Child development up to a year

Day regimen of a child at 9 months - a table by the hour and tips for parents

The daily routine for a child at 9 months is almost identical to that of the previous month. Some changes can be seen only in the diet, the content of educational games and the renewal of the massage complex.

Approximate daily routine for a 9 month old baby. The main regime moments

  • 6:00-6:30 It's time to wake up and the baby's first meal.
  • 6:30-8:30 Morning segment of wakefulness with the obligatory implementation of the necessary hygiene procedures: washing, changing the diaper, taking air baths and light massage.
  • 8:30-10:00 The first walk combined with sleeping in the fresh air.
  • 10:00-10:30 Time for the second feed.
  • 10:30-14:00 A period of active knowledge of the world around, including exercise and many educational games.
  • 14:00-14:30 Another feeding of the crumbs.
  • 14:30-16:00 Time to sleep. Sleep is not a walk.
  • 16:00-18:00 The awakened baby is full of energy and ready for physical exercises and cognitive games.
  • 18:00-18:30 Time to eat.
  • 18:30-20:30 A very good moment for a family walk together, which all family members can go on.
  • 20:30-22:00 It is time to communicate with household members, favorable for quiet games; evening ritual of bathing the baby.
  • 22:00 Evening meal of the child.
  • 22:30-6:00 Sleep until the morning.

A few more additional options with a daily routine (you will already select the best option, taking into account the characteristics of your baby):

The presented table is compiled taking into account the physiological needs of a child at 9 months: it has four-hour intervals between feedings, two walks are provided, and the intervals set aside for active leisure leave time for developmental activities and physical exercises.

Sleep

The normal duration of sleep for a baby of this age is from eleven to fourteen hours during the day. The longest is the period of night rest.

Given the variety of individual characteristics of nine-month-old babies, physiologists have found that most often their daytime sleep occurs:

  1. Two-phase, consisting of two one and a half hour periods... This is the most optimal option for daytime rest, indicating the normal mental and emotional development of the baby.
  2. Three-phase, which includes two short-term forty-minute intervals of morning (at 9:00) and evening (at 19:00) rest and prolonged daytime sleep, lasting at least two hours... If this period coincides with the walking time, the baby can sleep for three hours. Being a variant of the norm, such a sleep schedule indicates excessive fatigue of the crumbs, who are not yet ready for prolonged wakefulness.

Daily naps are extremely important for your baby: they give him the opportunity to recover the energy he spent and are a guarantee of his good mood.

Sleep disorders

Parents often witness various violations of the normal sleep schedule:

  1. Some crumbs may need rest not 2-3, but 4-5 times during the day, and the duration of their sleep is no more than half an hour.
  2. Other babies sleep very badly at night: they constantly turn and turn, shudder (why does a newborn baby flinch in a dream?), Often wake up crying (why do babies cry in their sleep) and are capricious, and after waking up they cannot fall asleep for a very long time. Having calmed down in the arms of their mother after much persuasion and motion sickness, they are briefly forgotten by an alarming superficial sleep in order to soon wake up again.

To normalize the baby's sleep, it is necessary to find and eliminate the reason that provoked a violation of its quality and cyclicality.

The culprit for the disturbance of daytime sleep is most often the strong overwork of the baby, which occurred due to the abundance of external stimuli: a large number of people in the house, obsessive games of older children, too loud music, as well as too high temperature and dry air in the children's room (about the optimal temperature) ...

To normalize night rest, the following conditions must be met:

  • Before laying down the baby, the nursery should be well ventilated. Sleeping with a slightly open window that guarantees a constant supply of fresh air is an ideal option for maintaining a comfortable microclimate;
  • If the sleeping baby has a habit of throwing off the blanket, there is no need to stand over his crib all night. You just need to dress it correctly before bed. In addition to a disposable diaper, the baby should have light pajamas and socks;
  • Excellent options for preparatory procedures that contribute to a long night's rest are: performing gymnastics, coupled with a relaxing massage and an evening baby bathing ritual;
  • Games prior to falling asleep should be calm;
  • It is very good if parents include the tradition of reading good fairy tales in the procedure for laying the child. The grown-up baby is already able to listen to 2-3 not too long texts;
  • An excellent sound background for a baby to fall asleep is the quiet singing of lullabies.

Parents are often disturbed by the child's restless night sleep. Complaints are different: the baby does not fall asleep well, often wakes up, cries in his sleep. Why is this happening and what should be done?

About the diet

Knowing that the diet of a 9-month-old child includes five feedings, and the daily amount of food eaten (excluding drinking) should be at least one liter, it is easy to calculate that for one feeding he should receive at least 200 ml of products intended for baby food ...

Starting from this age, many mothers breastfeeding begins to fade into the background (breastfeeding is given to the baby upon waking up and when laying down at night). Soups, cereals, vegetable and fruit purees are now the basis of the children's diet. To increase the nutritional value of the dish, it is advisable to add meat cut into small pieces to light soups and vegetable purees. Since the baby has several (from 4 to 6) teeth by this time, there is no need to rub it.

