A line of nasal products called "Aqualor" is represented by drops and sprays that help to cleanse the nasal mucosa, eliminate congestion, and help to quickly get rid of a runny nose, colds or sore throat. One of them is the drug "Aqualor Baby". From its name it is clear that such a remedy is intended for the smallest patients (0+).
Release form
There are two dosage forms of "Aqualor Baby":
- Drops. This version of the drug is sold in plastic dropper bottles, which are hermetically screwed with a lid. One bottle contains 15 ml of liquid. It has a slightly salty taste, no smell, no color or any inclusions (the solution is completely transparent).
- Spray. This form of the drug is available in metal cans of 125 or 150 ml, inside which there is the same liquid as in the drops. An important characteristic of this "Aqualor" is the anatomical nozzle, which allows directing the stream directly into the nasal passage. Especially for use in newborns and babies, it has a restrictive ring, due to which the nozzle is unable to penetrate too deep into the nose and injure the mucous membrane. Irrigation is also gentle; the manufacturer calls it a “soft shower”. In addition, the use of the product is possible both in a sitting and lying position of the child.
Composition
The main and only ingredient in both forms of the drug is sea water. It is of natural origin (mined in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of France), therefore it acts as a source of valuable active substances and trace elements. Among them are potassium, magnesium, chlorine, selenium, zinc, iodine, sodium, copper, iron and other substances. Since such water contains from 8 to 11 g / l of sodium chloride (on average 9 g / l), it is called isotonic. There are no preservatives in Aqualor Baby.
Operating principle
Treatment of the nasal cavity with Aqualor Baby:
- perfectly moisturizes;
- helps to rinse and cleanse its sections well, eliminating mucus, crusts, allergens, pollution, viruses or microbes;
- enhances local immune defense;
- promotes faster regeneration if the mucous membrane is damaged;
- maintains the normal physiological state of the nasal cavity;
- helps to restore breathing through the nose by reducing swelling of the mucous membrane;
- enhances the therapeutic effect of drugs that are dripped or sprayed into the nose (antibacterial, hormonal, vasoconstrictor and others), and also reduces the risk of their side effects.
Indications
"Aqualor Baby" in any form is used for different purposes:
- with such a tool you can rinse the baby's nose daily (use for hygiene every day);
- it is dripped or sprayed with a runny nose, provoked by any reason (allergy, chronic inflammation, bacteria, and so on);
- it is in demand to prevent infection with influenza or ARVI in an unfavorable period (during an increase in the incidence);
- it is used if the baby still falls ill with acute respiratory infections;
- it is prescribed after surgery in the nasopharynx area;
- the drug can be used for adenoiditis or sinusitis;
- the remedy is indicated for excessive dryness in the nose (with subatrophic rhinitis).
At what age are they used?
Both drops and spray "Aqualor Baby" are allowed to be used even in the smallest patients. Such funds are called safe and are used from the first days of life.
Contraindications
The use of "Aqualor Baby" is prohibited only in case of intolerance to sea water, because it is the only component of drops and spray. Such an individual reaction is extremely rare, but possible, therefore, after the first use of the drug, the child's condition needs to be monitored. The manufacturer does not declare any other contraindications to such a drug.

During the use of "Aqualor Baby", no negative reactions usually occur. Side symptoms are possible only in case of individual intolerance.
Instructions for use
Before injecting the drug into the child's nose, it is recommended to wipe the tip of the spray bottle or dropper bottle nozzle with alcohol. You can use Aqualor Baby as often and for as long as required. If this drug is in drops, then the drug is usually applied 2-4 times a day. It is injected into each nostril of the baby, 1 or 2 drops.
If the child is prescribed a spray, then such "Aqualor" is used to wash the nasal cavity. For everyday hygiene, the product is used in the morning, and sometimes additionally in the evening. If the crumbs have a runny nose, washing can be carried out 2-4 times a day (sometimes more often), and to prevent rhinitis during an epidemic, the procedure is recommended to be performed 3 times a day.
After rinsing the spout with "Aqualor Baby", you need to clean it of solution and secretions. To do this, the child needs to blow his nose, and if he still does not know how to do this, then removing the excess content is with an aspirator or a rubber bulb.
If "Aqualor Baby" is used in the complex of treatment of acute respiratory viral infections, allergic rhinitis or other diseases, then it is recommended to drip or spray it into the nose before using other drugs intranasally.
How to properly use for rinsing the nose?
The nasal cavity is washed with the Aqualor Baby spray. If the baby is not yet two years old, the procedure is performed lying down. The head of the crumbs is turned to the side, and the tip is inserted into the nostril, which is located on top. For a few seconds, the drug is injected into the nasal passage, then the child is seated and all contents are removed from the nose.
Then the procedure is repeated for the second nasal passage, and if required, it is carried out again. If the child is over two years old, he or she can stand or sit while washing. For the procedure, his head is tilted to the side. Further, all actions are the same as for small patients under 2 years old.
Overdose
There are no negative effects from excessively frequent use of "Aqualor Baby" or the use of the drug in an increased dosage. It is permissible to instill the agent in the child's nose, irrigate the nasal cavity with a spray or perform rinsing as often as is required to improve the condition of a small patient. Accidental swallowing of the contents from the dropper bottle also does not harm your health.

Treatment of the nasal cavity with "Aqualor Baby" is compatible with the use of any other medicines. As noted above, such a remedy is often used before a vasoconstrictor, antiviral or other drug is instilled into the baby's nose.
Terms of sale
You don't need to get a prescription from a doctor to buy Aqualor Baby. Both forms of such a drug are not classified as drugs and are freely sold in pharmacies. The average price of one bottle of drops is 130-150 rubles. A spray bottle containing 150 ml of liquid costs about 400 rubles.
Storage conditions
Although there are no preservatives in the composition of the product, the Aqualor Baby spray does not deteriorate during the entire period of use, which is 3 years from the date of manufacture. Under the name "Aqualor Baby" they sell not only a spray and drops with sea water, but also an aspirator, which helps to clear the child's nose of secretions. It is intended for babies from birth to three years old and is used both in the treatment of the common cold (to remove mucus) and for daily hygiene. There are no contraindications to its use.
The device works by using the force of the air flow created by the adult's mouth, which is considered safer and more effective than using a rubber bulb or an electric aspirator. After rinsing the child's nasal cavity with Aqualor Baby spray or dropping the agent from a dropper bottle, insert the mouthpiece into the mouth of the mother or another adult, and the nasal nozzle into one of the baby's nostrils.
Next, the adult must breathe in with his mouth, as a result of which the mucus from the little one's nose will move into the reservoir of the aspirator. After that, the manipulation is repeated for the second nasal passage. After finishing cleaning the spout, the aspirator is disassembled, washed in warm water, and the filter is changed.

However, there are no auxiliary chemical additives and preservatives in both preparations, therefore treatment with Aquamaris can become a full-fledged replacement for Aqualor.

But although they are considered harmless to children, it is better to choose a suitable analogue together with a doctor who observes the baby and will take into account all contraindications.
