Filtrum-Sti for children: instructions for use

In case of poisoning, the child needs to be quickly given an effective drug that will remove toxins from the child's body in a minimum period of time and will not harm him. Activated carbon, familiar from childhood, is often used, but there are other medicines that can help better - for example, the all-natural Filtrum-STI.

Release form and composition

"Filtrum-STI" - variegated dark tablets. They are in the form of a flat cylinder with a notch. Available in packs of 10–60 pieces, as well as plastic bottles and cans of 10–100 pieces.

The main active ingredient of Filtrum-STI is hydrolytic lignin. From Latin, the name "Lignin" is translated as wood or wood, which reflects its origin. This substance is found in the cells of some plants and algae and is a complex polymer that forms in the stiff walls of plant cells. According to the chemical formula, lignin is a mixture of aromatic resins, it is thanks to it that old books have a pleasant specific smell. Lignin has long been used in pharmaceuticals and is considered a valuable raw material.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone and calcium stearate are used as auxiliary substances in the manufacture of tablets.

Operating principle

Lignin is a natural sorbent and has good absorption and intoxication properties. Getting into the human gastrointestinal tract, it "collects" on itself and removes various harmful contents, starting with bacteria and toxins released by them in the process of life. It is also active against poisons, food allergens, alcohol, medicines.

The ability of lignin to remove some metabolic products from the body when they are in excess is valuable. For example, these are bilirubin and cholesterol. In this case, the substance itself does not penetrate into the bloodstream from the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted from the body naturally during the day.

Indications

Filtrum-STI is prescribed for the treatment of various types of poisoning: food, alcohol, heavy metal salts, children with vomiting. It is also effective as part of complex therapy in the treatment of bacterial infections and inflammatory diseases, the consequences of which are intoxication.

"Filtrum-STI" is used for the prevention of allergies, for example, with its seasonal form, it is also useful for people working in hazardous industries.

The drug can be used even by children under one year of age, but it must be remembered that only a doctor prescribes the drug for small children and newborns.

Contraindications and side effects

Do not take Filtrum-STI in case of exacerbations of an ulcer. Also, a contraindication is individual sensitivity to one or more components of the drug.

Care should be taken to use the drug during pregnancy and lactation, since no studies have been conducted on its effect during these periods.

As side effects, instructions for use of the drug indicate allergic reactions, as well as negative manifestations from the gastrointestinal tract, for example, constipation. However, it is indicated that side symptoms occur in rare cases, according to the classification of the World Health Organization it is more than 0.01%, but less than 0.1%.

If you continue taking Filtrum-STI longer than recommended, vitamins and minerals necessary for a person, for example, calcium, may be poorly absorbed.

Instructions for use

When treating children, Filtrum-STI must first be crumbled to make it easier to swallow, and given to the child about an hour before meals, as well as taking other medications. The drug should be taken with plenty of water.

A single dosage for children is: less than one year old - 0.5 tablets, from 1 to 3 years old - 0.5-1 tablets, from 4 to 7 years old - 1 tablet, from 7 to 12 years old - 1-2 tablets. Children over 12 years old and adults can take 2-3 tablets at a time. The number of doses per day can be 3 or 4. When prescribing medicine for infants, body weight is also taken into account, therefore the exact dosage is recommended only by a doctor.

The duration of treatment is determined individually. In case of acute poisoning of any etiology, Filtrum-STI is usually taken within 3-5 days. In case of severe poisoning, allergies, prevention of occupational diseases, a longer treatment can be prescribed - up to 3 weeks. Also, if necessary, you can repeat the course of treatment, taking a break for 14 days.

No cases of drug overdose have been recorded in clinical practice.

If you take Filtrum-STI at the same time or after a short period of time with other medicines, their therapeutic effect may decrease.

Terms of sale and storage

In Russia, Filtrum-STI is classified as an OTC drug. At home, it is stored at room temperature, protected from direct sunlight, in a place inaccessible to children. The shelf life of the medicine is 2 years.

Reviews

Filtrum-STI effectively helps children with various poisonings. So, my mother writes that the pharmacist advised to give the drug to the child after the birthday of a friend, where the children were treated to fast food. Despite the fact that a 6-year-old child was vomiting, it was possible to give the child some medicine and after 30-40 minutes the first signs of improvement began: vomiting became less frequent, then stopped, abdominal pain disappeared. Nevertheless, the parents went to the doctor, who prescribed a complex treatment, but kept the "Filtrum-STI" method. The very next day the child had an appetite, but had to follow a diet for several days.

Reviews also indicate the effectiveness of the drug for allergies. For example, Filtrum-STI helped to cope with seasonal urticaria, the appearance of which in a 5-year-old child was associated with birch pollen. After taking the drug for the first two days, the skin manifestations completely stopped. The course lasted a week, after which the urticaria did not return. The next year, we started taking Filtrum-STI in advance, before the allergen appeared, and the season passed without hives.

Analogs

There is a fairly wide range of absorbents on the Russian pharmaceutical market. Many of them are approved for use in children, for example, the already mentioned activated carbon, "White coal", "Smecta", "Polysorb", "Enterosgel" and others. Some drugs are available in the form of a ready-made suspension or powder for its preparation. but when changing the drug, it is better to consult a doctor or pharmacist, since all drugs have their own spectrum of action, as well as contraindications and side effects.
