Features of Copic markers

Professional markers of the Japanese company Copic are known not only in their home country, but all over the world. They are irreplaceable material for people of various professions. "Copics" are used not only by people engaged in art, but also by creators of comics, illustrators, designers and even architects.

Advantages and disadvantages

Copic markers are popular and in demand.

Stable consumer demand is due to the following advantages of "copics":

  • environmentally friendly, safe and free of impurities;
  • are of high quality: paint in markers will not dry out even after 3 years;
  • have an alcohol base and dry quickly enough;
  • stylish design and comfortable shape, they are pleasant to hold in hand;
  • suitable for drawing not only on paper, but also on other surfaces;
  • good performance indicators and the ability to refuel;
  • have a very wide range of colors, while colors can be mixed with each other using a special blender;
  • create the effect of a watercolor drawing thanks to cross-hatching, while they do not spoil the paper;
  • have several replaceable nibs: sharp, like in classic felt-tip pens, and more flexible, like a brush (there are also "copics" with a wide beveled tip).

If we talk about the shortcomings of Copic products, then we can note their rather high price.

Varieties

There are 4 types of "copies": Original, Ciao, Wide and Sketch. In addition, there are also multi-liners.

Let's take a closer look at each variety.

  • Copic Original or Classic appeared in 1987 as the very first Copic markers. The color palette includes 214 shades, among which there is a special blender - a colorless marker for mixing colors with each other. In cross-section, the markers are square, so they do not roll off the working surface. The Copic Classic has two nibs: one is sharp, similar to a normal felt-tip pen, and the other is wider and beveled. The tips can be changed if desired, there are 9 replaceable options.

Copic Sketch appeared a little later. Markers of this variety are believed to be intended for artists and illustrators. They have two tips: one is a hard with a beveled edge, the other is an elastic brush. The body is oval, the markers are comfortable to hold in the hand. Copic Skretch has the widest color palette with 358 shades, including a blender. There are 3 types of replacement nibs.

  • Copic ciao have 180 colors in their palette along with a blender. The nibs of this kind of marker are similar to Copic Sketch. In appearance, Ciao resembles classic markers, they are smaller and thinner than the previous two Copic varieties, and therefore are cheaper. It is believed that these markers are intended for those who are just starting to engage in art and do not know what to choose. There are no numbers on the caps, which makes it somewhat difficult to find the desired marker when working.

  • Copic wide has one wide beveled edge and is intended for painting over large areas. This type of marker has 36 shades, including a blender. There are 2 types of replacement tips.

  • Copic multiliner can be separated into a separate group of markers. They can be used for both artistic creation and writing. Tips come in different diameters. The ink can be replaced.

Customer Reviews

Most buyers speak positively about Copic markers and note the high quality, beautiful design, comfortable shape and functionality. "Copics" are pleasant to draw, with their help you can create real masterpieces of art. Many buyers write about the very wide color palette of markers, which is a big plus. The colors can be mixed with each other, which is very convenient.

The only drawback, according to buyers, is the relatively high cost of Copic markers. But if you take into account the fact that they have enough paint for a long time and they can be refilled, then the markers turn out to be quite economical.
