Pastel "Sonnet": advantages and disadvantages of products

Pastel is one of the most popular materials for children's creativity. As a rule, it is completely safe for humans, moreover, it usually has a shape convenient for babies in the form of a crayon or a pencil without a shell, which allows you to draw on either side. This is very convenient, given the insufficiently developed fine motor skills of the child's hands, however, adult artists in recent decades also do not refuse to use pastels, even in the process of creating serious works.

The line of art materials "Sonnet" from the famous plant "Nevskaya Palitra", which includes oil pastels, is one of the best solutions.

Why buy?

First of all, for any person who is not by hearsay familiar with drawing and professional drawing supplies, the very phrase "Nevskaya Palitra" sounds like music, because in Soviet times this brand was considered the clear leader of the domestic paint and varnish industry in the part that concerned professional artists ... Times are now completely different, and the market is overflowing with many high-quality imported products, which were simply impossible to get to, but reviews indicate that this brand is still in vogue - its products are in demand not only in Russia, but also in many countries throughout the world.

It should be noted that the "Sonnet" series is intended not so much for professional drawing as for professional drawing training. The manufacturer does not hide the fact that paints are of higher quality, including those in its own lineup. For this reason, all the advantages of such a pastel should be considered precisely in the vein that it is not an absolute ideal, but simply a very good drawing tool, significantly superior in quality to most of the analogues available in any clerical department.

In addition, it should be understood that the "Sonnet" series includes not only pastels, but also other types of paints, therefore, you need to be more careful when choosing a box in a specialized store.

Advantages

If we talk about specific advantages, then the following are usually distinguished.

  • The manufacturer pays great attention to own pigment production and constant implementation of new technologiesTherefore, pastel, which is a fairly old invention, is now a real technological innovation. Since almost all components are produced by the same company, the risk of low-quality products is significantly reduced due to the fact that one of the suppliers has released a defect. Decades of experience gained in a wide variety of economic conditions allow us to speak of the manufacturer as a reliable partner.
  • The Sonnet pastel can hardly be called cheap. For the average child who does not attend art school, it is worth choosing something cheaper. At the same time, in terms of a combination of price and quality, a set with this name will turn out to be the best solution, because its characteristics are in many ways close to professional ones, but the price is still affordable. Buyers note that such crayons practically do not fade, although there are still no expensive cadmium and cobalt pigments in them.

  • A peculiar feature of the series is maximum ease of use, after all, it is precisely this quality that turns out to be most in demand among those who are just learning to draw. Pastels "clings" well to quite different bases, and although it is, of course, better to use special corrugated paper, the range of available bases is not limited to it alone.
  • The company offers good selection of assortment of high quality teaching pastels. The manufacturer abandoned the pursuit of many subtle shades - the novice does not need them, but instead focused on the release of the basic tones that every artist will definitely need. Sets of 12 and 24 colors are perfect for a beginner child who is just mastering the basics of fine art, but 36 or 48 colors are already a gift worthy of a young master.

Criticism

It should be noted that knowledgeable people usually do not criticize the Sonnet pastel, understanding its true purpose. Another thing is that parents, choosing such products for their children, students of art schools, often criticize the products of "Nevskaya Palitra".

Most often it goes to the manufacturer, of course, for a rather high price. Although such a set is not considered expensive, it still costs hundreds of rubles, depending on the width of the color palette. Most parents are ready to purchase such a set once, but a child needs a lot of pastels to draw, which hits the family budget very hard. However, you really have to pay for quality.

Quality, by the way, is also criticized. On the Internet, there are hardly any reviews that serious artists use the Sonnet pastel, but you need to understand that this material is educational.

Professionals, who, in principle, are still quite rarely guided by pastels, prefer to choose, albeit of better quality, but also more expensive sets that ordinary people simply cannot afford.
