Nadezhda Zhukova's primer

The kid, who, it would seem, was just born, is growing up very quickly and will very soon go to school. Parents understand that the time has come to teach their child to read so that they are prepared for this important stage in their life. Of course, kindergarten teachers and teachers of additional education will provide all possible assistance in this.

However, it is not always possible for a baby to cope with this difficult skill without the help of parents. When choosing the first textbook for their baby, parents often choose the classic "Primer" by Nadezhda Sergeevna Zhukova. I propose to get to know him better.

About the author

Nadezhda Sergeevna was born in 1924. In 1976 she successfully defended her qualification work on the topic "Processes of systemic assimilation of the native (Russian) language in case of speech impairment" and became a candidate of pedagogical sciences.

More than 30 years of his life N.S. Zhukova devoted herself to speech therapy and became a fairly well-known specialist in this direction. Under her authorship, not a single million copies of manuals have been published that help parents to educate their children.

From 1960 to 1990 she worked at the Moscow Children's Psychiatric Hospital. Nadezhda Zhukova carried out special studies of the progressive processes of speech development in preschoolers. Publications of her scientific works can be found both in Russian publications on her profile, and in foreign ones.

Nadezhda Sergeevna acted as an activist in public activities. In the 1960s, she and her neuropsychiatric colleagues, as part of an initiative group, were deciding how to organize specialized groups for children with speech disorders in preschool institutions.

The result of this activity was a list of indications, according to which babies are enrolled in a speech therapy group. The initiative group also developed all the documents necessary for this and established the rules for the work of the selection commissions. Thanks to the work of N.S. Zhukova and her fellow activists throughout the country began to create speech therapy groups and entire children's speech therapy schools, which were subordinate to the Ministry of Education.

About the technique

Nadezhda Sergeevna has created her own special method of teaching children to read. It is based on the traditional approach, which is a continuation of the work of well-known speech therapists-practitioners E.F. Rau, A.G. Ippolitova. In "Primer" N. S. Zhukova, this approach is harmoniously combined with an unusual way of studying letter combinations, which the child takes for a single graphic element.

Thus, syllables act as a reading and writing unit. Using the N.S. It is much easier for a beetle baby to learn the skills of correct reading and then it is easier to move on to competent writing.

"Primer"

This well-known textbook is an example of a classic textbook that has been familiar to three generations of children. In compiling it, the author tried to combine her original methodology with measures to prevent the occurrence of errors in writing that appear in schoolchildren. With this, a baby who has learned to read will be able to gradually move on to learning to write.

This popular textbook for preschoolers is published by EKSMO. The workmanship is excellent. Hardcover, bright cover, large print, which is just suitable for teaching preschoolers, high quality paper - all these are the main characteristics of the book. The price of "Primer" ranges from 250 rubles. Initially it was called "Speech therapy primer".

There are no moments of play, entertainment in the book - nothing that could distract the child's attention from classes. This textbook is designed not only for a fun learning of letters by a child, as in the alphabet, but also for quick learning to read for preschoolers. For parents at the bottom of the pages, methodological recommendations for conducting the lesson are offered.

Parents will be able to teach the child to read when the child's speech and phonemic hearing are sufficiently developed. In order for the learning to be more successful, it will be better if the child does not know the letters before reading the textbook. Nadezhda Zhukova adopted the sound-letter teaching method as a basis for teaching, which has become traditional for several generations of students to read.

The kid first gets acquainted with the sound that the letter denotes (not EM, but M, not BE, but B). You can introduce him to the correct name of the letter later. This is thought out so that the crumbs do not have confusion in their heads when they start learning to read by syllables. He will not understand how to get BA from the letters BE and A, he will continue to read BE-A.

The difficulty level of tasks in the "Primer" increases gradually, which gives the baby the opportunity to understand the principles of reading and learn them well, applying them in practice. In the process of learning, you should not sing a lot of syllables for a long time. It is necessary to explain to the child that between words and sentences it is necessary to pause, as well as to observe punctuation marks.

Pay the student's attention to small words (conjunctions, prepositions) in the sentence. Tell him about the need to highlight them with short stops when reading. Try not to use several different techniques at once, this can confuse the baby in the learning process.

To explain the material, pictures are well selected that correspond to the topic being studied and can be used in the educational process. When the child starts reading it is recommended to close the read text with a ruler or blank sheet of paper at first. This is necessary to avoid returning the child's gaze to the read, which can hinder him greatly. And, most importantly, do not rush the baby. Each kid learns at his own pace. Do not force him to read texts if the crumb still does not read syllables well. By doing this, you can only harm him.

The main character of the manual is a cheerful boy running from one letter to another.

The kid should accompany the boy, accompanying him along the path from the first letter to the second with his finger and pull the first letter, pronouncing it until he reaches the next. It turns out a kind of singing of a syllable.

The order of learning letters is not alphabetical. At first, several vowels are studied and, at the same time, the child begins to learn to read letter combinations from them. Starting with combinations of letters from vowels, it will be easier for him to understand the meaning of folding syllables with consonants. Further, consonants are gradually introduced. The general order of studying letters is as follows: A, U, O, M, S, X, R, W, Y, L, N, K, T, I, P, Z, Y, G, V, D, B, F, E, b, I, Y, Y, H, E, C, F, Sh, b.

Nadezhda Sergeevna proposes to teach the child to read not only in a line, but also in columns. The finger should be strictly under the letter or syllable being read... The red line indicates the reading direction from left to right. As you look at the pictures, ask your child to select the first and last sound from the names of the objects depicted. It will be easiest for a crumb to do this if the first vowel is stressed. It is more difficult to cope with the selection of the initial consonant, and the most difficult is the final vowel sound.

In addition, Nadezhda Zhukova suggests using the magnetic alphabet and copybooks for the Primer. With their help, the child's learning process will become much easier. The copybooks also offer comments for those teaching the child. After you have finished the "Primer", you can continue with the "First book after the Primer for reading" by the same author.

Reviews

In general, the feedback from parents and teachers about this manual is positive. Parents like the syllable folding technique offered by N. Zhukova. Also, many people note the high quality of printing, good illustrations, well-chosen texts, large print, interesting tasks for children and useful guidelines for parents.

Many people point out the book's reasonable price. Most parents say that children have learned to read easily and quickly. Teachers, narrow specialists recommend purchasing this textbook for lessons with parents who want to teach a child to read.

However, among the shortcomings, it can be noted that this manual is not suitable for every child. There are children who do not want to study the Primer at all due to the lack of entertaining moments. They find learning from this book boring and uninteresting.

Parents were surprised by the choice of names, for example, the female name Moore. Children, not faced with such names in life, did not understand what they were reading about.

Studying the reviews, you can find such adults who simply could not teach the child to read on their own. In doing so, they used not only Zhukova's technique, but others as well. Only teachers of additional education were able to cope with this task.
