Markers for fabric

Hand-painted fabric is a popular trend in contemporary art. Paintings made using this technique look very beautiful and impressive. In addition to paints, textile markers can also be used for work.

Varieties

There is now a large selection of fabric markers. They can be divided into two groups: indelible ones and those that can be washed off. The latter markers are also called "phantom" markers. Let's take a closer look at each of the types.

"Phantom"

They are intended for marking fabrics when working, such as when embroidering or sewing. Markers of this type are: disappearing, washable, washable and for dark fabrics.

  • Disappearing the felt-tip pens stay on the fabric for 24, maximum 48 hours. Best for marking out canvas for embroidery or fabric for sewing.
  • Washable markers have two sides, one of which writes, and the other erases the written. There are markers that disappear by themselves after a while.
  • Washable felt-tip pens can last up to one year on textiles if not washed. To remove traces of the marker, rinse the fabric in cold water without using detergents. Only then is it permissible to erase the work. If the fabric is washed immediately in warm water, the felt-tip pen can become fixed, and it will be problematic to remove it.
  • Marker for dark fabric usually white. It can be washable, washable or disappearing. The pattern is not immediately visible on the fabric, it appears after a few minutes.

When buying a new marker for textiles, it is recommended that you first try its effect on a small unnecessary piece of fabric, and then delete the drawn one. It is necessary to rub the product with a special eraser if a washable felt-tip pen was used. If the marker is washable, the fabric will need to be washed.

The Mola markers from the Swedish company Ikea are rinse-off; they are removed from the surface with warm water and soap. These markers are perfect for children's creativity, as they have bright saturated colors and a body shape that is comfortable for a child's hand. They will not dry out even if the child forgets to close the cap. Felt-tip pens are well washed off clothes and washed off from all surfaces, including the skin.

Indelible

Felt-tip pens intended for painting fabric should not disappear during the operation of the product. They are suitable for creating prints on cotton, linen, silk. When buying markers, you need to carefully read the instructions for them, since if you handle them incorrectly, the colors in the picture can fade or blur.

In any case, it is necessary to wash things painted with felt-tip pens at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees.
