Doctor Komarovsky about pregnancy and its planning

In recent years, there has been an increase in the birth rate in Russia. The second, third child in the family is no longer surprising. Parents decide on both the fourth and the fifth baby.

However, planning pregnancy as a crucial stage is omitted by many as not worthy of attention. Get pregnant - we give birth, even if it was a surprise. But after all competent planning allows you to give birth to a healthier baby and avoid problems during gestation and childbirth.

The well-known doctor Yevgeny Komarovsky devotes not the last place in his books and TV programs to questions of pregnancy planning. He tells future mothers and fathers about how to properly prepare for the birth of a baby.

About planning

The culture of planning pregnancy for Russians has yet to be taught, Dr. Komarovsky is sure. And this process can last several decades. After all, only three out of ten babies today are born after the careful preparation of mom and dad for such an important event in the life of the family. Healthier, stronger children will be born when planning becomes the general rule.

The healthier mom and dad are at the time of conception, the more chances the baby has to be born healthy, Komarovsky says. In principle, all adults know this simple truth, or in the worst case, guess about it, but for some reason they do not consider it necessary to undergo a preliminary examination by various specialists. And the pregnant woman begins to run to the doctors only after the test shows two cherished strips, and the district gynecologist in the antenatal clinic confirms the fact of pregnancy and writes out a bunch of referrals for tests and doctors' consultations.

The release of a program on the topic of pregnancy planning from Dr. Komarovsky, you can see how to correctly approach this issue below.

Evgeny Olegovich strongly recommends running around doctors not after conception, but in front of him. A woman should visit a gynecologist 3-4 months before the expected conception, and a man - a urologist. For the expectant mother, a healthy oral cavity and respiratory system is very important, therefore, according to Komarovsky, a trip to the dentist and ENT is mandatory. It is advisable to visit a cardiologist and do an ECG, because while carrying a child, the load on the heart increases, and the woman may not know that she has beginning heart problems.

It will be useful for both spouses to look at the allergist and geneticist. The first specialist will determine if the couple is allergic to something, because children are more likely to inherit allergic reactions from their parents. The geneticist will weigh the risks of having a child with genetic abnormalities (Down syndrome, Edwads syndrome, etc.).

Among the tests that must be passed at the planning stage are general blood and urine tests, a biochemical blood test, a vaginal smear for flora, a blood test to determine antibodies to a number of viruses, such as cytomegalovirus, rubella, toxoplasmosis and herpes. It is imperative to donate blood for HIV and RV (syphilis), hepatitis B and C, and also determine the Rh status and blood group. In addition, an ultrasound of the pelvic organs and mammary gland must be done.

If the examination reveals any ailments, they need to be treated before conception. 3 months before conception, expectant parents should stop taking medications, especially antibiotics, as well as bad habits such as smoking, alcohol.

A month before day "X" it is worth taking a vacation and a good rest, advises Dr. Komarovsky. But rest is not the way many Russians are used to doing it - on the couch in front of the TV, but to go to nature, to the sea, to the lakes, to the forest, where there is fresh air and you can relax actively, on the move.

A woman's nutrition needs to be adjusted 2-3 months before pregnancy.... Introduce a lot of vitamins, fresh vegetables and fruits, dairy products into the diet, temporarily (or better forever!) Forget about fast food and raw food or vegetarianism, if the expectant mother adheres to this type of diet, limit the use of coffee, cocoa, strong tea.

Even if the allergist does not reveal any pathologies in future mothers and fathers, before conception, all contacts with household chemicals, detergents, powders and cleaners must be minimized. It is recommended to reduce sexual activity a couple of weeks before conception. This preparation can be completed, it's time to move on to the main part.

About conception

The time of conception, season and day are of great importance, says Komarovsky. The human body becomes most powerful in the fall, after the summer, saturated with vitamins and sunlight. If the parents are somatically healthy, then it is best to choose this particular season for conceiving a child.

Another great period for pregnancy is January and February. The fact is that babies conceived in these months, with a full-term pregnancy, are born in the fall. It will be easier for them to prepare for the winter, it will be easier for mothers to organize hardening, the innate immunity of babies will allow them to spend the first half of their life without diseases and viral ailments, which falls on the most epidemiologically dangerous period.

Children who are born in winter will also be able to survive the "dangerous" spring season from the point of view of virus attacks, without much damage to their health with the help of innate immunity.

Summing up all these arguments, Evgeny Komarovsky advises healthy parents who have no problems according to the results of preliminary examination, to plan conception at the beginning of winter, so that the child can be born in the "favorable" months - September and October. But if the health of future parents, as they say, is not very good, then it is best to get pregnant when the adult body is at its peak of health - in September and October, and then the child will be born in the summer, which is also pretty good.

Dr. Komarovsky will tell you how to prepare for the appearance of a child in the family in the next video.

