Inhalation with ambrobene for children

Many babies with severe coughs are prescribed inhalations using a nebulizer. Such procedures not only moisturize the mucous membrane, but also help some drugs get inside the respiratory tract. One of the drugs that are injected into the child's body not only internally, but also by inhalation is Ambrobene. How to dilute it for one inhalation, in what dose to use in childhood and how does such a procedure work on a coughing baby?

Form and composition of Ambrobene for inhalation

Inhalation can be done with Ambrobene solution, which is intended for oral administration. It is a clear liquid, poured into bottles with a capacity of 40 or 100 ml. It is odorless and colorless, although it may have a slight yellow tint. The package also contains a measuring cup to accurately dose the drug.

The active ingredient in such a medicine is ambroxol hydrochloride. This compound contains 7.5 mg in each milliliter of the drug. It is supplemented with purified water, hydrochloric acid and potassium sorbate.

How does it work?

Ambrobene in solution is a mucolytic agent, since this drug makes sputum less viscous, which contributes to its better separation. The active substance of the drug changes the rheological characteristics of mucus and its adhesive properties. In addition, under the action of such a remedy, the glands in the bronchial mucosa begin to synthesize the secret more actively. The result will be relief of coughing as the phlegm will be cleared up better.

From what age can you use?

The use of Ambrobene in the form of inhalation in the first 2 years of life requires supervision by a doctor. For children under one year old, the procedure must be prescribed by a doctor, determining the grounds for such treatment and the correct dosage.

Indications

Inhalation with Ambrobene is recommended for diseases of the respiratory tract, in which the sputum is very viscous and leaves with great difficulty. This method of using the drug is often used in the treatment of bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, bronchiectasis. It is also in demand for dry cough caused by ARVI.

Contraindications

Procedures using Ambrobene should not be carried out with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug. Also, contraindications for inhalation will be frequent nosebleeds and serious heart pathologies. You should not carry out manipulation at a high body temperature.

For children with liver disease, epilepsy, renal impairment, peptic ulcer disease or other serious pathologies, the dosage and frequency of Ambrobene should be determined by the doctor. Especially carefully prescribed inhalations with such a drug with too much mucus in the airways and impaired motility of the bronchial tree, since in such a situation the secret can stagnate.

From the following video you can find out in which cases inhalations are contraindicated. Commented by the popular pediatrician Komarovsky.

  • Nausea.
  • Stool disorders.
  • Urinary excretion disorders.
  • Skin rash.

Instructions for use

How to inhale

To do the procedure, you can use any modern equipment called a nebulizer, and a steam inhaler is not suitable for such manipulations. To make the mixture inhaled by the child sufficiently moisturized, saline is added to Ambroben. The prepared medicine is heated to body temperature and poured into a nebulizer. It is impossible to store the drug mixed with saline.

The child is offered to breathe calmly so that the cough does not intensify due to deep breaths. If a small patient has bronchial asthma, then to prevent spasm during inhalation, it is recommended to use bronchodilators, for example, before using Ambrobene, inhalation with Berodual is performed.

The procedure should be carried out 1.5-2 hours after a meal, and the next feeding should be no earlier than an hour after inhalation of the medicine. Before going to bed, the manipulation is not done. How long Ambrobene breathes is determined taking into account the age of the baby - in children under 6 years of age, the procedure lasts up to 3 minutes, and in older children, its duration is up to 5 minutes.

Dosage and frequency of inhalation

The volume of Ambrobene solution, which is used for one inhalation, also depends on the age of the small patient:

  • At the age of less than two years (for example, at 1 year), if the procedure is prescribed by a doctor, 1 ml of the drug is used.
  • For children over 2 years old (for example, at 3 years old), it is recommended to use 2 ml of solution for one inhalation.
  • If the child is already 6 years old, a single dosage can be increased to 3 ml of Ambrobene.

For children under 6 years old, the procedure is often performed once a day, but in some cases the doctor prescribes 2 inhalations. Children who are 6 years old are recommended to breathe Ambrobene twice a day.

Duration of treatment

It is up to the doctor to decide how many days you can do inhalations for a specific disease. Often, the duration of Ambrobene inhalation therapy does not exceed 5 days.

Drug interactions

The use of Ambrobene's solution should not be combined with treatment with antitussive medications, under the influence of which the cough reflex is inhibited. This combination of drugs can provoke stagnation of bronchial secretions, which will worsen the child's condition.

Ambrobene treatment for bacterial infections is well combined with antibiotic therapy, since ambroxol improves the penetration of certain antibacterial agents (for example, amoxicillin and erythromycin) into the mucus produced by the bronchi.

Purchase and storage conditions

You can buy Ambrobene solution, which is used for inhalation, without a prescription. The average price of a bottle with 100 ml of such a medicine is 170 rubles. You can store the medicine for 5 years from the date of its release in a dry place where the temperature will not rise above +25 degrees and children will not find the drug.

Reviews

There are different reviews about inhalations with Ambrobene, but in most of them parents confirm the high efficiency of the drug in the fight against cough. After the procedures, the child often clears up phlegm better, which promotes recovery. Side symptoms such as allergies, nausea, weakness, drying out of the mucous membranes and others are quite rare.

Analogs

The most common replacement for Ambrobene is a drug with the same active ingredient called Lazolvan. It is quite difficult to answer the question of which is better - Lazolvan or Ambrobene for inhalation, because the therapeutic effect of such funds is almost the same, however, due to different excipients, the child can tolerate them differently. The selection of a suitable remedy is best done with a doctor, especially if the child is still young or has any health problems.

Instead of Ambrobene, pediatricians can also prescribe inhalations with drugs that are effective for coughing:

  • ATSTS solution inject.
  • Drops of Tussamag.
  • Fluimucil solution.
  • Pertussin solution.

In the next video, Dr. Komarovsky talks in detail about inhalations with a nebulizer, in which cases to use it, and in which not.
