In the treatment of rhinitis and throat diseases in children, many parents prefer to use natural remedies, which include the Aqualor line of drugs. These drops and sprays are produced in France and Sweden from water that is mined in the Atlantic Ocean. Funds called "Aqualor" have a different composition, and therefore are used for different purposes. They are prescribed for both adult patients and young children.

"Aqualor baby"
Unlike all other products in the Aqualor line, nose drops are one of the forms of the baby. They are sold in the form of plastic bottles containing 15 milliliters of a brackish clear liquid, odorless and colorless. Such a liquid is only seawater with a salt concentration of 8 to 11 grams per liter (isotonic solution). There are no other ingredients inside the bottle.
The second form of "Aqualor baby" is a spray, which has a special nozzle that directs the stream directly into the nasal passages of babies. Its feature is also the presence of a restrictive ring, thanks to which the nozzle does not penetrate too deeply into the spout. Inside the balloon is 125 or 150 ml of isotonic seawater, as in the composition of the drops.
Another distinctive characteristic of such "Aqualor" is the method of spraying - it is called "soft shower". In addition, the solution can be sprayed in any position of the baby (he may lie). All these nuances allow you to use the spray in babies from birth. Drops "Aqualor baby" can also be used in newborns.
Another product called "Aqualor baby" is a nasal aspirator, which is used to remove excess secretions from the nasal cavity of children 0-3 years old. Such a device works thanks to the air flow that is created by the adult's mouth. One set includes an assembled aspirator, a plastic case and replacement filters, and an additional filter bag and nosepiece.
"Aqualor soft"
The action of such a remedy is also provided by sea water in the form of an isotonic solution. However, unlike the "baby" preparation, the method of spraying this "Aqualor" is "shower". Thanks to a special nozzle, the solution from the spray can irrigate the mucous membrane under a low pressure.
The drug is presented as a spray in several packaging options - 50, 125 and 150 ml. A smaller product called "mini" is convenient to take with you on a trip or a walk. It is also chosen as a probe to assess the effect of the drug and its tolerance.
As for age restrictions, it is recommended to use "Aqualor soft" from 6 months.
"Aqualor norms"
This is another product in the Aqualor line based on sea water with an isotonic salt concentration. Its main difference from “baby” and “soft” products is the method of spraying, which is called “jet”. The solution from the spray nozzle is applied under a higher pressure to rinse the nasal cavity and remove very thick discharge from it.
Since such "Aqualor" is used only for washes, this tool does not have a "mini" version. It is produced only in large cylinders containing 125 ml of sterile seawater, to which no other substances have been added. It is allowed to use "Aqualor Norm" in children from the age of six months.
"Aqualor Forte"
This spray, like the “soft” preparation, is distinguished by the “shower” spray and is available in two versions - “mini” (50 ml) and in a standard package (125/150 ml). It also contains sea water, however, unlike the previous types of "Aqualor", the content of sodium chloride in it is 19-23 grams per liter, that is, the solution is hypertonic. There are no preservatives or auxiliary ingredients in the forte product. In childhood, it is prescribed to patients over 1 year old.
"Aqualor extra forte"
This preparation is similar to the Aqualor Norm remedy, since it also does not have a “mini” version (the can contains 125 ml of seawater), and the nasal cavity is irrigated from the nozzle under significant pressure (“jet”). However, instead of an isotonic solution in the "extra" preparation, it is hypertonic. In addition, the composition of the medicine includes two plant extracts - from aloe and chamomile. Children are prescribed it from 2 years of age.
"Aqualor throat"
A special feature of this spray, produced in small and large packages (50 and 125 ml), is a special nozzle that directs the solution to the desired area of the mouth or throat. The method of irrigation of the inflamed mucous membrane is "shower", and inside the can there is hypertonic sea water. Chamomile and aloe extracts are added to it, as in the “extra forte” preparation. The drug is approved from 6 months of age.
Act
The water extracted from the Atlantic Ocean, which is the basis of all Aqualor preparations, contains many trace elements and valuable substances. It is rich in selenium, chlorine, sodium, iodine, magnesium and other elements. Depending on the amount of sodium chloride, it has a different effect on the mucous membranes. Products containing isotonic solution help:
- moisturize the nasopharynx and maintain its normal physiological state;
- remove various impurities from the surface of the mucous membrane, as well as excess mucus, viral particles, pathogenic bacteria and allergens;
- to increase the resistance of ENT organs to adverse effects (to strengthen local immunity);
- accelerate regeneration in case of damage to the mucous membrane;
- restore nasal breathing by reducing swelling.
