Cough tablets "Termopsol" for children: instructions for use

Often children with a cold begin to "choke" cough. Therefore, every mother should have cough pills in her home medicine cabinet. Is Thermopsol suitable for children? Let's try to figure it out.

Composition of the medicine

All types of cough, dry or with phlegm, can be influenced by a reliable and effective drug - Russian-made Termopsol tablets. This medication is made from natural material - powdered perennial medicinal herb Thermopsis lanceolate, sodium bicarbonate, talc, starch. The therapeutic mucoregulatory (expectorant) property of thermopsis herb has been known for a long time.

Even in ancient times, with the help of this amazing plant, people successfully treated inflammations of the respiratory tract, herbal infusions were used as an effective means for coughing up phlegm - clots of viscous mucus. Cough when using the Termopsol dragee already in the first hours of taking the drug becomes productive and less prolonged. Termopsol cough tablets have anti-inflammatory properties and affect the tone of the smooth muscles of the respiratory system.

Properties of the drug

Doctors prescribe Termopsol tablets without fear from the age of 3, but the remedy can even be used to treat cough in infants, because side reactions when taking it are virtually excluded. They can occur only in case of an overdose or use of the product after 48 months from the date of production.

The peculiarity of the Termopsol preparation lies in its versatility: it helps the sick with both dry and wet coughs in combination with other medications used in the treatment of inflammatory processes and viral infections of the respiratory system. Pediatricians may prescribe this drug for the following pathologies:

  • bronchitis;
  • tracheitis;
  • pharyngitis.

The release form of the drug is only tablets. The package can contain 10 or 20 pieces. It is risky to use this drug without consulting a doctor, since it is very important here to very clearly determine the dosage, which may not coincide with that indicated in the instructions for use. The doctor, having examined the child, takes into account his individual characteristics, assesses the degree of damage to the body and selects the optimal dose of the drug and the duration of its administration.

Thermopsol has a complex effect, therefore it is used in the treatment of children and adults with any type of cough. The drug is able to create conditions for the formation of mucus, liquefy it, make it well expectorated... It stimulates the activity of muscles and receptors in the body, which are responsible for the removal of phlegm and mucus from the trachea and bronchi.

Pharmachologic effect

The herb thermopsis is capable of increasing the secretion of the bronchial glands, non-aggressively affecting the receptors of the gastric mucosa, and stimulating the activity of the respiratory and vomiting centers. Sodium bicarbonate dilutes phlegm. In the composition of Termopsol tablets, these substances give the drug bright expectorant properties.

The instructions for the medication indicate that Termopsol tablets can be prescribed to adults and children over 12 years old. The recommended daily dose is 3 pills a day after meals. The interval between doses is 8 hours. It is recommended to drink the tablets with warm water. This will speed up the liquefaction and separation of mucus. Duration of admission is up to one week. At the decision of the attending physician, the pill intake may be extended. During treatment with Thermopsol, side reactions can be observed:

  • allergy;
  • vomiting (in case of overdose);
  • pain in the navel;
  • rash;
  • hives;
  • swelling.

In exceptional cases, anaphylactic shock may develop.

When is the medicine prescribed?

Cough pills Thermopsol in combination with other drugs are prescribed by doctors for inflammation of the bronchi and trachea. These diseases are usually accompanied by a debilitating cough and viscous, difficult-to-remove mucous secretions from the respiratory system. The instructions indicate that a one-time dose for children under the age of six months is 0.01 grams. The dosage for older children is increasing - adolescents from 12 years old can take 0.3 grams 3 times a day. Small children can suck the tablet by holding it under the tongue. But a more acceptable way is this: the pills are crushed in a spoon, mixed with water and given to the baby to drink.

In any case, the attending physician prescribes the dose for each specific small patient. The effect of the drug begins to manifest itself about an hour after taking it and lasts up to 5-6 hours.

During treatment, be sure to drink plenty of warm drink. In this case, the effect of the drug will accelerate and the effect will be more significant.

Contraindications to use

Termopsol tablets should not be given to children who have an intolerance to the components of the drug, an allergic reaction to them, as well as a stomach or duodenal ulcer.

The drug is contraindicated in:

  • inflammation of the liver;
  • epilepsy;
  • head injuries;
  • intolerance to fructose;
  • diabetes mellitus.

Thermopsol is undesirable for women carrying babies, since the drug can provoke a miscarriage of the fetus due to an increase in the tone of the uterus.

With extreme caution, it should be given to children under 3 years of age. Treatment with Thermopsol reduces the quantity and quality of milk of women who are breastfeeding. Hypertension is also a serious reason for refusing to fight cough with Thermopsol tablets.

Interaction with other medications

In order not to resist the removal of sputum from the respiratory tract, Thermopsol should not be combined with drugs that contain any antitussive substances, for example, codeine, as they slow down the absorption of alkaloids and reduce the effectiveness of the drug. These are drugs with the following properties:

  • enveloping;
  • astringent;
  • suppressing the cough reflex.

If any side effect is found, taking Termopsol tablets should be discontinued and, on the advice of a doctor, continue treatment with alternative drugs.

Purchase and storage

You can store Termopsol tablets for 4 years. The storage area should be dry, dark, cool, out of reach of children. After this period, the medicine cannot be used. The drug is commercially available, sold in pharmacies without a prescription.

Analogs

Both dry and wet coughs can be treated with time-tested ammonia-anise drops. This mixture also has an excellent expectorant effect. It consists of:

  • anise oil;
  • ammonia in solution;
  • ethanol.

These components also thin phlegm, stimulate bronchial cleansing, improve digestion, and have an anti-inflammatory effect. The medicine is prescribed if the child is sick:

  • bronchitis;
  • pneumonia;
  • tracheitis;
  • laryngitis;
  • whooping cough.

Anise cough drops, combining them with thermopsis, "Alteyka" - cough syrup, other drugs with expectorant effect, are used in the complex therapy of inflammation of the respiratory system.

The perennial herb thermopsis forms the basis of other drugs with mucoregulatory properties:

  • Amtersola;
  • Antitusina;
  • Codelac.

On the basis of this plant, in addition to medicines in the form of tablets, decoctions, infusions, teas, dry mixtures, syrups are made. According to parental reviews, babies are more willing to cough up syrups when they cough, and the doctor prescribes drugs in capsules and tablets for older children.

If the doctor prescribed Thermopsol tablets, made on the basis of the medicinal plant Thermopsis, as an expectorant for the child, you should carefully read the instructions for use, study the contraindications, possible side effects.

It is also important to strictly follow the doctor's recommendations, which takes into account the individual characteristics of the small patient, the complexity of the disease, the compatibility of the medicine with other medications.

Thermopsol gently affects the body in the fight against colds, viral infections, which must be treated immediately. The cough accompanying these ailments is very annoying for both adults and children, especially at night, disrupting sleep. Termopsol tablets have a stable therapeutic effect, help remove phlegm from the respiratory tract, and improve the patient's well-being.
