Dormikind for children: instructions for use

If a baby has trouble sleeping, this worries parents and often prompts them to see a doctor who will examine the little one and prescribe treatment. In order for the baby to fall asleep better and sleep peacefully all night, there are harmless remedies that can be given even to babies up to a year. One of them is the homeopathic drug "Dormikind". Such a multicomponent remedy is very much in demand for restless sleep or difficulty falling asleep, but before using it in children, mothers should learn more about its effect, permitted dosages and possible harm.

Release form and composition

"Dormikind" is produced in Germany in only one form, which are small round tablets. They have a white color and a sweetish taste, thanks to which the drug is absorbed without problems by children. As noted on the packaging and in the instructions, "Dormikind" is intended specifically for young patients - aged 0 to 6 years. The tablets are sold in a brown glass bottle of 150.

The action of such a tool is provided by several ingredients.

  • Magnesium carbonicum in the amount of 20 mg in each tablet. The dilution of this magnesium compound is D10.
  • Zincum valerianicum presented in D12 dilution. The amount of this zinc compound with valeric acid in one tablet is 15 mg.
  • Substances from the small-flowered shoe, which are called ciprepedium, since in Latin this plant is also called Cypripedium. They are in Dormikind in D4 dilution, and their dosage in each tablet is also 15 mg.

Among the inactive components of "Dormikind" are milk sugar and talc, as well as magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose. Thanks to these compounds, the tablet has a dense structure and sweetness, and upon contact with saliva, it dissolves rather quickly.

Operating principle

The influence of "Dormikind" on the child's body is provided by the complex effects of its active substances. The magnesium carbonate present in the tablets helps to eliminate insomnia and nervous irritability. Zinc valerianate has properties to calm the nervous system, due to which such a component is very effective in affecting sleep and central nervous system problems. Ciprepedium is also indicated for nervous disorders, headaches, muscle spasms, insomnia and other problems.

Indications

The main reason for prescribing Dormikind for a child is sleep problems.

Such a remedy is used if the baby has difficulty falling asleep or sleeps very restlessly, constantly waking up at night or during daytime sleep.

Contraindications

"Dormikind" should not be given to babies with hypersensitivity to any of its components, and the presence of milk sugar in the tablets makes such a remedy undesirable for children with lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. This drug has no other contraindications.

Side effects

"Dormikind", like other homeopathic remedies, at the beginning of the use can provoke an exacerbation of symptoms. In such a situation, you need to show the baby to the doctor and, as a rule, the drug is replaced with an analogue.

Occasionally, an allergic reaction occurs to the pills, upon detection of which, you should immediately stop giving the drug to the little patient and contact the pediatrician to select another treatment.

Instructions for use

To clarify how to give the child "Dormikind" correctly, it is best to ask your doctor. In the paper annotation attached to the preparation, the most common method of application is indicated, which provides for a four-fold intake of 1 pill. The drug must be put into the mouth and dissolve slowly.

It is best to give a pill to a child 30 minutes before meals. If the baby has just eaten, the reception is recommended in half an hour. If "Dormikind" is prescribed to a baby or a young child who cannot absorb tablets for a long time, the drug can be dissolved in water and given in liquid form. To dissolve one tablet, take a teaspoon of boiled water (5 ml).

The duration of the use of the product should be checked with the doctor, but the maximum "Dormikind" is given no longer than 4 weeks. If the child has been receiving the drug for 14 days and no improvement is seen, a second consultation with the doctor is recommended.

Overdose and drug interactions

There have not yet been cases when a high dose of Dormikind had a harmful effect on the child's body. But, if the baby accidentally swallows a lot of pills, you should induce vomiting and show the child to the doctor. With regard to drug compatibility, the manufacturer does not provide such information. Therefore, if the child is already receiving any treatment, it is necessary to talk to the doctor about the possibility of the simultaneous use of "Dormikind" and the medicines taken by the little patient.

Terms of sale and storage

To buy pills in a pharmacy, it is not required to show a prescription from a doctor, but it is advisable to consult a specialist before giving Dormikind to a child. The average price of one package of the product is about 550-600 rubles.

It is recommended to store the drug for the entire shelf life, which is 5 years, in a dry place, where the bottle with tablets will be inaccessible to babies. The manufacturer calls the optimal storage temperature range from +15 to +25 degrees.

Reviews

About 2/3 of the reviews about the use of "Dormikind" in children are positive. In them, mothers say that the pills helped to improve night sleep, eliminate tearfulness, anxiety, restless behavior, irritability and other negative symptoms.

The advantages of the drug include its harmlessness, rare side effects and the possibility of using it even in newborns. However, there are also negative reviews, in which they complain about the lack of result from the admission or too little effect. In addition, one of the disadvantages of the drug is called its high cost.

Doctors also speak differently about Dormikind. Some experts often prescribe it to babies and note a positive effect on sleep. Other doctors, including the famous pediatrician Komarovsky, doubt the effectiveness of any homeopathic remedies and do not advise giving such pills to children.

Analogs

One of the analogues of "Dormikind" is the solution "Passidorm". This is also a homeopathic remedy, which has a hypnotic effect. It contains passionflower, hops, metallic zinc and escholzia. Thanks to these ingredients, it helps to relieve sleep problems and frequent awakenings at night. However, since ethyl alcohol acts as an auxiliary component (its total content in the solution is 64 percent by volume), Passidorm is not used in patients under 12 years of age.

It can be replaced by another homeopathic remedy from the well-known company "Heel", which is called "Valerianachel". In addition to valerian, such drops also contain hawthorn, chamomile, lemon balm, hops, picric acid, potassium bromatum and some other components. The product contains ethanol, but in less quantity than Passidorm, therefore it is allowed from the age of 6, and sometimes it is prescribed for younger children, for example, at 2 or 3 years. It calms the child, normalizes his sleep and has a beneficial effect on the state of the nervous system.

Instead of Dormikind, your doctor may recommend herbal medicines used for sleep disorders, such as Passifit syrup or Notta drops. Supplements are also in high demand, among which it is worth noting drops called "Bayu-bye". They include extracts of peony, oregano, mint, hawthorn and motherwort fruit, and glutamic acid. These components have a calming and restorative effect, as well as a positive effect on the functioning of the central nervous system, digestive system and other organs.

Another analogue, which has a beneficial effect on the nervous system and, in particular, on night sleep, is "Glycine". Such sweet tablets must be kept in the mouth until dissolved, like Dormikind. In addition, they can also be used from birth.
