Release form

Composition

Additionally, the drug contains an ointment base, which includes stearin, purified water, propyl and methyl parahydroxybenzoate, an emulsifier, corn oil, glycerin and petroleum jelly.

Operating principle

The heparin, which is part of the ointment, has an anticoagulant and antiexudative effect. This substance has mild anti-inflammatory properties. Thanks to its use, tissue swelling decreases, and blood clots and hematomas resolve faster. Supplementing the drug with benzyl nicotinate has a positive effect on the absorption of heparin, and benzocaine is a local anesthetic, which gives the ointment an analgesic effect.

Indications

Heparin ointment is used:

  • For bruises and injuries to muscles, joints or tendons.
  • With subcutaneous hematomas, including the consequences of injections.
  • With edema of soft tissues.
  • With external hemorrhoids.

Some doctors prescribe medication along with the gel "Tizol" with pneumonia or bronchitis, since this combination of drugs has an anti-inflammatory and expectorant effect. It is advised to lubricate with these agents when coughing the area between the shoulder blades at night.

From what age is it allowed to take?

The annotation attached to the medication indicates that heparin ointment is not used until the age of 18. However, in the absence of intolerance and when indicated, pediatricians and traumatologists prescribe this remedy for children over a year old.

The medication can be applied to the skin and the infant, however, such treatment for children under one year old must be monitored by a doctor.

Contraindications

The drug is not used in case of hypersensitivity to heparin or other ingredient of the ointment. The ointment should not be used to treat the skin with purulent processes. Overdose

You should not mix the drug with other drugs that are used topically, especially with antihistamines, tetracycline antibiotics and drugs from the group of anti-inflammatory nonsteroidal drugs.