About mom's age

Evgeny Olegovich calls this question a cornerstone, because he is asked more often than others. At the age of 18, it is very good to become pregnant and give birth, because nature does everything for easy bearing and the birth of strong offspring, but at 35-40 years old a woman is quite capable of giving birth to a normal, healthy child. Therefore, a woman should decide for herself when to give birth and not listen to any negative information from numerous supposedly "knowledgeable" advisers.

The calendar age of a woman is not so much important as her state of health and anamnesis. For example, if not so long ago there was a birth, then it is better to give the body time to recover and not rush. The minimum second pregnancy should occur a year after childbirth, and preferably in 2-3 years. After a cesarean section, you can become pregnant, Komarovskaya emphasizes, there is nothing supernatural in this operation. But it is better to wait 2-3 years and before conception be sure to visit a doctor and ask to examine the condition of the scar on the uterus.

About child's field

Dr. Komarovsky says that there are many ways to plan the sex of a child, however, none of them, from the point of view of common sense, does not stand up to scrutiny. It can be counted according to Japanese and Chinese tables, according to blood renewal, according to the day of the cycle, according to stars and folk omens, says Komarovsky, but the 100% way to "order" sex today is only IVF with the selection of embryos of a certain sex.

This selection is made only if, for medical reasons, the birth of only a boy or only a girl is important. For example, a woman is a carrier of the hemophilia gene, which is dangerous for boys, such a couple will choose a daughter from the embryos.

All other methods are something from the field of folk art, the doctor believes. If mom and dad want to have fun, guessing by the stars, no one bothers, please. But you shouldn't expect a 100% hit.

Tips

If pregnancy has come, Evgeny Komarovsky recommends that a woman start keeping a special calendar as early as possible, which will allow her to monitor the development of the crumbs and notice possible difficulties in time. The doctor assures that such a calendar will help both the mother herself and her gynecologist, and then it will become a pleasant memory of nine months of waiting and pleasant excitement.

About preparing for childbirth through the eyes of Dr. Komarovsky - useful advice for future parents.

About nutrition

In general, pregnancy is not a disease, Yevgeny Olegovich believes, so you should not limit yourself too much in everything. Perhaps only the nutrition of the expectant mother requires careful attention. The diet of a woman in an interesting position should not contain foods that are "atypical" for the climatic zone where she was born and lives. In other words, there is no need to eat oranges if all relatives up to the seventh generation come from Siberia, because oranges do not grow in Siberia. This rule the doctor means briefly "do not eat what your great-grandfather did not eat."

In addition, in the name of the health of the future baby, Komarovsky urges women not to eat fatty foods, canned food, mushrooms, peas, pickled vegetables, spicy foods, cocoa, coffee, citrus fruits and a large number of confectionery products with butter cream. It is worth giving preference to vegetables, fruits, berries, dairy products, lean meat and fish, dried fruit compote and green tea.

About medicines

Unfortunately, a pregnant woman is sick no less often than any other, and therefore the question of using various medications during the period of carrying a baby is acute.

Komarovsky is strongly discouraged from taking any medications in the first three months of pregnancy, since all medications, without exception, according to the doctor, affect the developing cells of the fetus, penetrating to it through the placenta.

Otherwise, a reputable specialist recommends adhering to several important treatment rules during the period of bearing a baby. Minor ailments should not be treated with medications, and serious ones cannot be treated on their own at all. This should be done exclusively by doctors, whose task and area of responsibility will include assessing the potential risk to the fetus.

Therefore, a pregnant woman who is sick needs to learn to endure... If it doesn’t work, go to the doctor, and not seek advice from relatives and friends, as well as the all-knowing Internet about whether she can take "Indomethacin" at the 9th week of pregnancy.

Many temporary health problems that pregnant women perceive as serious problems do not require specific treatment at all, or they can be treated with folk remedies, of course, after consulting a gynecologist. For example, thrush is a fairly frequent companion of the initial stages of pregnancy. There is nothing surprising in this and threatening the life of mother and fetus.

Runny nose and nasal congestion accompany some pregnant women for the entire period of bearing a child, and this, according to Komarovsky, is not at all a reason to start dripping vasoconstrictor drops into the nose, which are contraindicated in an interesting position.

However, it is impossible to completely stop responding to disturbances in the body. The expectant mother definitely needs to be tested regularly in order to detect possible pathologies in time... Screening for genetic pathologies is quite informative and useful, and urine tests that a woman carries to a consultation before each scheduled appointment can show such alarming results as the presence of protein or E.coli in the urine.

In any case, Komarovsky emphasizes, only a doctor should treat pregnant women. And no experimental self-treatment, even folk remedies at home, harmless at first glance.

The topic of joint childbirth is very relevant today, and Dr. Komarovsky will tell us everything on this topic.
