Highchairs for babies

The global problem of choosing children's furniture is that the child grows fast enough, and what seemed useful and convenient for the baby yesterday is no longer necessary today. For this reason, those types of furniture that are made according to the principle of a transformer have gained immense popularity among modern parents, that is, they can radically change the shape and purpose of an object in order to extend the useful life of the purchase. It is to such furniture that a baby highchair of the transformer type belongs, but there are enough varieties of such products to become a separate topic for detailed discussion.

Purpose and features

The progress in the development of a child from the moment of birth to going to school is simply amazing, but it does not happen by itself, but with the active participation of parents. Take at least the normal adult habit of eating, sitting on a chair at the table - from all this, a child can independently learn only to sit in a crib. It is clear that the parents should sit him at the table for the first time, but an ordinary chair will not work for the baby, because you can easily fall from it. The risk of injury could be reduced by having bought a special chair and a small table, however, then a mother would have got into a difficult situation, who would have to kneel down to feed the little one who first learns to sit, and only a good couple of years later, at a sufficient level masters the spoon.

Feeding chairs are a smart combination of comfort for mom and safety for baby. This is a chair with a relatively small seat, with bounding boards on all sides, or even straps for the baby. The function of the front side is performed by a small tabletop, often even with a special slot for a cup, and all this, including the seat and the table, is located quite high so that the mother does not sink too low. For some models, the tabletop can be easily removed, and then the chair can be moved to the adult table, further increasing the believability of what is happening.

So little children gradually get used to a situation that seems elementary to adults, but for them is a task of incredible complexity.

At the same time, the presence of even one child in the family creates a serious burden on the family budget of a significant part of our fellow citizens, therefore, special preference is given to durable things. The term of use of the feeding table is limited, because children begin to sit on their own no earlier than eight months, and by the age of three, the child should already confidently sit in an ordinary chair and eat without assistance. It turns out that such a purchase will not be beneficial for long, while it is rather difficult to do without it.

In such a situation, a transforming chair has become very popular, the design of which involves its subsequent transformation into some other useful item.

Kinds

In the shape of a feeding chair, all varieties of transformers look almost the same, and differ only in the height of the seat and its size. Another thing is that the approach of developers to transformation can be completely different, so the alternative form of the product can give the most unexpected advantages.

Since each variety is something good, let's take a closer look at all of them:

  • Folding chairs. Oddly enough, one of the most popular varieties of this type of transforming furniture is the one that does not transform into anything else. But this design allows you to maximally adapt to the parameters of the owners - here the height of both the seats and the back is adjusted. The product is easy to move around the apartment, since it is equipped with wheels, as well as a brake system that allows you to secure the structure and its passenger from an unexpected start. This chair takes up a lot of space, but if not temporarily in use, it can be folded. Durability of such a solution is added by the case, made of reliable materials - wood, metal or safe plastic, as well as removable seat covers.

This choice seems to be optimal for those families who do not initially plan to be limited to one child.

  • Table transformer, convertible into a chair and table for the child. Another very popular model with high functionality. In the form of a highchair, it has all the best advantages, except perhaps the wheels. Since the small tabletop, although removable, is securely fixed here, the creators point to the possibility of using the product not only for feeding, but also for other activities of the baby, for example, for drawing or playing. When the child grows up a little, the structure can be disassembled, and then the upper part will turn into a small highchair, and the lower part into a table. Unfortunately, their height is not regulated in any way, so practical use is possible until the first trip to school, however, this already increases the service life of the purchase, and most importantly, the cost of one transformer will be much lower than that of three separate items at once.

  • Walker chair. This variety does not increase the term of purchase, but allows you to limit yourself to one product instead of two. In addition to learning how to eat correctly, your baby will also have the opportunity to safely practice walking. At the same time, the creators here put the main emphasis on the walker, therefore, in the form of a highchair, the product is not particularly safe - there is practically no fixation of the child's position there.

  • Swing chair. Another ingenious invention, the meaning of which, in disassembled form, is that the seat is not fixed at one point at all. This design is distinguished by soft seats and backrest, and the same seat belts are responsible for the safety of the child during rocking, which hold him in place during feeding. In addition to the fact that this one piece of furniture can successfully replace two others at once, parents choose it for a bright entertainment element. This is a great way for children to entertain themselves by giving their parents some time to relax. In addition, if a child has his own highchair with a rocking chair, such problems as the absence of a working swing in the yard, their being busy with other children or the inability to go to them due to the baby's illness or bad weather, disappear a priori.

  • Highchair on top of an adult chair. It is somewhat incorrect to call such a model a transformer, since it does not transform at all in any way, but is simply installed on top of any theoretically "adult" chair. You can fix the product reliably enough, but still it is not in great demand among consumers, since it has a very limited service life and is highly dependent on the stability of the chair used as a basis. The only plus can be considered only the compactness of such models - they are the smallest among all those described, and if you have your own car, you can easily take them with you.

Important selection criteria

Since there are many options available, there is always a risk of making a mistake with the choice and purchasing a model that will turn out to be inconvenient in the end. To avoid this error, pay attention to the following points:

  • Certification. Young children tend to put everything in their mouths, and are especially sensitive to harmful chemicals, so ask the seller for certificates confirming the ecological origin of all materials used.
  • Features of a table or tray. At a minimum, evaluate the shape and size - is this enough to feed the baby normally. A huge plus is the presence of raised sides at the edges, because in this way a child, inaccurately spilling soup or tea, will smear only the tabletop, and not everything around. A recess for the cup is welcome, but it should not be a through hole, otherwise the meaning of the sides is completely lost. If the table is removed, then over time, the baby can be safely put to the common table.

  • Adjustability... Every child is different, so there is no universal comfortable seat. As the baby grows, even the ideal seat for him will soon become unsuitable, so it is better to choose models that allow adjustment of the maximum number of parameters, including the height of the table and chair, as well as the position of the back.
  • Fixation reliability. Special highchairs are purchased by parents precisely in order to guarantee the safety of the child in a sitting position, so this moment cannot be ignored. Assess the strength and construction of the restraints and ensure that the straps are attached at a minimum of five points each. A positive point is the possibility of subsequent dismantling of the clamps at a time when the child can do without them, however, such dismantling should be both simple for adults and difficult for the baby.

  • The ability to clean the product. It is pointless to wait for accuracy from a child at this age, so pay attention to the coverage. If the model, in principle, does not provide for covers, make sure that the wood is covered with a resistant varnish (metal and plastic do not absorb dirt anyway), but the question remains whether the baby will be comfortable on a hard seat.

If there are covers, it is better that they are removable and made of an easily washable fabric - then timely care for them will not be difficult.
