Trimedat for children: instructions for use and reviews

Abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea often occur in children, not only with serious illnesses, but also with eating disorders. In all these cases, "Trimedat" will help, regulating the work of the intestines - it is prescribed even for small children.

Release form

"Trimedat" is available in the form of tablets of 100 and 200 mg for oral administration. Packages of 10, 20 and 30 are sold in pharmacies, depending on the manufacturer (Russian or foreign).

Tablets 100 mg are cylindrical, 200 mg are round with a line and embossed letters and symbols.

Composition and principle of action

The active ingredient, trimebutin maleate, has a regulating effect on intestinal motility. With insufficient peristalsis, it is able to enhance it, and with excessive peristalsis, it has an antispasmodic effect.

The excipients in the tablet are lactose, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc, corn starch and magnesium stearate. This is a standard set of sweeteners, dyes, and preservatives that are used in many medicines.

The medicine acts on the entire gastrointestinal tract, helping the movement of food from the esophagus into the stomach, and then the digested mass into the intestines. The drug helps to restore normal intestinal motilityso that smooth muscles adequately respond to incoming food, and the child does not have digestive problems.

Indications

"Trimedat" is prescribed for stomach and intestinal disorders of various origins, including abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation. The drug is used to relieve symptoms and treat dyspeptic disorders of the intestines, for example, early satiety, feelings of fullness.

Trimedat Valenta, produced by a Russian pharmaceutical company, is recommended for children from the age of three. However, as prescribed by a pediatrician or a narrow specialist-gastroenterologist, the medicine can be used earlier, for example, from 2 years old.

Independent use of "Trimedat" in children under three years of age is not recommended, since in a clinical setting, the effect of the drug on children of this age group has not been studied. At the same time, metabolism in young children differs from metabolism in adults and older children.

It is best to consult a doctor who has experience in using the medication and will prescribe treatment for the child, taking into account his health condition and individual indicators. "Trimedat", which is produced by a South Korean company, can be used by children from only 12 years old.

Contraindications and side effects

The instructions for use establish several restrictions on the use of the medicine. The first is children's age from 3 to 12 years old, depending on the manufacturer. The second contraindication is an increased individual sensitivity or intolerance to the components of the drug. The latter applies not only to the main substance, but also to auxiliary substances, for example, lactose.

In the instructions for use, the manufacturer indicates that the drug is well tolerated by patients. However, various side effects symptoms may appear during treatment. These can be stool disturbances or nausea. Possible manifestations such as drowsiness, headaches, anxiety, ringing, tinnitus, hearing impairment. Also, the child may be disturbed by a skin rash, itching.

If the symptoms are not acute, the treatment can be continued - after a while they will disappear on their own.

Instructions for use

The dosage of the drug for children is indicated by the manufacturer. Children from 3 to 5 years old need to take 25 mg of the drug per day, from 5 to 12 years old - 50 mg three times a day. Children over 12 years old receive an adult dose - 100-200 mg of the drug daily.

Since the drug is produced with a minimum content of the main component of 100 mg, a quarter or half of the tablet must be used for a child. If only 200 mg tablets are available, you need to divide it into 8 and 4 parts, respectively.

If a small child does not know how to swallow tablets, the required part can be ground into powder with a regular teaspoon, and then add a little water to make a suspension. You can also add the crushed tablet to your drink or sweet jam, which will look like syrup.

You need to give the medicine 30 minutes before or 20 minutes after a meal. The course of treatment can be both single and long - up to several months.

Overdose cases have not been recorded in the medical literature. If the parents are sure that the child has taken a large amount of the medicine, it is necessary to seek medical help, and in the meantime, wash the stomach with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Then the child should be given an absorbent, for example, "Smektu", and within 24 hours to monitor his health. If symptoms occur, such as constipation or diarrhea, apply symptomatic treatment.

Interaction with other drugs

There are no cases of influence of "Trimedat" on the action of other medications. As a general rule, babies should not be given Trimedat together with anthracite and absorbent drugs, as this impairs absorption and, consequently, the therapeutic effect.

Terms of sale and storage

Trimedat is a non-prescription drug. The shelf life of the tablets is 3 years. In this case, the storage conditions must be observed: do not leave the drug under the influence of direct sunlight, high or low temperatures. From this, the effectiveness of the drug may be reduced. Reviews

Parents respond well to the use of Trimedat in their children. They find the drug safe and effective, quickly relieving symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhea in children.

So, my mother shared the story of the cure of the consequences of food poisoning. A gastroenterologist, after hearing complaints of diarrhea and vomiting, prescribed a 3-year-old child to take Trimedat in combination with another medicine. The child's stool returned to normal the next day of admission, the temperature subsided, the child became active. The treatment lasted four days.

In another case, a 5-year-old child was prescribed Trimedat as a stomach aid after starting kindergarten. Mom explained that her daughter is a little boy, and in kindergarten she ate a variety of foods 5 times a day. For her stomach, such frequent meals turned out to be too much of a load: her stomach ached, diarrhea, bloating appeared. Treatment with "Trimedat" for 2 weeks helped the child adapt to new nutritional conditions.

According to doctors, drug treatment can be started even earlier than the age recommended by the manufacturer, even from 2 years. Side effects occur in very rare cases, children tolerate the drug well, at the same time, the desired effect is achieved for various stool disorders or pain in the abdominal cavity.
