Children's folding beds

Children's beds can be of various shapes and modifications. One of the popular such models - folding - will be discussed in our article.

Features:

Of the positive aspects of this type of furniture, the following can be distinguished:

  • Excellent build quality and material.
  • Saving space.
  • Safety.
  • Interesting design.

Do not forget about the negative aspects of this furniture:

  • Some cheap models have poor quality mechanisms. With the active play activity of children, the result will be the failure of these elements.
  • Not all beds are equipped with a slatted bottom, which, by the way, ventilates the bed and due to this, unpleasant odors do not accumulate in such models. If a plywood bottom is found in the bed, it is better to replace it with a rack and pinion.
  • Inexpensive models are usually made of several materials that are not always safe for the child's health.

Varieties

Consider some of the categories of folding bed options.

For the smallest children

In this category of furniture for toddlers, two types of folding options are worth noting:

  • The frame is made of metal. Such a model for children is distinguished by an enviable compactness when assembled and, when unfolded, turns into a full-fledged sleeping bed. It is easy to transport, since the model provides for the presence of wheels, which is very convenient if parents are going on a trip or outdoors. The weight of this design varies from 7 to 15 kilograms. The frame is made of metal with a fabric with mesh elements, sometimes it comes with a mattress included. This type of furniture can safely become a play area for a kid - a playpen, which is very convenient for long trips;

  • Wood option. Differs in the presence of a transformation function. This model is ideal if the baby has recently been born. After all, the fences that the model of this type of furniture is equipped with will reliably protect your baby from falls. As the baby grows, the baby bed gradually turns into a full bed.

Such a modification of children's furniture is often equipped with pull-out elements or even additional cabinets for children's paraphernalia.

For older children

Here are the options for such furniture:

  • Growing beds... Furniture is characterized by the ability to move apart in length as the baby grows up. It is used from the very birth of a child to adolescence. Some models are available with protective bumpers. Material - natural wood.

There are a lot of options for this product: it can be a fabulous pirate ship, a racing car or a rocket. The bed modification can be presented in two parts. The lower tier has wheels and rolls out from under the upper one.

  • Loft bed... If there is a small child in the house, then his sleeping place is still closer to the floor. As soon as he grows up, the sleeping bed will be slightly higher than usual. Thus, the lower space is freed up for games and other activities.

  • Eurobook... The mechanism for deploying the berth is so elementary that the smallest owner of the berth will happily cope with it. The whole process consists of two points: pulling out the seat of the sofa and lowering the back from the normal position to the perpendicular one.
  • Roll-out sofa bed... In this model, the back of the sofa remains in the same position. The process of unfolding itself is quite painstaking, so parents must definitely come to the aid of the child.

  • Sedoflex... The transformation principle is taken from the "clamshell". In this model, only the part of the bed on which we are sitting moves, and the armrests and backrest remain in the same state
  • Bunk beds... Such models are designed to accommodate several children on it. There are two- and three-tiered. In the sliding version, the lower part rolls out from under the upper one.

Folding beds

Perfect for small rooms. There are vertical and horizontal:

  • Vertical folding bed. It can be single, double and one-and-a-half. In any case, this bed does not require low ceilings. Such a model is fixed to the wall, therefore it is necessary that the bearing capacity of the wall panels is high. In this case, the following mechanisms are used: spring, pneumatic, gas or electric.

  • Horizontal folding bed. Such a bed fits in a cabinet niche, and it takes a little effort to bring it to a horizontal position. There are single or one-and-a-half.

One of the significant disadvantages of this design is that you cannot put anything in place of the bed. This area can be used either as a play area or for the same folding furniture. If the room has such a design, then it will be necessary to provide for an option for relaxing in the daytime: a sofa or mini-sofa:

  • Built-in... This is a unique version of a folding bed that can be transformed into either a hallway or a children's table. Children like it very much.
  • Bunk beds-transformers... Saving space with such a model will be ensured. Cons: high cost.

The upper tier of such a model of furniture is usually stationary or in some cases retracted into the wall, while the lower part can be made in the form of a folding structure or a transforming bed, which can be easily transformed into other furniture. The material of this design is MDF, chipboard or high-strength steel.

In most cases, the color scheme of such furniture is beige, ivory or light brown. The shape of individual furniture options for toddlers, along with the traditional rectangular, is both round and oval.
