Fir oil for children

The pleasant and fragrant fir oil is widely used in alternative medicine. Adults treat them with colds, flu, runny nose, conduct aromatherapy sessions, and use them as a cosmetic. And about whether it is possible to use fir oil in the treatment of children, we will talk with you in this article.

Useful and medicinal properties

Fir is a legible coniferous tree. It does not grow anywhere, but chooses for growth only an area with a good environmental situation, therefore the oil, which, by the way, is extracted from young branches and cones, is of high quality and environmental friendliness.

The oil contains a lot of phytoncides and vitamins. This is a real storehouse of vitamin C, carotene, tannins and essential substances, the enumeration of which will take a lot of time. So let's go straight to the properties.

The rich composition provides disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effects, pronounced antimicrobial and analgesic effects.

Fir oil narrows the lumen of blood vessels, which makes it an excellent remedy for a cold, cough, heart and vascular problems. Phytoncides give the drug a wound-healing property, which has long been used in the treatment of thermal skin lesions.

The natural preparation finds its application in chronic fatigue, rapid fatigability, gently acts on the nervous system, calming and relieving stress, restores normal sleep and improves mood.

Application methods

Fir oil for children can be used if the child is already 1 year old. This fragrant medicine is contraindicated for newborns and babies of the first year of life. Its composition is too rich and complex, and the infant is practically unable to adequately perceive it, without manifestations of allergies.

The oil is used externally - for skin diseases, added to the bath when bathing - to increase immunity. In case of a cold, rubbing is done with this remedy. It is dripped into the nose with a runny nose and on the tonsils with angina and adenoids. With essential oil of fir, they make solutions for inhalation when coughing. It is used as a massage oil for joint pain, muscle pain syndrome.

Fir oil disinfects the room where the baby lives. To do this, after airing and wet cleaning, a little of the drug is dripped onto toys or a piece of wood and left in the child's room overnight.

Instructions for use

Runny nose

With a nasal congestion in a child, you can bury fir oil in each nasal passage for 1-2 drops 3 times a day... If you use essential oil, be sure to dilute it with vegetable (or any base) oil.

It will have a vasoconstrictor effect and nasal breathing will be restored by reducing mucosal edema. This natural remedy compares favorably with vasoconstrictor nasal drops ("Nazivin", "Nazol", etc.) in that it does not cause drug addiction, and it can be used not 3-5 days, like pharmaceutical medicines, but longer.

For small patients from 1 year old, it is better to lubricate the nasal passages with fir oil. To do this, you need to take a cotton swab or twist small turundas out of cotton wool, moisten in oil (or a mixture of fir and vegetable oils in a ratio of 1: 3) and carefully process the spout from the inside.

Important: before use, the nose must be cleaned of dried mucus by rinsing it with saline (a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water), sea water or furacilin solution. In case of purulent nasal discharge, instillation is contraindicated.

Throat diseases, adenoids

To obtain the effect, fir oil is instilled directly onto the tonsils. The dosage is no more than 2 drops at a time. If you use an essential oil, dilute it with vegetable oil in a 1: 3 ratio. The procedure can be performed up to 4 times a day, depending on the severity of the inflammation.

Important: the product can cause allergies, therefore, it is better for babies under three years old to conduct a preliminary test for an inadequate reaction by applying a little oil to the earlobe and the back of the hand. If redness and itching do not appear, the drug can be used.

Cough

Inhalation with fir oil will help to cope with a cough. To do this, add to the solution based on sage or coltsfoot 2-3 drops of the drug... Dry inhalations can also be done, however, they are effective only with a slight cough. For this, a few drops are applied to a piece of linen or cotton cloth and given to the child. The baby should breathe through his mouth and nose alternately through this cloth patch.

With fir oil, you can make a healthy drink that has an expectorant effect. For a glass of the baby's favorite juice (not citrus!), You need to take about 4-6 ml of the drug, mix and give the child to drink three times a day half an hour before meals.

Important: if the cough is accompanied by a fever, hot inhalation should not be done.

Skin problems

Rash, diathesis, pimples can be easily defeated with the help of this miracle remedy. To do this, you need to gently lubricate the affected areas with a cotton swab dipped in oil. You can prepare a special ointment - a fir product in combination with baby cream gives an excellent effect on diaper rash and herpes. Also, a few drops, mixed with base oil (for example, sunflower, olive or even coconut) are added to the baby's bath.

Important: if the rash is of an allergic nature, you cannot use fir oil, this will only increase the manifestations of allergies. If the herpes is extensive, you should not smear it with any oil, since this condition requires prompt treatment with antiherpetic drugs under the supervision of a doctor.

Nervous disorders

For restless babies who are very mobile and excitable, you can apply a few drops to bedding. Inhaling the scent of fir will have a calming effect, and sleep will return to normal after just a few uses.

In addition, such children can do therapeutic baths with fir, before going to bed, massage the heels with a couple of drops of the product.

Contraindications

There are children for whom fir oil cannot be used. This category includes children with systematic recurrent seizures of various etiologies, babies with epilepsy, children with severe lesions of the central nervous system and children with allergies.
