Children's carpets in the boys' room

A couple of decades ago, carpets were an incredibly important part of the interior, they were found almost everywhere and were placed everywhere - both on the floor and on the walls. Today, this decision is often perceived as a sign of bad taste. Almost the only place where floor carpet still has a place to be is in the children's room. Children's carpets in the boys' room are very appropriate, but only on one condition - that they were chosen, focusing on important rules. You should take into account certain recommendations, and then the result will not disappoint you.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of floor carpets in a children's room is that they are ideal for this particular room, regardless of whether it is a small child or a teenager. If we talk about the obvious advantages for a preschooler who spends most of the home games directly on the floor, then they are as follows:

  • The carpet reliably protects from the cold, it is less likely to catch a cold.
  • Thanks to its softness, the carpet is comfortable for many hours of sitting and lying in any position.
  • Parents also benefit, because the carpet drowns out the noise of children's games.
  • Modern toddler carpets feature eye-catching designs with painted roads, houses, and more. Compared to the past, there are many options today.

For a teenager's room, a floor carpet is also useful, since today such products are produced in the form as close as possible to individual hobbies.

As for any shortcomings, they could not be found. The only possible problem may lie perhaps in the wrong choice of accessory.

Materials

It is necessary to choose the material of the product not only for the appearance or cost, but also for a number of qualities that are absolutely necessary in the case of a child's use. We are also talking about hypoallergenicity - it is unacceptable that the material at least theoretically provokes allergies. Even if your child is out of the risk zone, it is possible that an attempt to invite a friend to visit will end in a very unpleasant situation.

In addition, the material should be easy to clean regularly, since the carpet (like any other textile accessory) collects a lot of harmful dust. Finally, the rug should not slide on the floor, otherwise the baby, accelerating and running on it, may ride along with it and hit painfully. To avoid such situations, choose either heavy options or those with an anti-slip backing.

If we talk about specific materials, then there are three main varieties:

  • Wool. The warmest, strongest, most durable and environmentally friendly solution with amazing sound absorption properties. However, there are also disadvantages - consumers especially do not like the high price of natural raw materials. In addition, with the ideal hypoallergenicity of the material, wool collects a maximum of dust, which can cause allergies.

Cleaning the carpet is complicated by its heavy weight. Wet cleaning is often impossible. Usually this option is used for radical warming of floors or buy small rugs.

  • Artificial wool - acrylic, polyacrylic, polyamide. If you have a poor idea of what it is, remember the carpet - it is made from the same materials. The advantages of choosing artificial rugs are low cost, antistatic impregnation, dust-repellent, dirt-repellent properties and the ability to use any care products.

These materials do not promote the appearance of bacteria and insects, and even weigh a little. True, they do not contribute to warming at all, and in terms of softness they are much inferior to natural wool.

  • Modern materials - expanded propylene, ethylene vinyl acetate. This rug sometimes looks like a rubber mat, but it is not made of rubber. This product has many more advantages. It combines the advantages of both natural and artificial wool.

In addition, designers use this material to create prefabricated rugs from small pieces like a puzzle. This is very convenient, since it even allows you to take such an accessory with you to visit or to nature.

Shapes and models

Talking about the choice of shape and size, many are limited only to the choice of size. Here you should clearly understand the difference: a large carpet, which occupies a significant part of the nursery area, forms its entire design. And another question: whether it should adapt to the interior, or the rest of the interior - to it.

Small rugs play the role of accessories, they can help in dividing a room into functional areas. However, if there are many of them, you will have to try a lot so that they (being different in their essence and goals) all together create a certain unified image.

The classic shape of the carpet is considered to be square or rectangular, such options are used in the nursery. However, they do not contribute to the visual expansion of too tight spaces. An oval or round rug, as well as other (even more complex) geometric shapes, will help to achieve the desired effect.

Colour

There are so many colors of carpets for children that choosing any one seems to be a rather difficult task. If we are talking about some kind of large carpet, then it simply must be combined with the general interior of the room. This does not always mean that it should be the same color as the walls - on the contrary, it can create contrast, but such a combination should, in any case, leave a pleasant impression.

As for small rugs for individual functional areas, it all depends on the specific area. In the game you can give free rein to imagination, use the brightest solutions in unexpected combinations - there are practically no restrictions.

For the recreation area, it is better to choose something more calm, gentle pastel shades, without bright colors - a calming nature. The work area should be comfortable, but not distract from the main thing, so here you should choose a monochromatic design in a pleasant shade - for example, a blue rug.

The choice of color palette also depends on the boy's age. If this is just a baby, then too bright colors are contraindicated for him, otherwise it will be difficult for him to fall asleep, but regular sound sleep at this age is very important.

The preschooler will really like the brightest of all possible solutions, they stimulate his imagination and creative inclinations. The same statement is also true for younger students, but teenagers are already less prone to too bright colors - unless this is required by the hobby that is reflected in the design of the product.

How to choose?

The choice of the perfect carpet depends on the age of the child, because often the design of the product directly resonates with his interests - unless you prefer a very simple one-color option.

For small children

For young children, the carpet is a kind of playground, so it would be quite nice if it matches the play needs as much as possible. Among boys (whose favorite toy, as you know, a typewriter), carpets with painted roads are very popular. With what you usually have to imagine, you can imagine a lot more!

Naturally, any images of your favorite characters from the animated series are also very appropriate. Various rugs that can be assembled and disassembled will also appeal to children. They perform the same important developmental functions as the classic construction set.

For teenagers

For teenagers, a carpet is an exclusively decorative element, so it should either be a neutral decoration or indicate the boy's hobbies and hobbies. For example, a green rectangular foot mat in the shape of a football field is a good gift even for an adult man.

Carpets in a nautical style are also relevant - the traditional white and blue color scheme for boys, decorated with images of both marine flora and fauna, and ships, steering wheels or just seascapes.

Examples in the interior of the nursery

It is worth giving a few examples of how the right rug can be the perfect complement to your interior design.

The first photo shows a relatively strict solution that is perfect for a teenager's room. It is not very flashy, but at the same time it is not monochromatic, with a short nap, convenient for walking and cleaning.

The next example is a chic nautical carpet pattern. There are toys in the photo, but this is more of a decorative move, because such a coating is not interesting until the age of ten.

The following is an example of an artificial carpet covering the entire room. It won't be too boring and formal due to the fact that it is monochromatic. Not at all - pay attention to how cozy and cute such a room of a younger student looks.

The fourth photo shows how a modern carpet design can further emphasize the rebellious nature of a teenager who is already beginning to really associate himself with adults.

Finally, the last example is simply a successful combination of the color of the carpet with the overall palette of the interior.
