Dental problems in children and adults from the point of view of psychosomatics

Some children have strong and beautiful teeth from the first years of life, while others become patients of the dentist from an early age. For some adults, toothache is a rarity, while others constantly keep a small cash reserve in case of the next visit to the dentist, since the fillings do not hold, the gums hurt and bleed even after using medicated pastes and rinsing, the tooth enamel breaks off, the teeth are shaky for no apparent reason ...

In this article, we will look at some of the psychosomatic causes of toothache and dental problems.

Medical reasons

Bad teeth are largely due to heredity, according to traditional medicine. If their parents are weak and sick, then children, for the most part, inherit the same problems.... Caries, periodontal disease, malocclusion, cyst in the root canal - this is just an incomplete list of problems with the health of the jaw. Other reasons include a violation of the rules for caring for the oral cavity, the use of a large amount of sweets, a traumatic effect on the teeth.

Toothache is one of the strongest pain sensations. And most often, self-medication is unacceptable - you need the help of a dentist.

But look around carefully: not all children who eat a lot of sweets suffer from constant dental problems, not all adults who are not too zealous to keep their mouth clean visit the dentist with enviable regularity. Traditional medicine, most likely, can refer only to that very genetic predisposition - bad teeth, the dentist will authoritatively declare, is heredity.

A special section of medical science - psychosomatics sees deeper causes of frequent dental suffering.

Dental topic in psychosomatic medicine

Psychoanalysis of dental health problems (psychosomatic approach) allows you to answer the very difficult question for medicine - "Why?" From a physiological point of view, teeth in the human body are participants in digestion, which grind incoming food, thereby making it easier for the stomach to digest. And also teeth by nature are created for protection, self-defense.

Psychosomatics regards teeth as a demonstration of aggression... Surely everyone saw how animals, intimidating each other or warning about their decisive intentions, bared their teeth, show their teeth. This behavior was characteristic of humans at the very dawn of his evolution. Now there is no need to grin, but the purpose of the jaw has not changed from this. Subconsciously, any of us is ready to "show our teeth" if we feel a threat from the outside.

Children remember the meaning of teeth better than others. That is why they begin to bite in certain situations at preschool age. Then, as they acquire social skills and ideas about what is normal and what is antisocial, a mentally healthy person stops throwing his teeth into action.

A person with problem teeth is a person who is not ready to defend himself, does not know how, does not understand how and why he needs to defend himself and his safety. He is characterized by cowardice, indecision, doubt, inability to show his true emotions, fears, dependence on public opinion.

He diligently suppresses discontent and anger, but it is more comfortable for him to crush them inward than to snap and show everyone that he is "ready to take the fight", show his teeth.

How does the disease develop?

A person who is not ready to protect himself and everything that is dear to him most often suffers from a lack of calcium. In nature, everything is arranged in a balanced way - what the body does not need is rejected. The more indecisive a person is, the more difficult it is for him to decide on the choice of the path, his own actions, the less his body is ready for resilience, support... A “disarmament” program is subconsciously set up, which triggers a decrease in calcium concentration at the biochemical level (bones, by the way, also become more vulnerable).

To survive, such an "unarmed" person needs to do something to reduce the likelihood of an attack on him. And then a child or an adult turns on the socialization program, believing that "it will be safer in the flock." He begins to adjust to the environment, sometimes even curry favor, sacrifice his own interests for the sake of public opinion. Inside, a strong fear settles to lose the favor of society, to become an outcast. He increasingly speaks and thinks in the stereotypes of the crowd, he almost does not express his own opinion, if it differs from the general one. This is how caries starts.

No matter how hard the parents of such a student try, no matter what pastes they buy, what fillings they put on the child, he will suffer from caries with enviable regularity, even if he is, in general, deprived of sweets. Calcium preparations in this case will not help much either.

In third world countries, where parents do not really think about brushing their teeth every day, and no one has ever heard of nanopastes, the percentage of children with caries is significantly lower than in developed, civilized countries. The larger the society, the more developed the hierarchy is, the more there will be those who decide not to clap their teeth, but to obey the crowd.

Note that every kindergarten and classroom has leaders and subordinates. It is the "subordinates", of whom there are more, that there is a risk group for caries.

Pregnant women, who are often told about the risk of losing the beauty of their teeth during the period of carrying a baby, all as one believe that their teeth crumble and break due to the fact that calcium is taken by the child. But if this were true for everyone, then every expectant mother would suffer from dental ailments. In practice, not every pregnant woman has dental problems, and this is normal.