As for hypertonic solutions, such variants of "Aqualor", due to the higher salt content, are able to draw excess fluid from the cells. This helps to get rid of inflammatory edema, because inflammation produces more water in the cells than in the normal state.
Due to the osmotic action of "Aqualor Forte" and "Aqualor Extra":
- reduce swelling of the nasopharynx;
- eliminate nasal congestion;
- wash off excess mucus, allergens and other pathogens from the surface of the mucous membrane;
- restore breathing through the nose;
- enhance local immune defenses.
Aqualor throat has the same therapeutic effects, acting on the tonsils, soft palate and other parts of the oropharynx. Thanks to the addition of extracts from Roman chamomile, extra forte and throat preparations have an additional antiseptic effect. The presence of aloe vera extract in such products further enhances the anti-inflammatory and local immunomodulatory effect.
When is it used?
"Baby" and "soft" preparations are in demand for daily hygiene of the nasal cavity. Such funds are used to eliminate crusts and impurities, as well as to prevent acute respiratory infections in winter and spring. The drug "norms" is usually prescribed with a large amount of thick discharge, but it can also be used for prophylactic purposes.
All types of "Aqualor" except for throat spray are also prescribed:
- with allergic rhinitis;
- with a runny nose, which is caused by pathogenic microbes;
- with subatrophic rhinitis, when the mucous membrane is too dry;
- with ARVI or flu;
- with sinusitis;
- with inflammation of the adenoids;
- after surgical treatment in the area of the nasopharynx.
The drug "Aqualor throat" is used for inflammation and sore throat. The reason for prescribing such a medication is:
- chronic tonsillitis;
- pharyngitis in acute form or with a chronic course;
- angina;
- laryngitis;
- gingivitis;
- periodontitis;
- epiglottitis;
- stomatitis.
This drug is also prescribed for the prevention of throat infections, as well as after operations in the throat area and dental surgery.
Are there any contraindications?
The use of any of the products under the Aqualor brand is prohibited only in case of hypersensitivity to their components. Although an individual negative reaction is very rare, such a situation is possible, therefore, after the first use of Aqualor baby or other means, it is recommended to observe the condition of the little patient. There are no other contraindications, according to the instructions, to the Aqualor line drugs.
Potential harm
Usually any type of "Aqualor" is well tolerated by children without any negative reactions. The emergence of side symptoms occurs only with individual hypersensitivity. Due to its safe composition, Aqualor does not harm either if the dose is exceeded or if accidentally swallowed.
Instructions for use
It is recommended to wipe the tip of the spray nozzle (and the tip of the dropper bottle for Aqualor Baby drops) before use. The frequency of irrigation of the nasopharynx and the dosage for different types of "Aqualor" is usually as follows:
- drops of "baby" are injected 1-2 into each nasal passage twice or four times a day or more often;
- spray "baby" or "soft" irrigate the nasal cavity 1-4 times a day;
- spray "norms" is used for washing with a cold two to four times a day, and for its prevention - 1-2 times during the day;
- "Aqualor Forte" irrigate the nasal cavity 2-3 or more times a day;
- washing with "Aqualor extra forte" is carried out 2-4 times a day or more often;
- treatment of the oral cavity or tonsils with the "Aqualor throat" preparation is performed 4-6 times a day, three to four injections of the medicine directly on the areas of inflammation.
As for the duration of use, it is worth discussing with the doctor, but the manufacturer notes that any "Aqualor" can be used as long as it takes to improve the patient's condition. There are no restrictions on the period of use of such funds.
Compatibility with other medicines
Aqualor does not interfere with any other drugs that are used intranasally. On the contrary, any of the means of this line is recommended to be used before the treatment of the nasopharynx with vasoconstrictor, antimicrobial and other drugs in the nose. This will not only enhance their effectiveness, but also help reduce the likelihood of side effects.

No special conditions are required to store any of the funds. The recommended storage temperature is from 5 to 25 degrees Celsius, and the place where you need to keep the bottle should be dry, hidden from babies and sunlight.
What to replace?
Instead of "Aqualor" can be used other means in the form of a spray, aerosol or drops containing sea water. These include "Marimer", "Physiomer", "Fluimarin", "Aquamaris", "Humer", "Sialor Aqua" and other drugs.
