How to use sea buckthorn candles for hemorrhoids during pregnancy?

Many women while waiting for a child are faced with a problem such as hemorrhoids. At the same time, not all drugs are suitable for treatment, because many medicines are contraindicated during pregnancy.

Expectant mothers prefer herbal remedies with a minimum number of side effects and contraindications. One such remedy is sea buckthorn candles. How to use them correctly, whether they have analogues, we will tell you in this article.

About the drug

Sea buckthorn candles are a natural herbal preparation produced by the pharmaceutical company "Nizhpharm".

Another manufacturer "Dalkhimpharm" produces a product called "Sea buckthorn oil" in the form of rectal suppositories.

In the composition - sea buckthorn oil, as well as two types of preservatives harmless to human health - butyloxyanisole and butylhydroxytoluene (additive E 321). The candles are shaped by solid fat, which makes up the bulk of the suppository.

Candles have a specific smell of sea buckthorn, as well as a characteristic light orange or red color. Their shape resembles a torpedo, one edge of the candle is sharpened, which makes it easier to insert.

Suppositories with sea buckthorn oil are used not only in proctology for the treatment of anal fissures and hemorrhoids, but also in gynecology. Vaginally, the drug is administered with cervical erosion, inflammatory processes in the vagina and appendages.

Operating principle

Sea buckthorn oil has a strong wound-healing effect on both the skin and mucous membranes. It not only helps them restore integrity after damage, but also actively resists the inflammatory process.

Biological antioxidants act at the cellular level to protect and protect membranes from destruction. The main active ingredient contains many vitamins that are important for tissue regeneration - E, C, A, K and others.

Thus, one should not expect a powerful analgesic effect from sea buckthorn candles. To achieve this result, there are other drugs that contain anesthetics (for example, "Ultraproct"). But candles with sea buckthorn oil will help to quickly cope with inflammation of the rectum, cracks, if any.

As a result of a decrease in the inflammatory process, edema decreases, venous nodes become smaller, ulcers and wounds heal both with external hemorrhoids and with internal ones.

Sea buckthorn oil - famous natural antibiotic... It has a pronounced effect against many representatives of the microbial world, for example, against salmonella, staphylococcus and Escherichia coli. Therefore, the drug can be used in cases where hemorrhoids are complicated by bacterial inflammation.

Instructions for use

Candles are allowed for pregnant and lactating mothers. During pregnancy, the drug can be used at any time, since sea buckthorn oil does not have any negative impact on the health of the expectant mother or on the fetus.

On average, pregnant women are advised to administer suppositories twice a day, 1 suppository at a time. You can choose the "morning-evening" scheme, introducing candles after waking up and before going to bed, or you can use them after each bowel movement, but no more than twice a day.

Candles melt easily in the hands, and therefore they should be stored in the refrigerator, and moistened with cold water before use. After emptying the intestines, the expectant mother should not use toilet paper, so as not to cause additional mechanical irritation of the anus. It is better to thoroughly rinse the anus and carefully insert the suppository rectally as deep as possible.

It is better to introduce candles while lying on your side. The horizontal position with slightly raised legs should be observed for about 20 minutes after administration to allow the sea buckthorn oil to be more fully absorbed into the mucous membranes.

Women should remember that sea buckthorn oil stains are difficult to wash, so do not put on white skirts and trousers immediately after inserting a candle, do not immediately sit on furniture with soft light upholstery - part of the drug in liquid form can flow out of the rectum and dirty furniture and clothing. It is wise to use sanitary pads that will save you from such unpleasant consequences.

If the expectant mother has a prolapse of hemorrhoidal venous nodes, before the introduction of the suppository, it is advisable to moisten a finger in ordinary liquid sea buckthorn oil, lightly massage the anus with it, gently set the nodules inward. After that, you can enter the candle.

The course of treatment with sea buckthorn candles during pregnancy is 10-15 days. If during this time no relief has come, the inflammation and itching, pain and swelling have not diminished, a woman should definitely visit a proctologist. Sea buckthorn candles are allowed to be taken by repeated courses after a short break.

Contraindications

The drug has practically no contraindications. It is allowed for pregnant women, children and retirees.

The only thing manufacturers warn about is the possibility of developing an allergic reaction.

This probability is minimal, but it still exists, because sea buckthorn oil, like any herbal preparation, can be perceived by the body inadequately.

It is not difficult to guess about an allergic reaction to suppositories with sea buckthorn - a woman has a burning sensation, itching, a few minutes after the introduction of the suppository. If such a reaction occurs, you should refuse treatment with these suppositories and consult your doctor about choosing another drug.

Sea buckthorn suppositories for hemorrhoids should also not be used during periods of diarrhea. Sea buckthorn oil can increase the manifestation of loose stools, which can deliver additional pain to the expectant mother.

Cases of overdose with sea buckthorn oil in the form of rectal suppositories have not been described in the medical literature. Almost nothing is known about how the herbal component interacts with other drugs and substances.

Analogs and alternative

Such candles have no analogues. On the shelves of pharmacies you can find sea buckthorn suppositories of three manufacturers - Moldovan, Far Eastern and Nizhny Novgorod.

They differ only in price - the most expensive candles are from Nizhpharm. Their price is higher than 120 rubles for 10 pieces. Preparations from other manufacturers cost less than 100 rubles for 10 pieces.

An alternative to rectal suppositories can be tampons soaked in sea buckthorn oil. They can be easily made at home and should also be injected after each bowel movement, in the morning and evening before bed, but remember to carefully remove the tampon. You can make the tampons small so that they come out with the feces themselves.

You can also use pure oil. They lubricate the anus with external hemorrhoids. But the introduction of liquid oil rectally is a rather difficult process, using suppositories is much easier and more effective.

Special recommendations

The shelf life of sea buckthorn suppositories is not three years, like most medicines, but only one and a half years. It is imperative to pay attention to this. Candles that have expired are strictly prohibited to use. Therefore, if the drug is bought immediately with a reserve for pregnancy and the postpartum period, you should carefully read the dates on each package of the drug.

Reviews

Most expectant mothers have left positive feedback on the use of this drug on the Internet. The natural origin of the product, its harmlessness for pregnant women are noted as advantages. The cons pointed out by women are difficulties in opening the suppository pack. Candles are difficult to open.

Many pregnant women emphasize that the independent use of sea buckthorn candles did not bring the desired result, and only the alternation of this drug with other drugs for hemorrhoids (including synthetic ones) made it possible to cope with the painful problem completely.

Women warn that soiled with sea buckthorn oil linen is practically not cleanable, and therefore it is strongly recommended to take this fact into account when using the drug. Some expectant mothers used these candles for prophylactic purposes (one per day) in order to prevent constipation during pregnancy and not to provoke an exacerbation of hemorrhoids.
