Erespal's analogs for children

Attention! Erespal (for cough) has been withdrawn from circulation throughout the country. It turned out to be dangerous for children.

"Erespal" is in demand for various diseases of the respiratory system, since such a drug affects the respiratory tract in several ways at once. It is produced in two forms (syrup and coated tablets), but in childhood, only a liquid version of the drug is prescribed, which is a brown-yellow sweet transparent liquid. Such "Erespal" is sold in plastic bottles containing 150 or 250 ml of medicine.

However, in some situations, the use of "Erespal" is impossible, for example, if the child reacted to the syrup with an allergic rash or the medicine was not in the nearest pharmacy. In this case, the parents are interested in what analogues can be used to replace it and which of the similar drugs is best to choose.

Composition and action

The drug contains fenspiride hydrochloride at a dosage of 2 mg per milliliter. This ingredient determines the main healing effects of Erespal:

  • Reducing the activity of inflammation. This effect of the drug is associated with antagonism in relation to substances that are formed in the body during an inflammatory or allergic reaction. The drug blocks receptors for histamine, and also affects the formation of bradykinin, leukotrienes, serotonin and other compounds.
  • Prevention of bronchospasm. Under the action of "Erespal", the smooth muscles of the bronchi relax if they are already spasmodic. In addition, the active substance of the syrup helps prevent spasm of smooth muscles in various diseases of the respiratory system (this effect is called anti-bronchoconstrictor).
  • Reducing swelling of the mucous membrane. This effect of the drug is called anti-exudative. Thanks to him, taking a syrup helps to relieve an existing mucosal edema or prevent its development at the onset of the disease.
  • Effect on the mucous secretion of the bronchi. Since fenspiride also affects alpha1-adrenergic receptors, the use of "Erespal" affects the secretion of mucus in the cells of the bronchi. The result of this effect will be a decrease in the viscosity of sputum, which will improve its coughing.

So that the syrup remains liquid and does not deteriorate during the entire shelf life (it is 3 years, and no special conditions are needed to store the medicine), it contains glycerin, purified water, parabens and potassium sorbate. For a pleasant aroma, honey flavoring and vanilla tincture are added to the medicine, and the sweet taste of the medicine is provided by sucrose and saccharin.

When is it used in children?

The syrup is prescribed for small patients over two years old with various pathologies of the respiratory tract, which are manifested by hoarseness, barking, wet or dry cough, nasal discharge, sore throat and other respiratory symptoms. The reason for prescribing Erespal for a child is:

  • bronchitis;
  • ARVI;
  • rhinopharyngitis;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • laryngotracheitis;
  • flu;
  • adenoiditis;
  • otitis;
  • tracheitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • measles;
  • whooping cough and other diseases.

Compositional analogs

If Erespal is not available in the pharmacy, it can be replaced with any other medicine, the action of which is also provided by fenspiride. Such a replacement is in demand and, if desired, to save money, since all analogues of Erespal are somewhat cheaper (the average price of 150 ml of syrup is 270 rubles). In the form of a syrup, such drugs are produced based on fenspiride hydrochloride:

  • Russian drug "Eladon";
  • Polish medicine "Sirep";
  • the drug "Epistat" from the Hungarian company Gedeon Richter;
  • product of the Sandoz company "Erispirus" from Slovenia.

The concentration of fenspiride in all these medicines is the same as in "Erespal" - 2 mg / ml, so they are used for the same indications and are also allowed from the age of two.

Analogues with similar action

If a child is diagnosed with an allergy to Erespal or the drug is ineffective, the doctor will select an analogue among the drugs that are used for the same disease and have a similar effect on the patient's body.

Ambroxol preparations

Such drugs have the ability to influence the formation of bronchial secretions, therefore they are referred to as mucolytic agents. Under the influence of ambroxol, sputum polysaccharides change their structure, and glycoproteins are synthesized more actively, which leads to a more liquid state of secretion and facilitates coughing. In addition, preparations based on ambroxol stimulate the ciliated epithelium so that its cilia move more actively, which also helps to separate sputum.

These drugs include:

  • "Lazolvan";
  • Ambrobene;
  • "AmbroGEXAL";
  • Haliksol;
  • Ambroxol;
  • Ambrosan;
  • "Bronchorus";
  • Flavamed.

They are produced in several forms (solution, syrup, tablets, etc.), which allows you to choose the right medication for a child of any age.

Herbal preparations

Extracts of some plants have mucolytic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects, which makes it possible to use them for bronchitis, laryngitis and other diseases. In addition, they are considered by many parents to be safer for babies, therefore they are in great demand for coughing in children. Among the herbal-based preparations similar to Erespal, the doctor may prescribe the following remedies.

  • "Prospan". This product contains ivy leaf extract. In syrup, it is allowed from birth, and in drops - from two years old. Its analogue is "Gedelix", which is also represented by syrup and drops.
  • "Bronchipret"... The action of this syrup is due to the extract from thyme and ivy. It can be prescribed from three months. The drug is also available in drops, but due to the higher doses of extracts, it is allowed only from the age of 6.
  • "Doctor Theiss". This syrup contains plantain extract. It is used for coughing in children over a year old.
  • "Bronchicum"... This medicine works thanks to the thyme extract. It is prescribed in syrup from 6 months, in the form of an elixir - from 1 year, and in lozenges it is given to children over six years old.

Antitussives

In some cases, to alleviate the child's condition, it is necessary to eliminate the cough by influencing the cough center located in the brain. However, drugs with such a therapeutic effect can be given to children only as directed by a doctor. These include the following medications:

  • "Sinekod". The action of this drug is provided by butamirate. The medicine in drops is prescribed from the age of two months, and the syrup is used in children 3 years of age and older.
  • Omnitus. This syrup also contains butamirate and can be prescribed from the age of three. The medicine is also represented by tablets, approved from the age of 6.
  • Paxeladin. This syrup inhibits the cough center due to oxeladin. It is prescribed for babies weighing over 15 kg over the age of 2.5 years.
  • "Bronholitin". This medication includes ephedrine supplemented with glaucine. In childhood, it is prescribed from the age of 3, and the analogs of this syrup are the drugs Bronchoton and Bronchocin.

Other drugs

Instead of Erespal, other medications can also be used that have an effect on the respiratory tract, eg:

  • "Ascoril". This syrup contains bromhexine supplemented with a combination of guaifenesin and salbutamol. It is prescribed for children over 1 year old.
  • "ACC". This acetylcysteine drug is available in tablets, granules, syrup, and solution. In children, it is used from the age of two.
  • "Fluditek". The basis of this syrup is carbocisteine. The medication can be prescribed to children aged 2 years and older.
  • Rengalin. The action of such a solution or tablets is provided by special antibodies to histamine, bradykinin and morphine. The tool is used in children over 3 years old.
  • "Singular". These chewable tablets contain montelukast, a substance that acts on leukotriene receptors. At a dosage of 4 mg, they are prescribed for children over two years old.
