12 tips for raising a smart child

How to raise an intelligent child is a question that interests every modern parent. If you want your little one to succeed in life and become an intelligent person, you need to make every effort. And you have to start from the very birth. Hugging, playing with your child, talking and reading books to him, you lay the foundations for his intellectual development. Here are 12 steps to raising a smart child.

1. Love your child. When you show tender feelings, hug, kiss your child, you not only convey a sense of security and peace, but also help develop his brain. Studies by American scientists have shown that a mother's love physically affects certain areas of the brain that are responsible for emotions, memory, stress resistance and learning.

2. Talk to your child... This develops the baby's speech skills. Also listen to your child when he speaks. Thus, you encourage the desire to communicate and improve his speech. Ask him open-ended questions more often, for example, "What did you do in kindergarten today?" These questions help the child make sense of what they know and make it clear that their opinions matter. Use words unknown to your baby in speech. He will surely guess what they mean if they are used several times in a familiar context.

3. Read books to your child. Start reading even if he doesn't understand the words yet. This will not only give him a head start in developing language skills, but also instill an interest in reading. By starting to read at preschool age, your child will be well prepared to be well versed in literature, history and mathematics in the future. Invite your little one to sit comfortably on the couch and read with you. Store books on shelves and a coffee table.Mom in the piggy bank: 260 BOOKS YOU NEED TO READ FOR CHILDREN!

4. Let your child play. Seemingly frivolous play with toys creates the basis for his intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills. And when your little one plays group games, he learns to exchange ideas, impressions, feelings and experiences with other children.

5. Encourage exercise. Physical education not only makes your child strong and athletic, but also develops intelligence. Exercise increases blood flow to the brain. The blood, in turn, delivers the oxygen and glucose that the brain needs to increase focus and mental focus. And jumping rope strengthens the vestibular apparatus, which improves spatial thinking.

6. Make music a part of your child's life. Research shows that listening to music not only improves a baby's memory and focus, but also reduces stress, which can detrimentally affect a child's development. And learning to play a musical instrument helps to form abstract-logical thinking.

7. Be a positive example. Children learn by looking at adults. If your child sees you reading, painting, playing music, or any other creative activity, he will imitate you.

8. Limit your TV viewing. Your child should not watch television programs until two years of age. If the baby spends too much time in front of the blue screen, then he is eliminated from performing more important actions for intellectual development: playing, communicating with peers and reading books.

9. Feed your baby correctly. Spiritual food alone is not enough to raise a child smart. A diet rich in protein (eggs, fish, meat and nuts) improves your baby's attention, reaction speed, and thought processes. The carbohydrates found in grains and fruits provide fuel to his brain. Vitamins and minerals are very important for full development. But processed carbohydrates (found in sweets, baked goods, hamburgers, packaged juices) do not have the best effect on concentration, focus and activity level.

10. Provide your child with adequate sleep. A baby needs healthy sleep as much as water and food. Parents of those preschoolers who sleep less than normal risk facing tantrums and nervous breakdowns. Also, in children, attention, memory and even vision may deteriorate. In a dream, the child not only rests physically, but also gains strength for active mental work. Therefore, from early childhood, you need to accustom your baby to the correct sleep and wakefulness regime.

11. Help your child develop tenacity and endurance. Strength of character is a tendency to pursue long-term goals, hard work and endurance. Sometimes persistence is more important than innate talent or intelligence. Share how you achieved your goal despite setbacks and disappointments.

12. Choose “smart” computer games. Unfortunately or fortunately, information technology and gadgets are increasingly entering our lives. Choose computer games for your child that can teach him letters, mathematics, music and much more. They also develop hand-eye coordination and prepare for tomorrow's technology. More importantly, your toddler learns this while playing. But do not forget that no modern gadget can replace a child's communication with you and peers.
