Bepanten's analogs for children

Bepanten is a popular remedy used both for baby skin care and for treating various skin problems. However, it is not always possible to purchase and use this drug, and then the question arises of its adequate replacement with other drugs.

Composition and form of release of Bepanten

The drug is produced in the form of an ointment and cream. Both are for external use only and contain dexpanthenol as the main ingredient. Such a substance is converted in the skin into one of the B-group vitamins, which has properties to heal various damage to the skin.

Bepanten cream remarkably moisturizes the skin and is recommended for dry, reddened or irritated skin. In addition to dexpanthenol at a dose of 50 mg per 1 gram of cream, such Bepanten contains propylene glycol, purified water, stearyl alcohol, lanolin, cetyl potassium phosphate and other compounds.

Bepanten ointment quickly copes with the treatment of diaper rash and cracks in the skin. Unlike a cream, this form contains liquid and soft paraffin, white wax, almond oil and some other auxiliary components. Dexpanthenol in this form is also present at a concentration of 5%.

When and why is it used?

Bepanten is safe for babies, therefore, both ointment and cream can be used to lubricate the skin of babies from birth.

The use of Bepanten in childhood is in demand when:

  • Diaper rash.
  • Abrasions.
  • Skin irritation.
  • Sunburn.
  • Excessive dryness of the skin.
  • Cracked skin.
  • Sweating.
  • Ulcerative skin lesions.
  • Bedsores.

There are many reviews from parents about the effective action of Bepanten for these problems. In most cases, mothers confirm the positive effect of Bepanten treatment on the condition of the skin and the acceleration of healing.

The parents are also happy with the fact that the product contains no preservatives and dyes, as well as parabens.

Analogs

With the same active ingredient

If you need to replace Bepanten with another drug, the best choice would be a drug in which dexpanthenol is also the active substance. Such a substitute can be:

  • D-Panthenol. This medication is represented by ointment and cream.
  • Korneregel. This medicine is available in the form of an eye gel.
  • Dexpanthenol. This medication is an ointment.
  • Pantoderm. Such a drug is produced only in the form of an ointment.
  • Panthenol-Teva. This medicine is also presented as an ointment only.
  • Panthenolspray. This dexpanthenol is available in aerosol form.
  • Moreal plus. This drug is produced as a nasal spray.

All these drugs are similar in action to Bepanten and can be used in children of any age. Such ointments and creams perfectly moisturize the skin and help in the fight against irritation from diapers and prickly heat.

With a similar action

It is possible to replace Bepanten for children with preparations that have a different composition, but have a similar effect on the skin.

The most popular are:

  • Depantol. As part of this agent, denspanthenol is supplemented with chlorhexidine, therefore the drug has not only regenerative, but also antiseptic effect. Depantol in the form of a cream can be prescribed from the first days of life to treat damage to the skin of a child. The drug Bepanten plus has a similar composition, which can also replace the usual Bepanten in case of injuries and skin infection.

  • Solcoseryl... This preparation, available in the form of an ointment, gel and solution, is obtained from calf blood. The product accelerates wound healing, strengthens blood vessels, accelerates regeneration processes and protects tissues from oxidative damage. Solcoseryl gel and ointment can be used at any age.

  • Sudokrem... The composition of such a preparation includes zinc oxide, lanolin and benzyl alcohol, as well as benzyl cinnamate and benzyl benzoate. The remedy is used for eczema, diaper dermatitis, bedsores, sunburn, light frostbite, shallow wounds. This cream has a local anesthetic, antifungal and antibacterial effect, accelerates skin healing, and also reduces inflammation. It can be used at any age.

  • Desitin... The main component of such a diaper rash cream is zinc oxide. The drug copes well with redness and skin irritation. It is prescribed from infancy for diaper dermatitis and other skin problems.

  • Elidel... Such a cream based on pimecrolimus is in demand for atopic dermatitis, since it has a good anti-inflammatory effect. Skin treatment with this product is allowed from 3 months of age.

  • Drapolen... This cream has an antiseptic and antimicrobial effect, therefore it is often used in babies with a diaper rash. The basis of such a drug is cetrimide and benzalkonium chloride. Drapolen treatment softens the skin and moisturizes it. This drug can be used from birth.

Analogs price

The average cost of a 30-gram tube of Bepanten ointment or cream is 400 rubles. Approximately the same price for the drug Panthenolspray and 60 grams of Sudocrem, but most of the analogues are cheaper medicines.

The most affordable can be called Dexpanthenol, since 25 g of such an ointment costs the buyer 110-140 rubles.

Pantoderm, Solcoseryl and Depantol are slightly more expensive. For a package containing 20-30 g of the drug, you need to pay about 220-250 rubles. In the price segment of 250-300 rubles there are D-Panthenol cream or ointment (25 g tube), Desitin diaper rash cream (57 g packaging) and Panthenol-Teva ointment (35 g tube).

The most expensive analogue of Bepanten can be called Elidel cream, since 15 g of such a product costs about 1000 rubles. However, its use is most justified only in case of atopic dermatitis, therefore, for other skin problems, parents prefer less expensive options.
