Things for baby

We extend the life of baby clothes with iron-on stickers

The second life of children's things: we put iron-on stickers. How to hide a hole in children's clothes with thermal stickers? What stickers are there and how to glue them correctly. Detailed instructions for those who do it for the first time.

Children's clothing, especially outerwear, very quickly loses its original appearance. What kind of accuracy can we talk about when a child runs, jumps and crawls all day? Activity is, of course, good, but clothes are a pity. Especially when it is torn in a conspicuous place. Alas, it will not work to sew up the hole imperceptibly. But the situation can be saved by thermal stickers - the easiest and fastest way to make clothes look good.

It's good if mom has a supply of thermal stickers in stock, because it's simply impossible to predict when the child will tear his favorite jeans or shirt.

The range of modern iron-on stickers (or iron-on applications) is huge. Cars, airplanes, helicopters, flowers, bears, heroes of your favorite cartoons - every child can choose a sticker that he likes.

And there are also personalized thermal stickers - tags for children's things. They are especially popular with parents whose children go to kindergarten - with such marks, clothes will definitely not be lost. Personalized thermal stickers can be simple (a circle or rectangle with the child's first and last name, as well as the number of the kindergarten group) and with decor.

Thermal stickers can be paper or textile. But the principle of operation is the same: on the back of each applique there is an adhesive layer, which allows you to attach it to clothes using an iron. By the way, that's why the thermal stickers got their name: translated from Greek “thermo” means “heat”.

Decals are often sold without instructions, and not everyone knows how to attach them to clothes. We have prepared a small instruction - especially for those who do not know how to properly glue the thermal sticker without damaging the fabric.

Step 1

Prepare your ironing board or cover the table with a flat, thick cloth. Turn on the iron to the maximum, after turning off the steam mode on it, and wait a few minutes for it to heat up. During this time, you can “try on” the thermal sticker to its future “place of residence”.

Step 2

Iron the place where you want to stick the sticker. This is necessary in order to ensure a more reliable adhesion. Place the glue side down on the iron-on garment. In order not to ruin your clothes, cover the applique with a sheet of baking paper or tracing paper.

Step 3

Press the iron on the iron on and hold it for 30-40 seconds. Then raise and lower again for 10 seconds. Now you can turn the thing on the wrong side and iron it well at the place of attachment of the sticker.

Step 4

Wait for the iron-on transfer to cool (about 10-15 seconds) and then carefully peel off the backing paper. Done!

On a note

  1. Some fabrics (for example, raincoat fabric and synthetics) do not tolerate high temperatures. Before gluing the thermal sticker, find an inconspicuous spot on the clothes and check how the fabric will behave when exposed to a hot iron.
  2. If the size of the picture is larger than the sole of the iron, then glue the thermal applique in parts: first one part, then the other. And don't forget the small details.
  3. Do not throw away the backing paper after you finish your work - it can be used for the following labels.
