Neosmectin for children: instructions for use

Many mothers experience diarrhea in a child. Such an unpleasant disruption of the digestive tract occurs even in infants. It is provoked by infection, poisoning, changes in the balance of microflora, and other factors. Sorbents are very popular in the treatment of diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and gastrointestinal diseases. One of the means of this group is "Neosmectin", the instructions for the use of which are very simple. However, not everyone knows how it helps to get rid of diarrhea and in what dose it is prescribed for children.

Release form

"Neosmectin" is produced in the form of a powder, which is packaged in portioned sachets of 3.76 g. This powder has a yellowish, grayish or brownish-yellow tint, and after mixing with water it forms a suspension of the same color - with a sweet taste and pleasant smell. According to taste and aroma, the finished suspension can be raspberry, vanilla or orange. One package contains from 1 to 30 sachets.

Composition

The main component of "Neosmectin", due to which the therapeutic effect is provided, is the compound dioctahedral smectite. Each packet contains 3 g of it. Additionally, the preparation contains dextrose or glucose monohydrate, vanillin and sodium saccharinate. Raspberry and orange powders contain raspberry and orange flavors.

Operating principle

The use of "Neosmectin" helps with digestive disorders - thanks to such basic effects:

  • Removal of toxins, viruses, gases, bacteria, bile acids and other substances from the patient's body. It occurs due to the adsorption of microbial and viral cells by smectite, as well as other compounds in the lumen of the digestive tract. This action is due to the special discoid-crystalline structure of the active ingredient "Neosmectin".
  • Increasing the resistance of the mucous membrane to various damaging factors - for example, to hydrochloric acid and toxic substances in food. This action is associated with the ability of smectite to bind with glycoproteins in mucus, due to which the mucous barrier of the stomach is stabilized. In addition, under the influence of the drug, more mucus is secreted, and its gastroprotective properties are improved.

If you use "Neosmectin" in the dosage prescribed by the doctor, the drug has no effect on intestinal motility. It cannot be absorbed into the bloodstream and is excreted unchanged with feces.

Indications

"Neosmectin" effectively eliminates symptoms of the digestive system, such as bloating, heaviness in the abdomen, loose stools, and helps with heartburn. The drug is given to children:

  • with viral or bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • in case of poisoning with spoiled food;
  • with diarrhea, provoked by experiences;
  • in case of violation of the diet;
  • with diarrhea caused by allergens in food;
  • with gastritis, duodenitis, reflux and other gastrointestinal diseases;
  • with medicinal diarrhea;
  • with intestinal colic.

From what age is it allowed to take?

At the same time, it is recommended to give the remedy to the smallest patients only after consulting a doctor.

Contraindications

The drug is not prescribed for patients with hypersensitivity, as well as for suspected intestinal obstruction.

Since "Neosmectin" contains dextrose or glucose, its use is limited for children with diabetes.

Side effects

Taking "Neosmectin" can cause constipation, which is eliminated by reducing the dosage. In addition, in rare cases, the use of a medication provokes an allergic reaction.

Instructions for use

Immediately before taking the contents of the "Neosmectin" sachet should be dissolved in clean water. Its amount depends on the patient's age - if the child is less than 12 years old, then the powder is poured into 50 ml of water, and for a teenager 12 years old and older, 100 ml of liquid is required to dissolve the powder from one sachet.

For the smallest children, the medicine can not only be diluted with water and given from a bottle. You can combine it with formula milk, liquid porridge, vegetable puree and other liquid products.

Powder diluted with water or liquid food is allowed to be stored in the refrigerator (at temperatures from +2 to +8 degrees) - up to 16 hours. In this case, the container with the medicine should be tightly closed, and before the next dose, the diluted medication should be shaken.

Reviews

There are many good reviews about the treatment of children with Neosmectin. The main advantages of the drug are called its safety, natural basis and the ability to use for all family members, including newborn babies and the elderly. For this reason, "Neosmectin" is often included in the home medicine cabinet as a remedy for bloating, diarrhea and other unpleasant symptoms.

The medicine is also praised for an affordable price, since it is cheaper than analogues. As for the disadvantages, in many children the medicine provokes constipation, and some babies do not like the taste of the finished suspension.

Analogs

A full replacement can be called drugs "Smecta" and "Diosmectite"... They have the same active compound in the composition, portioned packaging and the same indications for use. In addition, other medications are prescribed for children with diarrhea ("Regidron", "Imodium", "Bifiform", "Enterol" and so on), but they have a different mechanism of action.
