"Creon" during pregnancy: instructions for use

"Creon" belongs to the group of enzyme preparations, therefore it is in demand for various problems with food digestion. Such a medicine is designed to compensate for the lack of enzyme substances normally produced in the pancreas. The need for this medication may also arise during pregnancy, but the doctor should prescribe "Creon" to the expectant mother.

Features of the drug

"Creon" is produced in the form of capsules with an enteric coating. They are sold in plastic jars of 20-100 and work thanks to an ingredient called pancreatin. Depending on the number of active lipase units (they are designated IU - international units) "Creon" comes in three different dosages - 10,000, 25,000 and 40,000.

In addition to this enzyme, amylases and proteases are also present in the contents of the capsules, but in a much lower dose. Since the dosage of the drug is calculated on the basis of lipase, the content of this enzyme compound is included in the name of the capsules, therefore, pharmacies sell not just "Creon", but Creon 10000, Creon 25000 and Creon 40,000.

Depending on the dosage, the capsules differ in the size and color of the body, but the contents are the same. It is represented by tiny light brown microspheres. It is inside them that active enzymes are located, thanks to which "Creon" has its healing effect.

The medication is sold without a prescription.

Store the sealed medicine at home at room temperature for no more than two years from the date of manufacture, but after opening the bottle - no longer than three months.

Principle of operation and indications

When the capsule enters the stomach, its gelatin body dissolves, and the microspheres are mixed with food, after which they pass into the small intestine. There, their shell dissolves with the release of enzymes, which are included in the process of digesting food components.

Under the influence of Creon, protein molecules become amino acids, fats - glycerol and fatty acids, and carbohydrates - simple sugars. The nutrients formed in the process of digestion are absorbed faster and fully into the intestinal wall, which supports normal metabolic reactions, normalizes the digestive tract and helps to strengthen the body as a whole.

Since the basis of "Creon" are enzymes produced by the pancreas, and the drug partially replenishes its secretory function, capsules are often prescribed with a chronic inflammatory process in this organ. The medicine is in demand and with various lesions of the digestive system, for example, with chronic diseases of the stomach, pathologies of the gallbladder, diseases of the liver or intestines. It is also prescribed for patients who are to undergo an ultrasound examination, the purpose of which is to determine the condition of the abdominal organs.

In addition, Creon is prescribed with various errors in power supply, for example, if too much food was eaten, it was very fatty, or the diet is irregular. The drug is also prescribed for cystic fibrosis, dysbiosis, intestinal infections, lactase deficiency, dermatitis and many other problems. Additionally, capsules can be used in the postoperative period or in patients who have had an infection, in order to improve the absorption of food and quickly restore strength.

Is it allowed during pregnancy?

Using "Creon" not contraindicated while waiting for the baby. If there is evidence, such a remedy can be prescribed to women in position, since it is safe and has proven itself well for various digestive problems. However, taking such a drug without first consulting a specialist is not recommended.

In the early stages of pregnancy, the most important processes occur in the embryo, therefore, the use of many drugs in the 1st trimester is limited. But "Creon" is not classified as such and can be prescribed to expectant mothers, since this enzyme helps to get rid of toxicosis and normalizes digestion, and experimental studies have confirmed that taking capsules does not lead to any developmental defects.

The safest for the appointment of any drugs is considered the 2nd trimester. It is allowed to use "Creon" during this period if there is evidence, for example, if a woman has unpleasant symptoms from the digestive tract due to changes in eating habits. Enzymes will help to cope with increased stress, and eliminate bloating and heaviness.

In later terms, "Creon" is also allowed, since it does not in any way affect labor. In the 3rd trimester, this medicine is used to eliminate constipation and facilitate the digestive system.because the enlarged uterus compresses the intestines and can disrupt normal digestion. However, you should not drink the remedy without a doctor's prescription.

Contraindications

Reception of "Creon" is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to pancreatin or any auxiliary component of capsules. Such a medicine cannot be used in an acute inflammatory process in the pancreas, therefore, if pancreatitis has already been diagnosed, or there is a suspicion of this pathology, self-medication is unacceptable.

Since capsules do not include milk sugar, they are not contraindicated in lactose intolerant patients.

Side effects

Some women react to taking "Creon" with bloating, nausea, constipation or other digestive disorders, due to which the use of the drug is immediately canceled. In addition, in some cases, an allergy may occur to capsules, which should also be the reason for an immediate refusal to take further.

How to use?

Most often, expectant mothers are prescribed "Creon 10000", since taking such capsules provides the desired therapeutic effect, but due to the minimum dosage, the drug will be safe for the pregnant woman and the fetus. According to the instructions for use, the product should be drunk with meals, washed down with water. If it is difficult to swallow, it is permissible to open the gelatinous body and take only microspheres, but without damaging their shell, so that the enzymes are not inactivated before entering the lumen of the small intestine.

The duration of the use of "Creon" must be checked with the doctor, as it depends on the reason for the appointment. For example, if a woman develops uncomfortable symptoms due to inaccuracies in her diet, the specialist will prescribe enzymes to drink for only a few days. If the reason for using the capsules is some serious illness, the course of taking the medication will last for several months, and sometimes longer.

Taking "Creon", a woman must take into account the incompatibility of such a drug with other drugs.

You should not use capsules with antacids at the same time, as this will affect the activity of enzymes (reduce it). In addition, if the expectant mother takes vitamin complexes or iron supplements, they must be drunk separately (with an interval of at least two hours), since iron absorption may decrease under the influence of pancreatin.

Reviews

There are mostly positive reviews about using Creon while waiting for a baby. Expectant mothers call this medicine effective and safe, and its tolerance, according to women, is good in most cases. Patients note that taking "Creon" quickly helped to get rid of belching, bloating, loss of appetite, stool disorders, heaviness in the stomach and other uncomfortable symptoms. The disadvantages of the drug are usually attributed only to its high cost, because of which they often prefer similar drugs that have a lower price.

Analogs

Other drugs, which are also based on pancreatin, are capable of replacing "Creon". These include Pancreatin Forte, Mezim Forte, Pangrol 10000, Micrasim, Penzital, Ermital and other drugs. They are presented in tablets, dragees and capsules with different dosages of enzymes. It is permissible to use such funds in pregnant women according to indications, but only after consulting a doctor who will make sure that there are no contraindications and will individually calculate the required dosage.
