Can a nursing mother eat hematogen?

If a woman is breastfeeding, she should monitor her diet, because the food eaten can change the composition of milk and affect the well-being of the baby. And special attention should be paid to such a delicacy as "Hematogen", since it is not an ordinary sweetness, but a drug that helps to treat anemia. In some cases, the use of such a bar can harm both the nursing mother and the baby.

Features:

Bovine blood serum is used to make "Hematogen", thanks to which the bar is rich in proteins (food albumin). To make the product pleasant to the taste, condensed milk, cocoa, sucrose, honey, molasses, vanillin, and sometimes nuts, chocolate, dried fruits, vitamin complexes and other components are added to its composition.

The "Hematogen" has the following beneficial properties:

  • improving the absorption of iron in the intestine;
  • strengthening immunity;
  • stimulation of the synthesis of blood cells;
  • improvement of vision;
  • strengthening nails and hair;
  • increasing the resistance of the female body to infections.

In appearance "Hematogen" is similar to iris, but it has a slightly specific flavor. Dried erythrocytes give the product its characteristic dark color. They are the source of iron, which, after entering the body, is included in the synthesis of hemoglobin. Such the composition makes "Hematogen" a valuable supplement in case of iron deficiency anemia or a high risk of its development, for example, if the human diet is low in animal proteins.

Despite the pleasant taste that many adults and children like, this is not an ordinary chocolate bar or candy at all. Therefore, it is unacceptable to use "Hematogen" in large quantities, as well as to replace it with full-fledged meals.

Can it hurt?

Although such a product has many beneficial effects, sometimes "Hematogen" is contraindicated. For instance, such a tile should not be used for varicose veins or thrombophlebitis, as it will help to thicken the blood. If a nursing mom has a calcium problem, then due to the reception of "Hematogen" they may worsen (iron interferes with its absorption).

This delicacy is also contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity, a large amount of sugar makes it harmful for diabetics, and because of the high calorie content, women with excess weight and metabolic disorders should refuse to use Hematogen. Since breast milk slightly changes its taste after taking this supplement, the baby may refuse to breast. In such a situation, the delicacy will also have to be excluded from the diet of a nursing mother.

Like many medicines, "Hematogen" can provoke various side effects, including skin itching, nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, headache and other unpleasant symptoms. Their occurrence is also possible in case of an overdose - if a woman eats more "squares" than the doctor recommended to her.

Is it ok for breastfeeding?

There is no strict ban on the use of "Hematogen" during breastfeeding, but in the first months after childbirth, it is undesirable to include such a remedy in the diet of a nursing mother... Most doctors believe that feeding a newborn from such a treat can be more harm than good.

Fears are associated with a high risk of allergy to this product, because "Hematogen" contains a lot of protein, which can act as an allergen and harm the baby. Some doctors recommend refraining from sweet tiles for up to 3-4 months after childbirth, others advise you to wait up to six months... By this time, the baby's digestive system will get stronger enough and the risk of negative effects will decrease.

What should be considered?

If you try Hematogen after childbirth for the first time, limit yourself to one or two "squares" and carefully observe the reaction of the little one... If the baby starts to be capricious, refuses to breastfeed, becomes covered with a rash, becomes restless or has disturbed stools, the use of Hematogen will have to be abandoned. If the baby's condition is normal, you can gradually increase the daily dose to 15-30 grams, after consulting with your doctor.

When buying Hematogen, it is better to choose the classic version, which is recommended for children.

Such a product is well purified and does not include various additional components, so the risk of allergies is reduced. It is better to buy a treat in pharmacies., because in a store under the same name you can get a low-quality analogue that does not contain those nutrients that are in the traditional "Hematogen".

Another important recommendation is to check the expiration date. It must be indicated on the wrapper and must be checked before consuming the product. An expired remedy can be dangerous for both the woman herself and the baby.

It would be useful to consult a doctor about the possibility of using "Hematogen" during breastfeeding. He will determine if the nursing mother has contraindications, and whether she really should use this product. In addition, the specialist will take into account other medications that the patient is taking, because "Hematogen" is incompatible with many of them.

Such a remedy should not be combined with pain relievers and diuretics, some antibiotics and vitamin complexes. There are also food restrictions. For example, "Hematogen" should not be used with liver or fish dishes, as well as foods rich in calcium. Between such food and taking "Hematogen" it is better to wait 1-2 hours so that all the nutrients are absorbed to the full.
