"Noofen" for children: instructions for use

A group of medications called nootropics can affect the state of the brain and mental function. Their reception has a positive effect on learning, working capacity, memory, mental state. Such funds are especially in demand in the treatment of neuroses, asthenia and other problems with the nervous system.

At the same time, there are nootropics that simultaneously have psychostimulating properties and belong to anxiolytics (drugs that help fight fear and anxiety). One of the drugs with such an effect is Noofen. It is produced by the Latvian company OlainFarm, which is also known for such products as Phenibut and Adaptol.

Earlier "Noofen" was presented in several forms, among which was the powder, packaged in portioned sachets of 100 mg of the active substance. It was prescribed to children from the age of 3. Another form of Noofen was 250 mg tablets, which were at risk - that is, the drug could be divided into two doses of 125 mg. This allowed the drug to be used in patients 6-8 years old.

but now the medicine is produced only in capsules, the instructions for which indicate the minimum age of use - 8 years.

If a younger child needs treatment, it is recommended to replace Noofen with one of the analogues.

Release form and composition

The Noofen capsules are white, oval and oblong. They are sold in a box of 20 pieces, medicines are packed in two blisters of 10 capsules.

Inside the shell of gelatin and titanium dioxide there is a white-creamy powder. It contains aminophenylbutyric acid, which is the active ingredient of Noofen. Its amount in each capsule is 250 mg. In addition to this acid, the composition of the powder also includes such inactive components as: calcium stearate, lactose and potato starch.

Operating principle

The active substance of the capsules is well and quickly absorbed from the intestines, penetrating into all tissues, including the brain tissue. Thanks to the reception of "Noofen" mental stress, fears and anxieties are reduced, and sleep improves. The drug helps to eliminate asthenic and autonomic symptoms, for example, irritability, mood swings, a feeling of heaviness in the head, headaches. After the Noofen course, schoolchildren increase their working capacity, they become interested in new knowledge and are motivated to learn.

Although the effects of aminophenylbutyric acid are similar to those of tranquilizers, unlike such drugs, Noofen has a positive effect on the accuracy of reactions, the state of memory and attention. In addition, addiction does not form to such a drug, and after its withdrawal, the patient's condition does not worsen.

Indications

For school-age children and adolescents, Noofen is most often prescribed to treat nervous tics, enuresis or stuttering. The drug is also in demand for anxiety and neurotic disorders, insomnia and asthenia. In addition, capsules are used for Meniere's disease and are prescribed for patients with kinetosis for prophylactic purposes.

Contraindications

"Noofen" should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the main or any inactive ingredient of the capsules. The drug is also contraindicated in acute renal failure. Due to the presence of lactose in the composition, such a medication should not be used in case of glucose-galactose malabsorption or lactase deficiency.

Liver diseases require lower doses to prevent the drug from producing hepatotoxic effects.

Side effects

Sometimes taking "Noofen" provokes drowsiness, headaches or dizziness. Other possible side effects of the drug include nausea and an allergic skin reaction. The contents of the capsules also have an irritating effect on the digestive tract, which is why the medicine is recommended to be drunk after meals, and if the child has gastrointestinal tract diseases, taking Noofen requires a doctor's control and reduced dosages.

Instructions for use

The capsule should be swallowed with Noofen water. You cannot bite through the drug or take only the contents of the capsule. A single dose for a patient 8-14 years old is usually 250 mg - that is, one capsule. From the age of fourteen, it is increased to 500 mg, as in adults.

The frequency of taking "Noofen" is three times a day, but for children under 14 years of age, the doctor may prescribe a double use.

The duration of use depends on the indications and is selected individually.

Overdose

The drug is classified as low-toxic, but if the dose is exceeded, "Noofen" can cause nausea, drowsiness, vomiting, dizziness and other symptoms. If you use capsules in large doses for a long time, it will have a bad effect on renal activity, liver condition and blood pressure.

For the treatment of an overdose, it is recommended to flush the stomach and give the patient symptomatic remedies, since there is no antidote to the active substance of the capsules.

Drug interactions

In "Noofen" noted properties to enhance and lengthen the effects of sleeping pills and antipsychotics. For this reason, a doctor should combine such capsules with any other psychotropic drugs.

Terms of sale and storage

To buy Noofen at a pharmacy, you need to take a prescription for such a medicine from your doctor. The average price of one package is 1000 rubles.

It is necessary to store the medication at home at temperatures up to 25 degrees Celsius. The capsule box should be kept out of sunlight and moisture, out of reach of children. Shelf life of "Noofen" is 2 years. It should be specified on the package before treatment, in order not to give the child an expired remedy by mistake.

Reviews

Mainly positive reviews can be read about the use of Noofen by schoolchildren. In them, parents confirm that the drug helped in the treatment of stuttering, nervous tics, or other neurological problem... At the same time, its effect begins rather quickly, and after completing the course, the child becomes less irritable and anxious, the quality of his sleep improves (he falls asleep faster and sleeps more calmly), and information in the classroom is easier to assimilate.

However, there are also negative reviews, in which complain of ineffectiveness or side effects, such as headaches, gastrointestinal irritation or dizziness... The disadvantage of "Noofen" is also called its dosage form, since the capsule is large and cannot be opened, and at an early age the drug is not used. Another disadvantage of the drug is the rather high cost of the course of treatment.

Analogs

Instead of Noofen, the doctor can prescribe Phenibut for the child. This medicine from the same manufacturer also contains aminophenylbutyric acid, so the indications for its administration and possible side effects are the same. However, it is presented not in capsules, but in tablets. And although the amount of active substance per tablet is also 250 mg, it is permissible to divide it into parts and grind it, therefore "Phenibut" can be used for children 3-7 years old.

Another analogue of Noofen (with the same active compound) is called Anvifen. Its dosage form is also capsules, however, they are presented not in one, but in several dosages (25, 50, 125 and 250 mg in one capsule), which allows you to choose the medicine according to age. At the same time, in childhood, treatment with Anvifen in the lowest dosage (25 mg) is allowed from the age of 3.

In addition, another medicine with a similar effect on the body can become a substitute for Noofen.

Among other nootropics and anxiolytics, your doctor may prescribe:

  • "Grandaxin";
  • "Tenoten";
  • "Mexidol";
  • "Pantogam";
  • "Glycine";
  • "Adaptol";
  • Cortexin;
  • Semax and so on.

Such drugs are presented in different forms and have different contraindications, so they cannot be given without a doctor's prescription.

Some of them are allowed even for newborns and babies, others are contraindicated for small children and are used only under the supervision of a specialist. For this reason, the choice of an analogue of "Noofen" should be entrusted to a doctor.
