Can children be included in the passport of parents?

Traveling abroad, studying at a foreign college, tourist trips and excursions - there are no boundaries for a modern Russian child. There are only some legal restrictions. It is much easier to go on vacation, study or treatment if the child is entered in the passport of the mother, father or both parents. Making a separate foreign document for a child is much more expensive and more troublesome. Not everyone knows if it is always possible to write a child's name on an existing adult passport. This issue should be dealt with as concretely as possible.

In which passport can a child be entered?

It is no secret that today adult Russians have two types of foreign identity cards - old and new passports. It is possible to enter data about a child only in one type of passport - old, paper, with a validity period of 5 years.

In biometric passports, data about children is not entered due to the fact that they simply do not have special pages and sections for this.

If mom and dad have biometric passports, the child can travel abroad only after receiving his own passport.

Let's say a mother or father has an old passport, it is still valid, and there is a desire to enroll the child in it. There is also an important nuance here - the age of the child himself. If the son or daughter is already 14 years old, it becomes impossible to enter data automatically. It is possible to count on the fact that the child will be entered in the parental document only if he has not yet turned fourteen.

Another important aspect is the child's citizenship. It is possible to speak about the possibility of entering information only if the son or daughter has Russian citizenship. This fact is confirmed by a birth certificate. If, for a number of reasons, the child is a citizen of another country, such changes in the adult's passport will be refused.

Only the mother and father of the child (people indicated in the birth certificate as mother and father) can write a child into a foreign identity document. Neither grandparents, nor brothers and sisters have the right to enter information about a young traveler in their documents.

It is possible to enter information about a child into an old passport in two cases: when an adult receives a document and after that. Both of these cases are worth considering in more detail.

What documents do I need?

Situation number 1. The parent wants to get an old passport, which already contains information about the child.

In this case, you will not have to pay for entering information about your daughter or son, this service is completely free.

It is enough to fill out a special form - an attachment to the application for issuing a passport to the FMS (another option is a multifunctional center of public services). It indicates the child's personal data: his name and surname, date and place of birth, series and number of the birth certificate, the facts of the change of surname, if any.

In addition, you must provide the original and a copy of the birth certificate of the child, as well as photographs of the child in size 3x4 or 3.5x4.5 in the amount of two pieces. Photos can be either color or black and white.

If there is a need to add several children to the passport of an adult, then the above package of documents is provided by the recipient of the passport for each child separately.

Situation number 2. I already have a passport, it became necessary to enter the child into it after receiving it.

In this case, you will have to pay a small state fee (500 rubles). The FMS or the multifunctional center will need to submit the original and a copy of the child's birth certificate, a completed application for amending the passport with the personal data of the child, two photos 3x4 or 3.5x4.5 (color does not matter). You will also need to fill out a special form and present the passport itself and its copy.

If you have to enter several children, there is no need to pay a fee for each, this fee is fixed. No matter how many children you have, you only have to pay 500 rubles to enter their names in your passport.

It is rather difficult to answer the question of how long it will take to make changes to a foreign passport. This usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.

Registration of an application through the portal "Gosuslugi"

An adult Russian can declare a desire to enter a child into his passport in person by contacting the territorial office of the Federal Migration Service, at the MFC (multifunctional center). In addition, you can apply remotely through the portal for the provision of public services - gosuslugi.ru.

You will need to register on the site, after that - go to the section "Government services". There you will need to go to the section "Foreign passport" and fill out all the necessary forms, carefully following the instructions of the system. This registration will not take much time, but you will still have to hand over and receive your passport in person - after the documents have been reviewed by a government agency. You will receive an answer about the possibility of providing the required services.

To apply for a child's own passport on the portal, you need to select the section "Public services" - "Obtaining a foreign passport by a minor citizen under 14 years of age" and follow the instructions of the system.

Tips

If time permits and there are appropriate financial possibilities, it is better to issue the child's own passport. This is a more advantageous option, a personal passport will open up additional "horizons" for the child. The fact is that a child registered in the parent's document will be able to travel only accompanied by the person in whose passport he is indicated.

This is not always possible, since it may be necessary to send the child to rest or to be treated with a grandmother or other relative, with a teacher or coach (if the child is part of a tourist group or goes to a competition abroad).

If the data on the child under guardianship is entered into the foreign passport, then the guardian (who is the holder of the old-style foreign passport), in addition to the documents listed above, will need to present to the state authorities the documents on establishing guardianship and a certificate from the guardianship and guardianship authorities.

When traveling to some Western countries, the child is required to have their own document. The absence of such and the presence of only one entry in the parent's passport of the old model in some cases may become a reason for refusal to enter, in obtaining a visa.

It is better to go to some countries with an old document and children inscribed in it - such countries include Lithuania, Bulgaria, Poland and Italy.

If the mother and child have different surnames, then to the list of documents required to enter information about the child, you will need to attach papers that will confirm the relationship (marriage certificate, divorce certificate, certificate from the passport office about other reasons for changing the name).

If at the family council a decision is made to obtain a passport for the child, you should not rush to issue a biometric document to the crumb, since the baby's appearance is changing rapidly. Better to stay on an old passport, valid for 5 years, without biometric data and an electronic chip.

It makes sense to issue such a modern biometric document for foreign travel for a child over 14 years old. Although it is legally possible to issue a biometric passport even for a newborn baby.
