Problems with hands in children and adults from a psychosomatic point of view

Hands are an important part of the body, looking at which you can find out a lot of information about a person. They tell fortunes, determine age, communicate with the help of hand gestures and help themselves express certain thoughts.

Problems with hands can be very different: from injuries and burns to inflammation. And they can overtake people of all ages.

In this article, we will talk about what the psychosomatic causes of hand problems in adults and children can be.

What does medicine say?

Hands (or upper limbs) are part of the musculoskeletal system, without which human evolution would be impossible. It is the hands that make it possible to grab objects, as well as perform a great variety of other actions. The term “hand” in medicine is understood as several anatomical sections: shoulder, clavicle, scapula, forearm, radius and ulna, hand, wrist, consisting of eight bones in two rows, metacarpus and fingers, each of which has three phalanges.

The brain completely controls hand movement... In its cortex, special ventral regions are distinguished, located on the sides of the head. It is they, together with the primary motor cortex, that are activated every time the limbs move. If at the same time a person touches something, a section of the somatosensory cortex is activated.

Hand movements are also coordinated by special centers in the cerebellum, brain stem, and spinal cord. The complex mechanism of interaction provides a wide range of movements: from involuntary, for example, to maintain the balance of the body, to completely arbitrary, when a person needs to take something.

Since the work of the hands is controlled by means of electrical and nerve impulses, diseases of the upper extremities are often neurological in origin (if you do not take into account the injury).

The psychosomatic significance of the upper limbs

Psychosomatic medicine studies not only anatomy and physiology, but also their interaction with the psyche and psychological state of a person. In psychosomatics, hands embody action. Everything that we do, in one way or another, is connected with putting our hands into an active state.

With our hands we express emotions: we hug, push away, show tenderness or aggression, with our hands we convey information to each other, communicate, show gestures that are understandable to others. Thus, hands symbolize not only physical, but also emotional doing, active communication. If there is a problem with the hands at the level of the disease that has appeared, then the pain is most likely due to the development of an internal conflict... Ask yourself what you did wrong, what you didn’t do, what you’re going to do that could harm you or those around you.

  • Right hand, according to research by psychologist Liz Burbo, symbolizes the ability to give. If the right limb is sick or injured, then the person's processes of giving back their experiences, experiences, feelings are disturbed. It is difficult for him to show love and hug, it is difficult to hit someone, these people are largely dependent on the imposed social norms that consider the expression of love and anger indecent.
  • Left hand responsible for the ability to receive. If problems have arisen with the left hand, a person cannot normally receive someone else's experience, help, does not accept love, fences off tenderness and avoids conflict situations.

Cold hands are not a problem, but an individual feature. But when shaking hands, be sure to pay attention to this. People who have cold hands even in warmth do not usually feel joy from their work, from what they do, from relationships with loved ones.

  • If excessively dry hands (to the point that cracks appear on it), this can be a sign of emotional stinginess, as well as a difficult traumatic experience that still makes itself felt. Usually such an experience is associated with the fact that a person has done something wrong, wrong, he feels remorse and suffers from feelings of guilt.
  • If hand goes numb for no apparent reason, you should think about whether you know exactly what you are doing and why. The actions of such people are often contradictory and inconsistent.

Often, unreasonable numbness indicates that a person cannot decide on goals, preferences, he does not know what to do next, is confused, the future raises doubts in him.

  • If hands shaking (tremor), then the person has impaired nerve impulses - this may indicate that he is in a stressful situation, something that he has to do soon raises doubts about expediency, ethics, causes fear.
  • Hands are taken away and refuse to obey signals from the brain due to a severe internal disorder - a person's consciousness understands that something needs to be done, but cannot because of fear, disappointment, aggression, prejudice or destructive beliefs. Sometimes a violation of the conduction of nerve impulses from the cerebral cortex to the hands is due to the fact that a person has left a favorite business, for some reason, stopped doing it.

With a reluctance to feel and accept reality as it is, everything falls out of a person's hands, his hands become weak. If you do not want to do something, which is forced by circumstances or others, a rash appears on the hands, and they itch.

The psychosomatics of the hands is very complex and multifaceted, since much depends on the type of personality, temperament, character and specific location of the painful problem.

Causes of problems

Actions and feelings that fail to be realized are the main common psychosomatic cause. Individual anatomical parts of the upper extremities can tell in more detail what is being done or not done wrong.

Fingers

The smallest part of the hand. In psychosomatics, they can be regarded as mundane, household, small matters. Problems with fingers (felon, cuts, burns) most often tell a person that he has a minor annoyance because in everyday life or at work, not everything can be arranged as it should.

  • Arthritis of the joints of the fingers - a more painful condition that constrains actions, limiting them. Joint inflammation starts when anger and guilt are added to frustration. This often happens in adults who cannot organize a normal existence for children at the everyday level - create living conditions, convince the child not to make a big mistake in life.

Quite often, the disease occurs in old age, when people increasingly see the mistakes of their adult children and blame themselves for them subconsciously.

  • Index finger problem can say that our actions at the everyday level are indicative, commanding in nature, that with such actions we suppress loved ones and prevent them from acting in accordance with their ideas.
  • Little finger and his injuries (inflammation, burns, cuts, fractures) indicate that a lot of lies have accumulated in a person's actions.
  • Ring finger is responsible for the sphere of family and relationships with loved ones. If you don't want to do something to solve an urgent problem, then the ring finger will definitely suffer. Burrs, nail breaks, inflammations, scratches and cuts are exactly what will happen with enviable regularity until you decide on the action you need and benefit from.
  • Middle finger suffers when a person's sexual side of life is violated, he is dissatisfied with it and does nothing to change it.
  • Thumb suffers when a person (or himself) too much and often condemns.

Hands and wrist

Wrist pain is common in people who feel helpless and weak. Often it is this part of the hand that is injured in children who are helpless due to age. Also, problems with wrists begin with intermediaries - people who act as such in someone's conflict and controversial situations. This applies to both work and relationships with loved ones.

Elbows

Actions at the limit of possibilities, work that causes a painful feeling of dislike, as well as arrogance and the desire to go forward "pushing with elbows" may well lead to problems in this part of the upper limb.

The more aggressive a person is, the more severe the damage to the joint will be - anger is always closely associated with the inflammatory process.

Forearms and shoulders

Injuries, inflammatory lesions of the joint usually occur not before the action, but after it. Often this happens after a person even manages to achieve what he wants: he wanted a promotion at work - he was promoted, and the next day he falls down and gets a shoulder injury.

In children, their shoulders can hurt and injure when they are sarcastically ridiculed by relatives or peers for a long time, and then suddenly they begin to praise the child. Shoulder pain appears to counteract.

Features in childhood

In childhood, hands are injured more often - with their help, a child comprehends the world, its laws, tries everything by touch. In such conditions, it is quite easy to break your hands, burn yourself, cut yourself. If this happens often, pay attention to your parenting methods - if the child's actions are often not approved, if he is not taught that there is a great variety of actions, then any actions by themselves will cause an internal conflict in the child.

Schoolchildren have pain and injury in their hands due to the need to do what they don't want to do. If motivation to study is not created in time, then the child will often flaunt with a plaster and plaster, and hand treatment will become a habit in the family. Children who are not accustomed to work are frequent guests of the traumatologist's office. Also, greedy and withdrawn children often complain of problems with their hands.