Boiled egg yolk is no less nutritious; it is also added to soups and mashed potatoes in the same way, thereby adding variety to the children's menu. You just need to remember that you should not give the crumbs meat and yolk on the same day.

At this age, you can introduce your child to dishes from low-fat varieties of oceanic fish (cod, pollock, haddock, hake, flounder). Given the high allergenicity of this product, it should be introduced gradually and very carefully.starting with half a teaspoon of steamed or boiled fish fillets (you can also serve fish puree from a jar).

If you feed the baby with fish in the morning hours, you can observe the reaction of his body. However, you should not give him any other new products. If, after meeting a new dish, his cheeks do not turn red and a rash does not appear, this indicates that he does not have an allergic reaction to fish. This means that next time the portion of the fish can be slightly increased.

It is very important that the diet of the growing crumbs contains enough fresh vegetables and fruits: saturating its body with vitamins and microelements, in some cases they can solve problems with stool normalization. When constipation occurs, peach or plum puree can act as a safe natural laxative. Pieces of fruit (peaches, bananas, apples) and berries can be added to cereals and baby curd to improve their taste and nutritional value.

It will be useful for young mothers to look at an approximate plan for the daily diet of the grown crumbs:

  • 6:00 The awakened baby is applied to the breast, and the artificial person is given a bottle with milk mixture.
  • 10:00 An excellent breakfast option would be porridge and fresh fruit puree.
  • 14:00 For lunch, you can offer your baby a vegetable soup with pieces of meat or egg yolk. A good option for a meal can be vegetable puree with meat, and a grated apple is suitable as a dessert. Over time, dishes from ocean fish can become a complete substitute for meat.
  • 18:00 The best time for a snack with baby curd and fruit juice. Crumbs who love more hearty food can dine on porridge with pieces of finely chopped meat.
  • 22:00 The falling asleep baby is again applied to mother's breast or milk formula is given.

To maintain the correct water balance in the baby's body, the mother must make sure that he receives the required amount of liquid: baby tea, drinking water, fruit drinks and juices.

About physical development

Nine-month-old children stand up on their feet without any problems and begin to walk with the support of both arms or holding on to any support. In order to help strengthen their muscles, it is necessary to do gymnastics at least twice a day., including exercises in the complex:

  • with circular rotation of the handles;
  • flexion and extension of the legs (simultaneous and alternate);
  • with alternate flexion and extension of the baby's arms, holding on to mother's fingers;
  • stimulating crawling;
  • with sliding steps;
  • for squats (with support for the armpits);
  • with the body leaning forward (with straightened legs).

Before performing the next exercise, relieve muscle tension with a light relaxing massage. Each movement should be repeated at least five times, and the total duration of the complex should not exceed ten to fifteen minutes.

In an effort to teach the baby to walk as quickly as possible, many mothers use a walker, unaware that this simple trainer is too much of a load for fragile legs.

Even an experienced pediatrician cannot say for sure what kind of load is necessary for the correct development of a particular child, and some mothers who are carried away by chores around the house have babies in the walker for an unreasonably long time. That is why it is better to refuse using a walker, giving the baby the opportunity to independently master new skills.

About educational games and activities

  • Favorite games of kids are still "Ladushki", "Magpie-crow";
  • Nine months of age is the time for the active development of fine motor skills, which is why babies begin to show interest in small objects, trying to pick a flower or pick up a pebble while walking. Knowing this, mother must control her baby, stopping all his attempts to send the find into his mouth. But during feeding, this interest must be supported in every possible way, giving the baby the opportunity to hold pieces of bread or slices of fruit in the handles. It is also useful to give him a spoon - trying to control it over and over again, after a while the baby will learn to eat on his own (10 ways to teach a baby to eat with a spoon);
  • The development of fine motor skills is greatly facilitated by activities consisting of inserting (and then extracting) peas, beans, or lentils into a lump of salt dough. You can offer the crumb to collect scattered buttons, large beads or pebbles in a box. During these activities, an adult should very carefully observe the baby pulling each object into his mouth;
  • Children of this age really like the game of hide and seek. Both parents can take part in the game. One, hiding around the corner, should say "cuckoo" and for a moment appear to the crumbs. After that, taking the baby in her arms, the mother can hide with him and in the same way look around the corner. There will be no limit to the delight of the crumbs;
  • It's time to introduce the kid to the concept of color. For several days, you can lay out a turret of monochromatic cubes with him, all the time focusing his attention on the name of their color. Then you can add one cube of contrasting color. Let the baby remember and realize the difference in colors. After a while, you can ask him to serve a cube of a certain color. A variant of the game is to work with sizes (large-small) and the number (one-many) objects (we teach colors with a child - 5 techniques).

Daily adherence to the same daily routine disciplines the baby, forms in him a number of useful skills and habits (for example, the procedure for washing his face in the morning, the desire to wash his hands before eating, the habit of waking up and eating by the clock, the ritual of taking a bath every night), which will be useful to him in further.
