore vision and is used as a prophylaxis for pathologies of the organs of vision. Porridge and jelly made from sprouted wheat, green cabbage soup from nettle will be of great benefit.

Combination with physiotherapy methods

Physiotherapy has firmly taken its place in the treatment of many diseases, including eye diseases. To improve the effect of the drug, it can be administered using a physiotherapy procedure such as magnetophoresis. The drug is injected into the eye using a low frequency magnetic field. With this method of treatment, the organs of vision are affected not only by the drug itself, but also by the magnetic field. The medicine is administered at the dosage prescribed by the oculist.

In addition to physical therapy, children should receive vitamins, antioxidants and drugs that improve microcirculation, especially if progressive myopia is diagnosed.
