Troxevasin for children: instructions for use

"Troxevasin" is a drug from the group of angioprotectors, because it strengthens blood vessels. Is it prescribed in childhood and in what cases is it used in children?

Release form and composition

The drug is manufactured in two forms:

  • gelthat can be used to treat leather. It is sold in plastic or aluminum tubes that hold 40 grams of medication. Inside the tubes there is a yellow or brownish gelatinous mass.
  • capsulestaken orally. They are packaged in blisters of 10 and sold in packs of 50 or 100 capsules. They have a dense yellow gelatinous shell, inside which a yellow or greenish-yellow powder is placed.

Both versions of the drug include troxerutin as the main ingredient. One gram of gel contains this substance in an amount of 20 mg, and one capsule in a dose of 300 mg. The gel also contains trolamine, purified water, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride and carbomer. Inside the capsules, troxerutin is combined with magnesium stearate and lactose, and gelatin, titanium dioxide and yellow dyes are used to create the shell of such a drug.

In addition to Troxevasin, you can also find Troxevasin Neo in pharmacies. This medicine is a gel, in which, in addition to troxerutin, there are two more active ingredients - sodium heparin and dexpanthenol.

In contraindications to such a remedy, children under 18 years of age are noted, but sometimes doctors can prescribe such a gel to children as an analogue of the usual Troxevasin.

Operating principle

Troxerutin contained in the medication is one of the flavonoids. Because it is a rutin derivative (also called vitamin P), it has a similar effect on the body. The drug has the following effect:

  • reduction of puffiness;
  • increased tone of veins and capillaries;
  • increasing the density of the walls of blood vessels;
  • anti-inflammatory effect;
  • reduction of fragility of small vessels;
  • antioxidant effect.

Indications

The drug in capsules is in demand for various diseases of the veins, hemorrhoids, trophic ulcers and retinopathy. Gel "Troxevasin" is used for local treatment of varicose veins, venous insufficiency or thrombophlebitis. In childhood, this medication is often used to eliminate swelling, bruising and pain caused by bruising, sprains or other trauma.

In addition, such a remedy can be used to treat the injection site after vaccination if a local reaction appears in the form of a seal or bruise.

At what age is it prescribed?

There are no age restrictions in the annotation for Troxevasin gel. However, for the smallest children, skin treatment with this tool is recommended only as directed by a doctor. Capsules are not prescribed for children under 3 years old, and in patients aged 3-15 years, they should be used only under medical supervision.

Contraindications

All forms of the drug are prohibited in case of intolerance to troxerutin or any of the excipients. Gel treatment is contraindicated in violation of the integrity of the skin. In addition, such a product should not come into contact with the eyes or other mucous membranes. Capsules are not prescribed for exacerbation of chronic gastritis or peptic ulcer disease.

Side effects

In some patients, after applying the gel to the skin, an allergic reaction occurs in the form of dermatitis, hives or eczema. In such a situation, further use of Troxevasin should be abandoned.

The use of capsules can also cause allergies, and in some children this form provokes diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, a feeling of "flushing" of blood to the face, headache and other negative symptoms. After the drug is discontinued, these ailments quickly disappear.

Instructions for use

"Troxevasin" in the form of a gel is applied to the desired area of the skin twice a day. After applying the medicine, rub it in until it is completely absorbed. The duration of use should be determined by the doctor, since it differs in different cases.

If the drug is prescribed in capsules, then it should be swallowed during meals with water. Do not bite or open the capsule. The dosage of the drug is prescribed individually and adjusted during treatment. On average, such a medication is taken in a course of 3-4 weeks.

Overdose and drug interactions

When excess gel is applied to the skin, there is no risk of overdose. If the child accidentally swallows the gel, it is recommended to induce vomiting and show the baby to the doctor. Exceeding the dose when using capsules can provoke headache, nausea, nervous agitation and other symptoms. If they occur, you need to do a gastric lavage, and then a doctor's examination is required.

There is no data on the incompatibility of "Troxevasin" in the form of a gel with other drugs. The drug in capsules works more effectively if you additionally take ascorbic acid.

Terms of sale and storage

Troxevasin is a non-prescription drug and costs about 200 rubles for a tube of gel and 400 rubles for 50 capsules. The optimum temperature for storing both capsules and gel is in the range of 10-25 degrees Celsius.

The place where the medicine package is placed should be inaccessible to the child. The shelf life of the gel in a plastic tube is 2 years, in an aluminum tube - 5 years. Capsules are valid for 5 years from the date of manufacture.

Reviews

There are many good reviews about the use of Troxevasin. They call the drug effective and convenient to use. According to mothers, the gel is perfectly absorbed, it does not have an unpleasant odor, and its cost is acceptable. The medicine in capsules is also considered effective and safe, but its price is called high.

Analogs

Instead of "Troxevasin" for the same indications, you can use drugs that contain the same active ingredient, for example, "Troxerutin Vramed" or "Troxerutin Zentiva". Analogues of the drug in capsules with a similar effect on blood vessels are "Actovegin", "Venoplant", "Venorus", "Venoruton" and other drugs. Their use in children should be monitored by a specialist.

You can replace Troxevasin gel in case of bruises, bruises, abrasions and other skin injuries with Bruise-Off, Rescuer, Traumeel S, Lioton 1000, Heparin Ointment, Dolobene and so on. However, all these drugs differ in their composition and are used in children of different ages, therefore, it is worth choosing an analogue of "Troxevasin" together with a doctor.
