5 tips for choosing a toy for your baby

When the baby is one month old, he already begins to respond to rattles with squeaks or watch his eyes on the mobile on the crib. Only, wishing to please the baby, do not buy the brightest or sonorous toys. Our advice will help you make the right choice.

1. Safety

Take a closer look at the toy. It should not contain parts that the baby can gnaw off and accidentally swallow, as well as cracks where the baby's finger gets stuck. Long strings are dangerous because they are able to wrap around the neck. Evaluate whether it is safe to take the toy in your mouth - will it harm your health? Will the rattle break, will its contents wake up if you knock it for a long time? Does the funny rubber frog give off a sharp or unpleasant smell? Is the paint permanent - won't it peel off if rubbed with your fingers? If you are looking after a mobile or harness, make sure the toy is securely attached. Will she scare the baby if she falls in the middle of the night? And most importantly, it is better to purchase children's products from well-known manufacturers: it is important for them to maintain a good reputation, so they carefully monitor the quality of materials.

Pay attention to the marking of your favorite birds, bells, rubber frogs. Marks “0+”, “6+”, “for children from 3 years old” are not a simple formality.

2. Hygiene

For a newborn, you should choose an easy-care toy that is easy to wash or can be machine washed. At a minimum, wipe with a damp cloth.

3. Convenience

It is important that the baby can hold the toy himself. Unfortunately, even well-known companies produce heavy toys that fall out of the hands of a child. If you want to buy a squeaker, choose a product made of soft rubber - the toddler has enough strength to push it to hear the sound.

4. Sounds and colors

Babies respond better to toys of warm saturated colors, and for some reason yellow and orange are recognized as favorites among them. Remember that acid colors, excessive variegation, and harsh, loud sounds can over-excite your baby. At first, the child will seem cheerful, but later will cry and be capricious. Therefore, it is better to choose a toy that emits a melodic soft ringing or taps. Mooing, meowing, electronic barking is best left for babies from 1 year old. If you are looking for a mobile, check that the volume of the model you like is regulated.

5. Tactile sensations

The baby should be pleasant to touch the toy. You should not choose plush and fur products - the baby wants to try everything, so the pile can get into the mouth. But special toys for newborns are made of several types of fabrics that differ by touch: to touch them is both pleasant and useful. A great option is a hug toy, or a comfort. This is a cloth figurine with a pillow-like body that mom needs to wear a little on herself. The smell of the baby will remain on the toy, so when you put it in the crib, the baby will feel protected.

Be careful with wooden toys: although they are eco-friendly, they can leave splinters.

I tell and show how we played with the first toys (rattles, tumbler, crumbs, developing rug and mobile). What was really useful, and what may not be useful in one, two and three months of the baby.