The real reason that a pregnant woman has a chipped or aching tooth is the very fear of falling out of the usual circle of safety that causes tooth decay in children.

Only expectant mothers are afraid not of public condemnation, but of anything else - pain in childbirth, giving birth to a defective baby, they are afraid that their husband will leave them, especially if they are in a financial and psychologically dependent position on him.

What about sweets, you ask? Really, carbohydrates in large quantities spoil the condition of the enamel... But we are talking, indeed, about large quantities that will not appear in a child's life just like that.

Let's imagine a mother or father who, for a number of reasons, cannot give their child full, normal parental love (busy, very busy, no time). It is they who, subconsciously suffering from the fact that “they have not given something to the child”, begin to replace the lack of this love with sweets and cakes - it is always easier to buy a chocolate for a child than to spend half an hour with him after a hard day for a heart-to-heart conversation. Turns out that a child who is little loved and fed a lot with sweets not only spoils his tooth enamel, but also accumulates internal aggression (all for the same reason, lack of protection and love)... It is she who starts the processes of dental diseases.

For adults and adolescents, caries is the fear of showing the world their constructive and completely natural natural aggression. Aching pain in the teeth is also one of these manifestations, the increased sensitivity is explained by the same psychosomatic cause.

What hurts?

Fortunately, not all of our teeth hurt at once, and therefore we need to understand that the place of localization of pain in the psychology of diseases plays an important role.

So, the upper jaw is responsible for protection... It symbolizes those attitudes that a person considers unshakable - family, home, professional. If there are problems with the upper teeth, then, with a high probability, the person is not all right with the feeling of safety and comfort at home, in the family, at work.

For example, a woman lives with one and the same man for a long time only because she is afraid to be left alone, although there has been no love for a long time, and she is not sure of her safety. A man is a satrap and a tyrant, but she is afraid to show her teeth, to defend herself, she endures everything. It is in such and similar situations that problems with the upper dentition develop.

Please note: the child cannot aggressively respond to the internal stress and actions of other family members, so the upper teeth in children hurt more often than the lower ones.

The lower dentition is responsible for the sense of ownership, predatory instincts. He is more mobile, and therefore pain in this part of the jaw is usually peculiar, as a response to the current situation, recent events. More often the lower teeth are destroyed and fall out in greedy people, often jealous and those seeking to take away, appropriate, take away, deprive. Sore lower teeth are quite common among entrepreneurs with an aggressive business style.

Front teeth give trouble for active, purposeful workaholics, accustomed to "grip the teeth" and "bite into the essence of the problem." If workaholism reaches the point of absurdity, then the subconscious load on the front teeth increases, which leads to a deterioration in their condition, to spalling, destruction.

Fangs are the “killing” part of the jaw. They are responsible for aggression in its purest form., but not the one that makes people grab their arms and run to destroy, but defensive aggression - the one that makes us rise to defend "our own".

There are children who do not cry when a toy is taken away from them, and according to psychosomatic observations, their fangs are cut through last. There are children who will try to win back their toy, even if the forces are obviously unequal. The second ones do not have problems with canines.

Wide chewing teeth are essential for chewing. They grind, grind not only food, but also the problem. therefore good chewing teeth are characteristic of patient, strong-willed people, hardy, not inclined to hasty decisions... They symbolize an important skill - to wait.

These teeth include wisdom tooth (Do you understand where this name comes from?). This tooth does not take root among those who are hurried and fussy, it hurts and requires prompt dental care to remove it. Chewing teeth are equally disturbing for both adults and children, because patience and a strong-willed approach are not taught at school, and this is a character trait.

Now, it's not hard to understand that:

  • Flux - a signal from the body that it is necessary to learn to endure, to show more will in something, not to rush.
  • Crooked front teeth - a signal that a person is trying too much to "grab", he needs to be more loyal, gentle, benevolent.
  • Clenched teeth - a sign of tension, the lack of the possibility of emotions.
  • Dental calculus - a sign of strong fear for one's safety, involuntary gnashing of teeth (in sleep and in reality) - a sign of internal aggressive experiences.

Diseases and diseases of the dentition can be easily treated and prevented if the true causes are understood, the true causes are accepted and the necessary internal work is done. Otherwise, you will have to get used to dentures.
