Kontraktubex for children: instructions for use

All children enjoy learning about the world around them, but during active games and exploring new horizons, they often get cuts, bruises, burns and other injuries. If the damage is deep, it can leave behind scars and scars, sometimes for life. To combat such consequences, various local drugs are used, one of which is Contractubex. From what age is it prescribed to children and how is it used in babies?

Release form

Kontraktubex is on sale in two versions:

  • Gel. This form is prescribed for children over 1 year old. It is a light brown or light yellow mass with a peculiar smell. One tube contains 20 or 50 grams of gel.
  • Patch. It has a prolonged effect and is used in children from 3 years of age. One pack contains 21 plasters measuring 3x12 cm.

Composition

The Kontraktubex gel formula includes three active ingredients:

  • allantoin - at a dose of 10 mg / 1 g;
  • heparin - in the amount of 50 IU / 1 g;
  • onion extract - at a dose of 100 mg / 1 g.

Additionally, the gel includes flavored oil, xanthan gum, purified water, sorbic acid, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, and macrogol 200.

The patch contains 2 active ingredients - allantoin and zepalin.

Operating principle

The components of the Kontraktubex gel act locally on both fresh and old scars (which are more than a year old). Their regenerating, antithrombotic, antimicrobial and smoothing effects are noted.

The medication prevents the formation of scar tissue in excess and helps to eliminate redness or itching at the site of injury. As a result of the influence of Kontraktubex, scars become softer and more invisible, and the skin becomes smoother.

The patch has also been noted to prevent the formation of scars or to smooth out scars. The active components from the inner layer of the patch are released for several hours and get inside the skin, and the outer layer protects the damaged area from moisture loss.

Indications

Kontraktubex is used for:

  • keloid or hypertrophic scars - the consequences of trauma, surgical treatment, burns;
  • atrophic scars, for example, after a boil or chickenpox;
  • contractures of tendons or joints;
  • stretch marks;
  • phimosis.

In addition, both the gel and the patch are prescribed for prophylaxis after injury or surgery in order to prevent the appearance of pathological scars.

Contraindications

The product is not used if the child has hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Side effects

Some children may experience redness, itching, swelling, or other local reaction after applying the gel or patch. Sometimes treatment with such a drug provokes scar atrophy.

Instructions for use

  1. The gel is applied to the scar 1 to 3 times a day, rubbing in the medicine with massaging movements with slight pressure.
  2. The duration of application of the gel is determined by the stage of healing of the skin damage. If the scars are fresh, then the treatment is carried out from 4 weeks, and for old scars, treatment is prescribed for 3-6 months.
  3. To enhance the effect of the gel in the treatment of a dense old scar, it is advised to steam the skin before treatment. It is also possible to use an occlusive dressing and physiotherapy.
  4. If the gel is applied to fresh scars, then the treated skin should be protected from low temperatures and ultraviolet radiation.
  5. When treating the skin on the face, care must be taken that the gel does not get on the mucous membranes of the mouth or eyes.
  6. The plaster is glued to the scar once a day for 6-12 hours (it is possible at night). The duration of use of this form of the drug is usually 3 months.
  7. To make the result of treatment more pronounced, it is advised to start using the patch immediately, as the wound has epithelized or after the removal of the stitches. If this form of Contractubex is used for very small scars, the patch is allowed to be cut into small pieces that will completely cover the scar area.
