Flamin for children: instructions for use

"Flamin" is in demand for various diseases of the biliary tract and liver, because this drug improves the outflow of bile, reduces the activity of inflammation in the biliary tract and has a positive effect on liver function. Is this medication prescribed to children, for what diseases and in what doses?

Release form

Flamin is produced in two forms.

  1. Granules. Such a medicine must be diluted with water to obtain a medicinal suspension. It is easy to give it to children, so this "Flamin" is marked "for children" on the box. This medication is yellow-gray grains, packed in portioned sachets of 1.38 gr. The granules are odorless or have an indistinct aroma. One box contains 10 or 20 sachets.
  2. Pills... They have a round shape, characteristic smell and yellow color. Such tablets can have a grayish or brown tint, as well as blotches of light or dark yellow color. They are placed in cell packs of 10 and are sold in 10-30 tablets per pack.

Composition

The main component of any form of "Flamin" are flavonoids obtained from the flowers of the sand immortelle. Their dosage in 1 packet of granules is 5 mg, and from one tablet the patient receives them in the amount of 50 mg. In addition, the granules contain sorbic acid, sucrose, pectin and citric acid. Solid "Flamin" includes calcium stearate, corn starch, milk sugar and magnesium hydroxycarbonate.

Operating principle

The main property that appears after both forms of "Flamin" enter the child's body is the choleretic effect. Flavonoids in this medicine:

  • stimulate the secretion of bile through a relaxing effect on the muscles of the biliary tract;
  • increase the content of bilirubin and bile acids in the secreted bile (this action is called choleretic);
  • change the chemical composition of bile and its viscosity;
  • increase the tone of the gallbladder;
  • have an antispasmodic effect;
  • activate the production of gastric juice;
  • slow down the removal of a food lump from the stomach, due to which food is digested more efficiently;
  • have anti-inflammatory, as well as wound healing effects;
  • reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood, since they contribute to the secretion of this substance in the bile;
  • have some antibacterial effect on gram-positive microorganisms.

Indications

Since "Flamin" affects the function of the liver and biliary tract, the drug is in demand for pathologies of these organs. The drug is prescribed:

  • with hepatitis;
  • with cholecystitis;
  • with biliary dyskinesia;
  • with hepatocholecystitis.

At what age is it prescribed?

Flamin for Children can be used even in the smallest patients. This form of medication is contraindicated only for infants of the first month of life. The tablet preparation, which is usually prescribed for adults, can be given from the age of 12.

Contraindications

"Flamin" granules are not used if the child has:

  • revealed gallstone disease;
  • found intolerance to any of the components of the granules or tablets;
  • obstructive jaundice was diagnosed;
  • there is a deficiency of isomaltase or sucrose;
  • there is a fructose intolerance;
  • revealed glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Contraindications to the use of tablets are the same, but solid medicine is also not given for lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency and gastrointestinal ulcer disease (if such a disease has worsened).

Caution in the use of any form of "Flamin" is required by children with high blood pressure. The drug in granules is given to patients with diabetes mellitus only under medical supervision.

Side effects

Like many other herbal preparations, Flamin can provoke an allergic reaction. If it occurs, you should stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. In rare cases, the medication can increase blood pressure. In such a situation, a doctor's consultation is also necessary.

Instructions for use

Suspension made from "Flamin for Children" is given to young patients three times a day. The medicine should be drunk half an hour before meals. To make the drug, the contents of one sachet are combined with 7.5 ml of water - this is about 1.5 teaspoons or 0.5 dessert spoons. It is also convenient to measure the required amount of water with a syringe, for example, drawing with a 5 ml syringe, first 5 ml, and then another 2.5 ml.

Water for diluting the granules should be taken freshly boiled and cooled (it should be at room temperature). After stirring the medicine so that it becomes homogeneous, the drug is given to the child in the following daily doses:

  • if the child is less than a year old, then he is supposed to take only 1 sachet of baby Flamin per day, which corresponds to a dosage of 2.5 ml per dose;
  • small patients 1-3 years old are given a suspension of two sachets during the day, that is, 5 ml of suspension at a time;
  • a child of 4-5 years old should take 3 sachets per day, so a single dose will be 7.5 ml;
  • if the patient is 5-12 years old, then during the day he must drink a suspension made from 4 packages of "Flamin for Children" (10 ml per dose).

For children over 12 years old, the suspension is replaced with a tablet form. For such patients, the drug is usually given 1 tablet per dose, but in some cases, the doctor may increase a single dose to two tablets. The mode of application of "Flamin" in tablets for adolescents 12 years of age and older is the same as in the treatment with suspension, that is, the remedy is given 30 minutes before meals three times a day. The medication is washed down with a small amount of warm water.

The duration of application of "Flamin" both in granules and in tablets should be determined by the doctor, since it can be either 10 or 40 days. Re-treatment is also possible only after consultation with a pediatrician, gastroenterologist or other specialist.

Overdose

If you accidentally give a child more suspension or tablets than is appropriate for his age, dry mouth, diarrhea and other ailments may occur. For treatment, symptomatic agents are used.

Interaction with other medications

Since the active substances of "Flamin" are able to enhance the action of aminocholine or metronidazole, such a choleretic agent is often added to the complex for the treatment of giardiasis.

Terms of sale

Both types of "Flamin" are non-prescription drugs, therefore they are sold in the pharmacy to anyone who wants but, despite the herbal composition and relative safety, it is recommended to consult a specialist when buying for a child. The average price of 20 sachets of baby Flamin is 240-280 rubles, and for 30 tablets you need to pay about 140-170 rubles.

Storage conditions

During storage, the tablets should not be affected by the sun's rays and high humidity, and the temperature during storage should be below +25 degrees. In addition, the drug should be kept out of the reach of small children. The shelf life of the solid form "Flamin" is quite long and is 5 years.

Storage conditions for "Flamin" in granules are the same, but the shelf life of unopened sachets is less (2 years). A suspension mixed with water can be stored for up to 10 days, and before each use it should be shaken, since the components of the drug eventually settle to the bottom of the container in which they are located.

Reviews

On the treatment of children with "Flamin" in granules, they respond mostly positively. Its main advantages are called a plant base, an affordable price, the possibility of using it at an early age and a quick healing effect.

According to the parents, the drug helps to get rid of flatulence, constipation, painful sensations and other symptoms that manifest biliary dyskinesia, cholecystitis or hepatitis. Powder slurry is easy to make, and the sweet taste makes it easy for most children to take. In isolated negative reviews, there are complaints about the occurrence of an allergic reaction.

Analogs

One of the most popular remedies that can replace "Flamin" is called "Hofitol"... Such a choleretic preparation also contains a plant extract, but not from the immortelle, but from the artichoke. He has a mild effect, but the scope of this medication is narrower - it is usually prescribed to eliminate heaviness in the abdomen, belching, bloating and other uncomfortable symptoms. "Hofitol" is presented in several forms, but for children, a solution that is taken orally is more often chosen.

Another plant analogue of "Flamin" is "Holosas". This syrup contains rosehip extract, which has both choleretic and hepatoprotective effects. "Holosas" is used with the same indications as "Flamin", but it is contraindicated for children under 3 years old, and for patients over three years old it is prescribed only under the supervision of a doctor.

In some cases, the doctor may recommend instead of "Flamin" a drug with a similar therapeutic effect called "Allohol"... Its composition includes extracts from garlic and nettle, as well as dry bile and activated carbon. This medication is available in tablets, approved from the age of 7.
